August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

Had a friend come back from the May 24 Alaska cruise and she said it was the best vacation she has ever had! I like to hear things like that! Still waiting to read her trip report!

I love them too! How cute! I don't have a design program on my computer anymore so I can't do cool designs like that. What program did you use to make them?

I'm trying hard to figure out FE gifts...but nothing has come to me yet. I know I have a little time, but I don't want to wait for the last minute like I did for the WBTA last year.

Are there any Glee fans cruising with us? I went with my twin (who is also on this cruise) to see the live Glee concert. It was amazing! We almost missed it because of Philly traffic (we left from Allentown, PA over three hours early - it's only about 90 miles) so we were anxious when we got there to say the least. However, when we found our seats and saw how close they were to the stage, we both instantly relaxed! It was a great show!

We took our DDs for their 16th birthday (twins) to Glee Live in Los Angeles. What a great show! Disney fanatics and Gleeks. You can't get much better than that.:woohoo:

I used a program in the computer called PAINT. I took screen shots of DCL website pictures, cropped them in PAINT, added words, cut Donald out of one and adds him to another (that was the hardest part) and saved them to my Alaska Cruise file.

FE gift idea from one not participating due to space constraints in luggage and in condo--M&Ms. Buy the big box of individual bags at SAMs or COSTCO and pass them out.

And
we lived in Bethlehem from 1987-1994.

:woohoo:I wanted some stateroom door magnets so was messing around last night with some DCL pictures. :rolleyes1

I love these - since you've already given permission, you will probably see one or two (or more :rolleyes1) on my cabin door!!!

Thanks for all your efforts!

Should I b cconcerned w/the air Canada strike? I know we still have around 2 months...but I'm just wondering... :flower:

Hi everyone! Just checking this forum out because I just discovered it! We booked this cruise in 2009 as soon as we found out Disney would be going to Alaska! Would love to "meet" some of our fellow cruisers before the trip! We are going with me, (the mom) my husband, my mom and our two kids, aged 8 and 5.

Also...I wouldn't worry too much about the Air Canada strike at this point. It is the counter staff and ticketing people so hopefully won't affect you if you already have tickets? That is my hope!

Did you book your own air fare? If so I don't know what to tell you.

If Disney did your air, then no, it's up to them to get you to the port and after the cruise to get you home.

Wasn't a great show?! I loved it! I was watching the Glee rerun tonight on TV and although it was a rerun, it was better than no Glee at all!

I'll have to look into the PAINT program. :)

M&M's...good idea! I'll have to keep that one in mind. M&M's were the favor at our wedding. :)

I'm originally from Allentown, my parent's still live there. I love going over to downtown Bethlehem at Christmas time! :)

My dad is retiring tomorrow after 38 years of teaching. It's the last day of school and following that will be his retirement dinner. I'm very happy for him (though he's taking retirement rather hard) but it's still going to be an emotional day. :)

Hope everyone is doing well!

Everyone's magnet/t-shirt designs are amazing! You are all so talented! :worship: We, too, are flying Air Canada. I am hoping that it will be all settled by the time we're going. I havent even menmtioned it to Jody - no sense both of us worrying about it at this point.

I've been reading trip reports trying to get a sense of the temps we'll have. It seems like it is getting warmer each week - hoping not to have to bring summer/spring/winter AND fall-like clothes on this trip!

Hope everyone is well - not too long now!

what did your Dad teach? What sort of hobbies does he have? Volunteers are needed in tutoring, Meals on Wheels, soup kitchens and food pantries all over the country. There are probably other places that would benefit from his time and talents.

Have a great day !

Our friends said to plan to dress in layers. Short sleeved shirts with a sweater or sweatshirt and/or windbreaker. Wear what you need from day to day.

We really hope not as we are booked on a group rate and therefor cannot check-in online and I am pretty sure we can't use the self-service kiosks. Fortunately our flight is 6am on a Sunday morning so there will probably be few people other than those on our flight checking-in. Hoping it is settled by then otherwise it could an interesting beginning to our vacation.:rolleyes1
