August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

Was able to book everything I wanted. So now off to bed! We are doing:
White Pass Scenic Railway in Skagway
Pilot's Choice Glacier Explorer for me and Mendenhall Glacier Explorer for my wife in Juneau
Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour in Ketchikan

Also had plenty of options for Palo Brunch and Dinner

Like Joe, I was able to get everything we wanted, including High Tea at Palo on Wednesday (Aug 15th) which is Jody's birthday! yay!!:cool1: Something about booking excursions and Palo makes it sems a little more real. Good night ;)

I booked excursions at all 3 ports, but had issues along the way:

Skagway: Takshanuk Mountain Trail 4x4 would not let me book my 8 year old. It said "(Not eligible due to age restrictions.)", even though she is within the age limitations of age 5 and up. I'll have to call DCL and see what's up with that.

Juneau: Disney Exclusive Glacier Dog Musher for a Day had "No reservations available", so I booked Dog Sledding on the Mendenhall Glacier by Helicopter instead.

Ketchikan: Bear Country and Wildlife Expedition wasn't even listed! So I booked Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary, Raptor Center and Totems instead.

As of right now, the only 2 excursions that appear sold-out are both in Juneau:
Disney Exclusive Glacier Dog Musher for a Day
Whale Watching and Salmon Bake

Got everything we wanted!
Palo Dinner- Wednesday night
Palo Brunch- Thursday (Tracey Arm Day)
Palo High Tea- Monday

Skagway- White Pass Railway and Trail Camp (12:00-5:00)

Juneau- Mendenhall Glacier Rainforest Garden Adventure (11:45-3:45)

Ketchikan- DCL Exclusive Enhanced Lumberjack Show (4:15-6:15)
Also doing Ketchikan Duck Tour http://www.akduck.com/ on our own.

How do I go about booking these? I just woke up and I'm very tired but when I click on the button at the bottom of my cruise plans it just loops back to the same page. I can't get Palo to come up at all.

Now I can't even login - it says someone else is logged in. Well I know MIL doesn't know how to do it and the other party with us can't book yet so leaves DS and skype doesn't show him as being on line. I am frustrated!!!!!

So how is this possible - after trying for over an hour and finally using internet explorer and a little editing of the url I get this for Palo

Sorry, we cannot book your reservation because there is no availability. Please check to see if there is any availability after you board the ship.

You have got to be kidding me:headache:

We had a similar problem with the kayak-white pass railroad excursion in Skagway. It would not let us book for our daughter who is age 9 saying she didn't meet the age restriction which was 9. We will also be calling DCL today to get that straightened out.

We were able to book Palo brunch for Thursday, Palo dinner for Sunday, and Tea for Wednesday. At the time we booked, the only slot not available was Palo tea for the last sea day. We booked the snorkeling in Ketchikan but the excursion does not return until 6:15 Pm which is too late for main seating. Since it's semi-formal night, we did not want to miss the lobster tails if they were being served, so we are going to Palo at 7:30. Not sure what show they are doing that night, but we've seen them all, so it's a small loss.

In Juneau, we booked the excluse whale encounter and Mendenhall Glacier. We may change that later to an excursion with more time at the Glacier.

well I didnr want to stay up til midnight, so i booked this am..

Got Palo dinner for Thursday, Palo Brunch for monday 8/15
Booked DH and I for Skagway Train and Suspension bridge

Still can't get in on website so I had to call at 8. Only tables for 2 left for palo brunch. I am beyond irate. They are booking 3 tables of 2 and that still leaves one of our party unaccounted for (can only book for 6). I just hope when we get on board we can make changes.

Could someone please tell me which day is formal night and am I correct that Sunday is semi-formal? Thank you?

Actualllly.... our High Tea for Jody's birthday is MONDAY Aug 15th (not Wednesday as I posted last night)... I guess I shouldn't be posting things late at night! :rolleyes1

We also booked Brunch on Wednesday 8/10 (first full day on the ship - what a way to begin the adventure!) and Palo dinner on Saturday, but I'm not sure if we'll keep this reservation or not, that will depend on our serving team/table mates... if we really like them we may cancel it since we're already doing brunch and tea.

The only excursion we were definite on was Misty Fjords Wilderness Explorer in Ketchikan, so that's all I booked, at least for now.

Day 2 (at sea)is formal night

Day 5 (Juneau) is Pirate night

Day 6 (Ketchikan) is semi-formal night

Ketchikan should be interesting. Several of the excursions get back too late for the main seating. We tried to book Palo that night and could not do it till late since the DCL system won't allow bookings within two hours of when we were scheduled to get back (at 6:15). I assume DCL will think of something to accomodate people that evening.

Day 2 (at sea)is formal night

Day 5 (Juneau) is Pirate night

.

So there IS a Pirate Night! I've been following threads on the main boards that say there is/isn't a Pirate Night. That 's good - Pirate Night will be fun even though it isnt "in the Caribbean"!

These are the people I have signed up for the Brunch, please let me know if you are still interested! (Geffric, I got your PM, so I know you are!) I believe the room holds 14.

Caropooh and DH (alanapapa)
Jilljill and DH
Geffric, DS and either other DS or DH
MassDisLovers and DD, friend and friend (got your PM today also!)
rsjj and DH, are you still interested? You PM'd me originally with questions, but I never heard back if you want to be included or not.
