My DD is Rebeca. We're in the late seating. I'm sure our DDs will love to meet! :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Hopefully I'll get a start on our packing this weekend...just a few more things to shop for and I think we're set.

Hi Dolores and welcome!

DH, DD - 9 and I live in Santa Rosa - so we're a No Cal family too! I got our docs on Wed :bounce: (although didn't discover them on the porch until leaving for work early Thurs a.m.!) I did a little dance at 5:30 in the morning!! :dancer: We are on deck 2, in the aft - so at least we are not under the bars, which was my main worry. :goodvibes

As I put my DD to bed tonight she proclaimed that this will be the best vacation of her life! Two weeks from tomorrow! :jumping1:

Anyway, I just about switched into 'freak out' mode in trying to get everything ready for the trip. :scared1: In between that is DD B'day party, travel for work and all the other stuff that clutters up our lives!

Eve, I envy you in Breckenridge - I LOVE that town. AND sorry to steal your thunder on the matching outfits!

Thanks Stacey for the advice earlier and your trip in the fall sounds great. Sorry you can't be with us, though!

Take care all and have a good weekend!

Lauren :earboy2:

Wow Stacey - First New York, NY comps you a cruise and now Mirage?? Is Jay a "whale??" - yes, Las Vegas is one of our favorite tv shows!! I've never known anyone who was comped more than just a room for the night! You are right, the Dolphin deck is all minis. That would be so cool if you and Jay won the Grand Suite...the perks in full suites is supposed to be amazing!

Dolores - We're in Visalia and driving down to San Pedro the day before we cruise. Will you be flying in?

Jenny....Congrats on 2000!!
Jay doesn't gamble....and I'm not a whale...not even close. I only play slots. But the first cruise with NY NY was based on the amount of points you earned playing within a certain amount of time, and we had been to NY NY 4 times in that period. So I guess I had enough points.
The one with the Mirage isn't a thing where they are taking high-rollers. It's more of a thank you for people who are loyal to the hotel. And, I guess it would be somewhat of a contest for the hosts. If the hosts can each get 10 people signed up, they get to go, too. So I think my host picked people who were most likely to be able to travel.......

I'm feeling your "packing panic".....I still have a ton of things that absolutely have to be done at the office....and at home....and we leave early Thursday morning. Wednesday I am NOT going to work. Final packing, and then hair and nails.....so it looks like I'll have to work tomorrow and Sunday.....oh well, it's worth it.

Welcome Dolores and DD! :wave2:
I hope we won't be rockin. My DD tends to get car sick easily...so I hope it's smooth sailing

Jinny
Both my DD and I get car sick if we read, but neither of us got sick in 30ft waves last year. I only had that feeling once while playing bingo so I passed the card to someone else (I just have to have my head level). I am bringing sea bands and bonine in case, you never know things could change. I get a little dizzy with allergies more now so I hope I am still good.

Cathy

Lauren - We're also on Deck 2, #2142. I think it's aft? Which stateroom are you in? What is your DD name? My DD is 10 - Katherine, I'm sure your DD and our DD will meet.
Jinny :earsboy:

Jinny!

We're practically neighbors!! We're in stateroom #2145! It is aft. My DD's name is Kaitlin and she just turned 9 last week. Oh, she will love having someone 'in the neighborhood' close in age! :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

This is so exciting! I can't concentrate on the work I have to finish this week before vacation! I am taking the week before off for appointments, packing, meeting with cat sitter, etc. We leave 8/4 for our DL package before. I have so much to do!!

DH is finally getting into it, he can only do that a few weeks before, unlike me who was on this thread from the beginning. :jumping1:

I know Cathy! I just realized that I only have 6 days to work before my vacation starts! I'ts really getting exciting. And look at your countdown - you leave before us so yours does this first but tomorrow you're single digits!!!

Oh yeah!! :hyper: :cheer2:

I only have 5 work days. I can't decide how to pack for DL so I don't upset the cruise stuff which I put in those vacuum bags. Maybe I should do a bag for DL with stuff for each of us and only have to open that one. What should we use for carry on bags, do I bring a backpack, fanny pack? I need a nicer purse for dinner too. This is a harder vacation to pack for than just going to the Cape where it is all casual... :hyper:

Cathy

Packing for a cruise is harder than packing for any other vacation!

I use a small bag on wheels for my carry on. By the time you get on the ship, go have lunch, find your room....you'll be glad you don't have anything on your back or shoulders.
I think your idea of having all your DL stuff in one bag is great! I do that when we have an overnight before the cruises....just put pj's and the next days' clothes on the top.....
You'll also need your carry-on to be large enough to pack the things you don't put in your bags and set out on the last night of the cruise. PJ's, toiletries......

We're back from Breckenridge! :wave2: An 11 hour drive home for us.... We had a great time! Horseback riding, hiking, biking, a chuckwagon dinner/show, shopping, a day at the spa.....I'm tired! Only 4 more working days for me before we leave for the DL part of our trip. :goodvibes I've at least moved some of our stuff to the guest room to be packed eventually. Will get to packing next week when we get back from ABQ. :scared1: Hopefully our cruise documents will be in the week's worth of mail we should be getting tomorrow..... Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Thank you Stacey mention it. I thought that I was the only one having a hard time packing. It makes feel me much better about going on the cruise.

Many thanks,
Lisa

Stacey, Thanks for reminding me about the toiletries and stuff we need to keep when we put the bags out. I don't know how it works leaving from the Disneyland Hotel to the port. On the way there we have to go to baggage claim ourselves and get our bags to catch the bus to DL. That surprised me, but I guess it is that in at WDW too when you just go there from the airport? I wanted to find my bags in the room at DL too. Maybe we have to bring them to the port ourselves on the bus...

Okay now, who is leaving for vacation first? Sounds like maybe Eve? What day do you leave home Eve? We leave Thurs. the 4th. We will have to send each other off as we go. I feel like a kid at Christmas. :goodvibes The only bad thing is that DH isn't feeling well and has to have minor surgery tomorrow. He should be fine by next week but it is another thing to worry about. :sad1:

We don't leave till the day of the cruise. It really makes me nervous, flying in that morning. DH insisted that it will not be a problem as there are flights to LAX every hour if for some reason we don't make it on ours. Then we have transfers booked with DCL from the airport to the port and that makes me nervous too. DH did promise me that if there is any hold up with the transfers we will just grab a cab and pay whatever it costs to get to the port on time(and of course I say that will probably cost the same as a hotel would have flying in the night before!!!). We have to pick up our luggage at LAX too, I would have thought they would have just arranged to have it sent to the port but this way I will at least know it made it off the plane and its heading to the same place we are!
We did not book any excursions and just figured we would just do our own thing at each port but now I'm having second thoughts and frantically researching excursions. Any suggestions? I even emailed Mazatlan Frank. He has a city tour going that day but I don't know how crazy my kids would be about that.
Cathy, hope everything goes well for your DH!

...GOT 'EM!! :thewave: The clock is REALLY ticking now! :hourglass Yes, we leave for DL on the 3rd of August at something like 6 in the morning so we'll actually be leaving home on the 2nd to spend the night in the "city". Are we really the first to leave? I got my tip envelopes done today. Finished my door decorations before we left for Breckenridge. Just ordered some Sea-Bands and have my eye on some swim shoes for DD and an over-the-door hanging organizer on eBay. :goodvibes If anyone would like me to email them the .pdf packing list out of the DCL Passporter, just PM me.... So much to do....so little time.....::MinnieMo

Healthy vibes to your DH, Cathy. :goodvibes Hope all goes well....

Kazu - I hadn't even heard about a typhoon near Tokyo. Please take care and we look forward to meeting you on the cruise! :goodvibes

Cathy....sending Pixie Dust for your husband!!

WDW just recently started the Magical Express....having your bags show up in your room. If you took a DCL cruise out of Florida, and flew in the same day, your bags would go straight to the ship..and likewise if you do a Land/Sea....Disney comes and gets your bags.
But in CA, yes...you'll have to go get your bags and take them to the bus yourself. We did that, even in Florida. Personally, I like keeping an eye on my bags. And if you go from the airport to the hotels at either WDW or CA...you have to get your own bags, yes.
I don't know what they'll do when you're at the hotel in California. I have some doubts about whether they have it set up like they do in Florida. Even if they say they'll get your bags the night before, I think I'd sooner keep them and take them to the bus myself.
