Continental.com have some quite good prices on indirect Business class seats, either into MCO or TPA, dates I tried were from £1,180. Same dates from Manchester £1,900.
For our dates Economy seats are around £700-800(over £900 for Virgin) so another £400 is fair enough for Biz class.
Plus I believe you get Virgin miles at 200%, http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/g...ntalairlines.jsp?bfSubmit1.x=14&bfSubmit1.y=9

Now do I wait for similar from Manchester?

Similar prices for Miami also.
Miami is also a little better from Man, about £1,400 but not down to london prices.

That isn't bad is it? Particularly considering how expensive economy fares are for that period. As long as the route/stopovers aren't too onerous then it's definitely worth considering.

There are some very good flight times, lots to choose from.
Going from Heathrow for Easter trip, don't fancy going twice from there in 1 year, Manchester is far easier.

Never flown with Continental but they have amazing Biz class prices for flights to Chicago in November (we're going for Thanksgiving) which are impossible to ignore!!! They are half the price of BA so v-e-r-y tempted to just book...

So has anyone flown with them to the US??? Are they OK???

we flew to houston and then onto Utah with them a few years abck the flight from gatwick was great but the internal to utah was not so good and they lost our bags

OK, this is just my opinion so you'll probably prefer to get one from someone who has actually experienced Business Class on Continental rather than just walked through ;)

We've been on about twenty Continental flights now so I have extensive experience of walking through, and the cabin doesn't seem that great to me. I'm not sure I'd pay 50% more for it. I would say it is much better than VA PE but nowhere near as good as Upper, for example.

Until last August I would have said exactly the same about Delta, it doesn't look that much better, would have even said the seats look a bit shabby. No idea about Continentals Biz service but Delta was superb, so walking thru doesn't really help unfortunately.

As for VA, just re-priced our dates, £3,720.49 per person, so can't really compare, even if we cut our holiday a few days cheapest I can get is £1990.49. Even PE are £1,338.49

Dear God!

Just a thought - have you tried Continental.com but booking VA on a code share? It worked out (marginally) cheaper for us this August.

Yes I just re-checked to confirm the price.
Code share price for economy, are you sat down £2,325pp
Same economy seats direct with Virgin £953.49

Code share for Upper £2,888pp so they are cheaper than Virgin direct at £3,720

Arn't August prices great:goodvibes

... and the thing is Wayne, the Continental (TA) planes are pretty empty. I've been doing dummy bookings for some months now, and the BRS & LHR planes are showing hardly any seats booked. I really had thought by now they would be reducing the prices to fill the planes a bit.

We too are waiting for flights from Manchester for August. Keep checking on Virgin & have just realised I don't know how to get/claim airmiles, can anyone advise? Just in case the prices suddenly drop, I want to be ready.

Wayne

Do you mind me asking what dates you found those prices for?

I'm looking at going on 12th on coming home around 30th. For these dates prices are £1,810 beyond my price range. But usually pay for PE and prices with Virgin for our dates are £973 for Miami or £1,053 to Orlando so for not to much more for Biz Class would be happy to go indirect.

On a different note still can't decide if to book now or wait to see if BA do the special 2 for 1 offer on Biz Class again this year

I looked again last night, couldn't see them. they were showing on a Travelsupermarket search & Kayak search. I saw them there for about 48hrs.
No idea if BA will do that again, it was a great offer but not so good for us being a family of 3.

Thanks I'll keep an I eye out for them in case they come up again.

No we couldn't take advantage of the BA offer last year as there was 5 of us. This year 4 so could but can't decide if I should play the waiting game.

No worries Wayne, if they do it again you can borrow Craig to even your numbers up:rotfl2:
