August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

Yup, that's all you do. And, as the suggestor of the time/place for the meet,(and having far too few posts to even be consdered for the honor), I hereby appoint you "MC of the Meet". Congratulations!

Hee hee...now, it's official!! :flower:

Did everyone get the "Final Reminders Before Your Disney Cruise" email from DCL this morning? The headline read: "An incredible voyage is
coming up quick." Boy, you can say that again!! :boat: :sail:

Yep. We got ours. :cool1: I'm still trying to figure out what we are going to do in Vancouver when we get in :confused3 To many ideas. Oh well, I guess that is the problem that I want right? :rotfl:

Caro does that mean ME as I am next???

What does this mean?? Is it hard to do? Or do I just show up early and smile??? itroducing people?

Actually, I believe you are supposed to supply the first round of drinks and snacks! That's how it's been at all other DIS Meets I've gone too!

Also, if you have perhaps sailed with others in the group before and/or met them at WDW during Food and Wine, I believe they get an additional perk!

;) :lmao: :rotfl:

and that would be??? pirate:

Yep ... we got ours. I find it mildly funny that the e-mail says, in part, "start planning now". Boy oh boy ... if you haven't done any planning by now, there isn't a whole lot left to be done as there won't be much to choose from left.

I didn't get an email...but then we booked through a travel agent...maybe that is why....I'm going to contact them and see...

Looking back we should have booked directly through DCL...would have been way simpler...

Here is the text of the email we received:

An incredible voyage is
coming up quick.

Interesting that our email didn't say the part about "start planning now" that Cyclenut mentioned. I'd be interested to hear from others how their emails differ.

Thanks for sharing that email!

It is funny that they talk about planning excursions because even a month ago there wasn't much left!

I'm still hoping to get a spa appointment onboard....crossing my fingers!

Very similar. Subject line said "Final Reminders Before Your Disney Cruise"

I was wrong when I said "start your planning now" it says "Visit the Planning Center now" ... which to me implied that it hadn't visited it yet.

What are you planning for formal night? We have done the tuxedo before, but this time I was going to pack slacks, shirt and tie for my guys. "Optional Formal Attire" makes it sound that maybe no tie is required. Would a button-up shirt with Dockers be ok? Boy, that would make my men happy! I would do polo shirts for the other nights. Any suggestions?!

By the way, we are a family of 4. DH- 47, me- 46, DS-18, DS-14.

I plan on a shirt and tie for optional formal night and PALO. Wear a golf Polo the other nights to dinner.

I always bring my tux, but this time I'm adopting Joe's plan, but adding a blazer. We will be gone for a total of two weeks with days in Vancouver and Victoria before and after the cruise. That plus having to take fleeces and rainwear versus the lighter stuff for a warmer cruise was already leading to a lot more luggage than we normally take. We we just didn't want to haul the formal wear for two weeks while wearing it for just one night. We probably won't have time for anything dressy for semi-formal night, since like many people, we will be getting back from our excursions right before dinner and there is no way DW is missing her lobster tails(s)!

I'm going with dress shirt and slacks for formal night. I'm bringing a sport coat for Palo. My DS-20 is also planning on dress shirt and slacks, but he isn't joining us at Palo.

I wasn't planning on bringing a tie. Wondering now if I should reconsider.

I like the idea of the slacks and dress shirt without the tie. Not quite formal, but not as casual as a polo shirt. :thumbsup2

Dave is doing the dress shirt and slacks thing (no tie), and I will be wearing a nice dress. That is as formal as we get. Plus we are traveling across country and are trying to keep packing to a minimum.

:goodvibes
