August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

Starting to hit some exiciting milestones! This is my last Friday at work before I start my vacation time!:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Even though we are spending only hours in Vancouver, as opposed to days, I took extra time off around our trip to really get in the groove.

Okay, I am officially freaking out/excited because it's so close... so much to do before leaving, yet so much fun to be had!

DH and DSs r packing their suits and ties. We bought the boys suits...only b/c we have couple events later where the boys will need a suit...and they picked out a tie each! DS12 is actually excited about formal night, b/c he said he's never wore a suit before!! True!! He's worn "fancy clothes", but not an entire suit w/a tie. I think they're excited, b/c DH wears a tie to work, and they said "now we look like daddy!"

I have a simple black dress for formal night.

I made a list for the boys! Still have to do some laundry, and we r set to pack!!

Cannot wait to meet all of u!! :flower:

Thanks Caro and Andrew for opting me OUT of MCing the meet and greet. We have nothing from ABD, yet, so have no clue what is set up for us. We should be getting our box from them the beginning of next week, nothing like waiting until the last minute, and hopefully we will have some ideas of what to expect then.

We are now back in DE from FL and I should think about packing and getting things ready now. DD started looking at clothes today and has no clue what to pack.
Took her to the doc, very early this morning, and she has tendonitis in her left knee. She has stretching exercises to day so hopefully that will help with the pain. DH found out a couple of weeks ago that he has plantar fascitis (sp?) in both feet and also has stretching exercises to do. I have it as well in my left foot and should do the stretches, but I can control mine easier than he can since he's on his feet 8 hours a day. So if you see 3 people doing stretches on the steps you will know it's us :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: .

My family is booked in this cruise...

Me (38)
DH (40)
DS (6)
DD (15mo)

Adjoining cabin
My mom and my dad

Any advice as this is our first Disney cruise???

Thanks,
Sloane from LA

LOL, anytime That's what friends are for! We look out for each other! It looks like Geffric has the meet under control!

I just assigned Kathryn the job of making sure the 3 of you :dance3: do your stretching exercises! She was quite excited! :lmao:

Thanks!

Now all I have to do is pack for everyone! :scared1: I don't even own a raincoat!

Does anyone have a list of what specifically they are packing?

I'd be really grateful!

Caro does that mean ME as I am next???

What does this mean?? Is it hard to do? Or do I just show up early and smile??? itroducing people?

If you are MC and smile, I will be there (in back somewhere) smiling back in support and solidarity.:rolleyes1

Sketchers shape-ups. I have it in both feet and the minute I put those shoes on my feet stopped hurting. Try on a pair and see if it helps.

:banana:single digit dance.

I feel your pain - I have plantar faciitis, too!!! I finally went to a podiatrist and he had orthotics made (insurance paid for them). I wear my orthotics in my Mickey Crocs around the house, do my stretches and have been relatively pain-free since.. Can I be part of your PF stretching crew this cruise? LOL!

Thanks!

Welcome aboard and welcome to the boards. I'm pretty new too. We're still trying to figure out our clothing situation. We live in sunny socal so we don't have much clothing. We stopped at the Columbia outlet store near us to pick up fleece and light rain jackets for those that didn't have anything. I've done a fair amount of hiking and backpacking and I can confirm what you'll hear from everyone else ... it's all about the layers.

I looked at the weather report today and the 10 day forecast shows rain every day for every port. I bought a nice new camera for our trip and now I'm not sure I'm even going to take it out of the cabin! :scared1:

I feel very much unprepared for this trip. We'll have fun no matter what, but it sure would be nice if that rain would break.

Barb, not sure if you have a Famous Footwear close to you or not. (we could take you to one next Saturday, if not!) Quite a few of their Sketcher Shape-Ups are on sale! http://www.famousfootwear.com/Shopp...Skechers+Shape-ups&Ntx=mode+matchallany&Nty=1

:rotfl2: :lmao: :dance3: :rotfl: This is the funniest thing I've read today. I HATE to wear any kind of shoes that restrict my feet - love my sandals. I did buy a pair of Ugg sneakers the other day to bring along and will only wear them when absolutely necessary. I even bought new socks to bring along in case I take my waterproof Clarks with me. I failed to mention that I HATE socks as well.

My doc told me I could wear any kind of shoes I want as long as my feet are happy :yay: :woohoo: . DH tried on a pair of those shape-up shoes and said they were very uncomfortable.

Thanks for the advise tho.

To me that looks like a lot for 1 person especially if you plan on doing laundry. I'd cut down on the fleece to 1 that way another can be bought as a souvenier and can still be worn. I'd also cut down on the t-shirts especially if you plan on buying souvenier shirts. To me 1 dress shirt would be enough since there's only a formal and semi-formal night, the other 5 nights on the ship the kids can wear t-shirts or replace a t-shirt or 2 with polos. A suit is not needed, unless you really want your kids to wear them - a pair of dress pants or nice khakis would look just as nice.

Not sure what kind of big jacket you plan on taking, but if you take a fleece and a turtleneck then I'd just take a waterproof windbreaker that can be worn over the fleece. From some of the pics I've seen people are in short sleeves when they are on land, even near the glacier.

For us the more we cruise the less we pack. We will wear dinner clothes more than once and we also do laundry at least once during the cruise. We've also cut down on packing t-shirts and fleece since we know we will buy them anyway.

Another thing to do is to pack clothes that you are getting ready to throw away at home and once worn on vacation just toss them so you don't have to worry about taking them home with you, it leaves more room for souvies. I have a friend that does this all the time with undergarments when she travels to Europe.
