I would prefer to keep with the 6/25 deadline - or at least not add anyone after that. If someone has to drop out, that would be understandable. I have a pretty busy summer, and want to get my FE gifts settled soon after the deadline.

OK, I'm confused. I booked through a TA (Magical Journeys) and a cabin number was already listed on my DCL receipt. Is that NOT my cabin number? Would a different number be assigned? This is my very first cruise and I am afraid that I don't know much about how this all works. And what does GTY mean? :confused3
GTY is a way of booking a cabin in a certain category but without being assigned a cabin number. You are gauranteed AT LEAST that category, but could get something better. I believe it's cheaper, but not positive on that! For GTY you are assigned a cabin about 30 days before you cruise.
Since you have a cabin number already, that is the cabin you will be in! You didn't book GTY!

A agree that we should keep the 6/25 deadline with no additional people allowed. That gives us a good amount of time to take care of FE gifts.
 
Roster continues to grow. Below contains all updates as of tonight. Just as a summary we have 20 cabins. I also counted up the kids, 15 Girls and 6 Boys so far. We need to ensure we take the following in to consideration if buying snacks:

Gluten Free and Peanut free

Someone said they are considering snow caps! Great Idea from what I understand. I don't have any kids but they are my favorite to eat during movies (Hint, Hint :rolleyes1)

I am still in need of SEVERAL e-mail addresses so I can send the FE Roster final out in advance of the cruise. PM me please if you have not. Would hate for you to get on the ship with all your goodies only to realize you don't know where to deliver them.

I will setup a time to meet as well, but this will be a very limited window as I am like a little kid when I get on the ship and start running around finalizing my plans for the week.

Does anyone know if I can leave the rosters @ Guest Services, in case someone needs them over the course of the week.

I am thinking since the cruise is pretty much sold out, we will not have many folks join after the 6/25 deadline, but we need to decide if we will allow changes after the deadline. The idea with the deadline is for those who are making / buying specific items to have a final count well in advance. Thoughts?

Rather than leaving something at Guest Services (which I'm sure they don't have time to keep track of personal items like that), you could just leave an envelope in the fish for those that don't have the roster before leaving home.
Our FE last year, the organizer delivered their gifts before we sailed and left an updated cabin list as well. This gave anyone time to notify them of any cabin changes and the list could be updated before being delivered.
 
On one of our cruises the FE chairman had a white board on her cabin door. Anyone could post info there about cabin changes or meets.
Everyone else was encouraged to swing by there daily to see changes. I think her cabin was near the Mid-ship elevators on deck 6, so was easy to find on the way somewhere.
 

I vote to keep the deadline. I need time to prep. Are we going to have a day assigned to us to pass out our items?

There will NOT be any time assigned to give out items. Just keep in mind they have to be done by the day before the cruise ends so people can pack the goodies up for the treck home.

Fish Extender (FE) Gifts - This is a fun "game" that is like a Secret Santa type idea.

Participating in the Fish Extender Gift Exchange will be limited to those who sign up PRIOR to the 45 day mark for the cruise. This is to encourcage participation in the thread and to lessen the last-minute sign-ups which could happen. It also gives everyone adequate time to prepare supplies.

This means the deadline to sign up is: Saturday 6/25/2011. Deadline is coming up quick so if you are on the fence get signed up!!!

As a group, the feedback I am getting is to hold strong to the deadline so no one will be accepted after... Sorry

Guidelines for our fish extender:
1. Each cabin is to provide AT LEAST one gift to each cabin participating in the fish extender. You can provide a gift to each person within that cabin, just the kids, or one gift for the whole cabin...that is up to you. Of course, you are welcome to give more than one gift...but the minimum is one.
2. All gifts are to be delivered between the cruise leaving port on Tuesday August 9th until 4 PM on Monday, August 15th. This gives people time to still be able to pack their bags before we leave the ship the morning of August 16th.
3.Please include a tag with your DISboard’s user name on the gift. This way everyone knows who the gift is from.
4. To take part in the FE, please provide JoeSchmieg / Joe (I know my DisBoard name is sooo creative )the following information (see below). I will post the master list periodically in this forum.
-DISboard user name
-stateroom number
-number of adults in the cabin
-number of children as well as their gender and ages
-real names
-anything else you want us to know (allergies, etc)
5. Don’t forget to check back to this thread with all the information!!!


After the sign up deadline of June 25th, I will complete master list for us to share. Then you’ll know how many FE gifts to prepare with the cabin number of where to deliver it.

I saw a couple postings with good ideas...
I will get a white board in case anyone needs to note a cabin change after we board... This will be on my stateroom door...

I will commit to delivering my goodies on Tuesday the 9th, might not be until late at night, but I'll get it done. I will include a print out of the cabin assignments as well in case anyone forgets them. Note: I am e-mailing the list with cabins in advance but just in case I will deliver another.

I love them too! How cute! I don't have a design program on my computer anymore so I can't do cool designs like that. What program did you use to make them?

I'm trying hard to figure out FE gifts...but nothing has come to me yet. I know I have a little time, but I don't want to wait for the last minute like I did for the WBTA last year.

Are there any Glee fans cruising with us? I went with my twin (who is also on this cruise) to see the live Glee concert. It was amazing! We almost missed it because of Philly traffic (we left from Allentown, PA over three hours early - it's only about 90 miles) so we were anxious when we got there to say the least. However, when we found our seats and saw how close they were to the stage, we both instantly relaxed! It was a great show!
