We're taking our second DVC trip in late August 2003 to WDW? Is anyone else making plans for that time of year? I know it will be extremely hot and it won't compare to our first DVC trip we took to Disney for Thanksgiving Nov. 2002 ! Incredible experience !!!!

Take care and God Bless America!

We go every summer. Last year we were at BCV and BWV for 3 weeks in August this year we'll be doing 3 weeks in July (that way we get 6 weeks out of our AP's). It's hot but it's hot at home too and if I'm going to sweat I'd rather be sweating in WDW!! We always make sure to spend the afternoon hours at the Villa to cool off, then back to the parks at night for dinner and more touring. Have Fun!

We go every year in late august, and we love it....my wife is a teacher so we are limited when we can go...we love the pools, so it being hot really helps. I think it also forces us not to try and commando all the parks, and to take it easy a bit more....we usually spend the middle of the day at the resort in the pool, or having a nice air conditioned lunch. we try and return to the parks during the late afternoon to see either illuminations or fantasmic, and have anice dinner.

We went for 2 weeks in August last summer. This year we are going the last 2 weeks in July. Yes, it is hot, but if it is any consolation, it was hotter in Boston last year while we were in WDW!!! Go figure!!

Take it slow and stay hydrated and it will be just as magical.

Have a great time.

We will be there August 22 thru 27th. Not looking forward to the heat, but it is the only time DS and his SO could go. We will celebrate our 35th anniversary while there and also my **th birthday. :p

What kind of crowds can we expect? We are used to January lack of crowds.

Diane, crowds shouldn't be a problem at all!!! FL schools are back in session and the Souttth American tour groups are usually done by 1st week in August (from my observations in the past!!).

Althought the parks may close earlier in the evening, the crowds arenn't bad at all...........and yes, it will be hot, but the pools make for relaxing and refreshing days...and don't forget the Pina Colada!!!

Have fun.......

we love going in August. Just remember to take those pool breaks back at the hotel during the hotest part of the day. You'll have a great time!

We have gone twice in September, and the heat was awful then too. We usually went back to the villa about 1 and stayed in the airconditioning until 4 when we hit Epcot. Since one of our travelers (DS's SO) has never been to WDW before, and we only have 6 days this trip, I hope we can get her to everything she wants to do!

We go every summer to WDW. It is always hot but you just have to pace yourself and try not to overdue it. Going back to the villas in early afternoon to swim and relax is the way to go.:D

We will also be there the last 2 weeks of August. This will be our third year vacationing at this time. We love it.

We will be there at BCV 8/23-29 with in-laws and my parents and our kids. We have a 1BR and each of the grandparent couples has a studio. I have warned everyone about the heat, but it is really the only time we can all go.
As it gets closer, would love to plan a "meet"

We also go every august, mostly the second half of august. The later it gets in august the less people there are. We noticed ladt year by the end of our trip BCV was full of us northerners!

We will be there the first 2 weeks of August and do summer every year..

What we do is go early mornings so that when it gets hot we can park hop, swim or relax in the room until later in the day.
Other fun things is doing Kali river rapids 6 times in a row to get really soaked. By the way, AK is the hottest park in the summer best to do early am, once it gets hot there is no relief... Epcot has great places to go into the air cond , so it's a good mid day place.
Besides then you can cool off at BW pool and then go back refreshed.

Hope that helps

We're making our first summer trip this July: two weeks at the BCV (It's our very first DVC trip, too! :) ) Not long ago, we ran into some vets, who told us summer time is no big whoop.

Their feeling: hot is hot. It's hot in New York City. It's hot in Florida.

And, they told us this: if you have enough time (we do), and you've been to Disney before (we have) and don't need to rush around to squeeze everything in (we don't), you can do it all at a civilized pace and actually enjoy it.

Are they right? I'll let you know when we get back!

We've gone in early to mid-August the last few years and found it to be fine. As others pointed out, it's hot but you work around it with pools or water parks and by pacing yourself. We're going again on August 3rd for 10 days.

We are going for our second August visit 8/17-22.

In response to GregK, that's exactly the attitude we took last summer and had probably our best time ever (Not to mention that DD's are both old enough now to walk on their own and ride all the rides).
We went down to purchase DVC, so obviously we'd be back, so we just saw what we could, and now this year will plan on seeing things we didn't last time. Enjoy!

We are staying at the BWV for the first 5 nights, and the BCV for the last 5 nights. We haven't made a reservation for the weekend yet, because I can't bring myself to using that many points for 2 nights. I am also a Cast Member so I may pay cash somewhere. We are also contemplating Universal for the weekend if we can get a good rate.
To those of you staying for 2 or 3 weeks, do you have a ton of points and use them for the weekend nights too?

We'll be there the 3ed week in Aug. First going to HH for 3 nights then BCV for 7 nights. Cant wait! We have been in Aug before and it was one of our best trips. The mid day pool break is how we dealt with the heat!

We have gone to Disney the past 15 years during the first week of August. It is hot and crowded. We don't mind because it is Disney.

However, this year we have taken multiple trips to Disney while my son was a cast member and concluded the best time to go is late September into all of Octorber. The weather is cooler and parks are less crowded. Thanksgiving and Xmas is the most crowded time of the year. Our last trip early Jan. and the weather was like fall. You needed a light jacket. We took the cruise and did not go into the water too cool after all those August vacations. We still had a great time, enjoy!

THANKS TO ALL THAT APPLIED. WE LOOK FORWARD TO VISITING DISNEY IN AUGUST 2003 FOR OUR SECOND DVC TRIP.

HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU DVC'ers THERE. I CAN HARDLY WAIT.
