August car rental rates

I'm still finding outrageous rates for Aug. 5-12. I guess we've just gotten such great deals in the past that I'm a little spoiled. I would definitely like to pay less than $200 for the week, size of car doesn't matter, it's 2 adults and an 8 year old.

I am starting to get nervous for my August trip. I really need a car for arrival Aug 11 at 2pm and return Aug 22 at 1pm.

:worship::worship:Some of you are very magical - any ideas????

Thanks.

Try going to www.Budget.com using these codes: BCD X474200 (public travelocity code) and coupon code MUGZ029 fpr $30 off at time of return if its in good condition. THese are the rates I just found at MCO thru Budgets site. Compact $195 (264 with tax), Econo $205 (275 with tax), Prmium/Standard SUV/Minivan $225 (299 with tax) and you get $30 back at return.

Hope that helps. I am using these codes myself in a couple of weeks. Have a great trip

Does anyone know if there is an expiration date for these Budget codes or any other terms and conditions that may apply? I am interested in using these for our August trip but I don't want to show up at the rental counter and they say those codes are no longer valid or can't be used. Thank you for sharing this info :thumbsup2

My DD used these codes in November and they were accepted. The only thing I would suggest is to watch the total before signing. She went to the counter and the agent asked about insurance and she declined, but when she went to sign the contract, he had added it. She caught it and made him redo it. She checked again and saw the correct total and signed it. She returned and was charged what she agreed to. However, she returned at the DTD hotel and there was no one there, actually, no one. And it took awhile for her to find an agent. He pretty much could've cared less. It all worked out and she needed a minivan and the price was a good price. I would only do it if I had too.....and right now the prices with Alamo and National are too high for me, so I have a minivan reserved with Budget under these codes and am prepared to rent through them if I don't get a similar deal with either Alamo or National for my timeframe (Aug. 12-19).

I'm wondering about the BCD X474200 code as well. We booked a van with it for August, but do you need to show proof of anything? Or, for the coupon code, do you have to have a paper coupon to show? Any of you who used these codes - have you had any problems? Thank you!

Thank you. This is something we will definitely look out for if we decide to do this.

Never used priceline or hotwire before. If you place a bid & it is accepted, I'm assuming they go ahead & charge your credit card for the total, am I right?

Yes and it is non-refundable.

Thank you! Thinking I may try my luck once our December trip gets a bit closer.
Any idea if the bid should be done close to your trip so they have an idea of their bookings for that time period or does it really matter?
I'd love to bid no more than $20-$25 per day for a minivan rental!

thank you thank you and thank you once again for those that reccommended the carrentalsavers site. I got a lower price once again for my Aug 23rd to 29th trip now it is $159.81 for an intermediate SUV (ford escape type car)

I finally reserved an intermediate SUV for $166 + taxes and fees for a total of $228 for the week, that's probably the best I'll do. We really don't need such a big car, but they were cheaper than that compacts!

I have an intermediate SUV also for our trip, the 23-31 for $217. I also have a Full Size for $237. It's going to come down to what DH wants to drive.

Anyone get a good August rate with Alamo or National lately? If you used a coupon or code, please share!:cheer2:

The rate I got was with Alamo, see above. No coupon but it was with the insiders club, free to join. Received $30 off a week long rental.

I was just able to book a Mid-Size SUV for 8 nights at the end of august for $196.84 using the AD5691JDV coupon which is $25 off. :yay:

Thanks! I was getting crazy quotes for 3 day rentals. $109.xx is still more than I wanted to spend but at least I'm around $100 instead of $150-250 & it's a small SUV!
