August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

My TA is off today but I just spoke with someone else in the office. She said they received docs for someone else on the same cruise yesterday but ours haven't arrived yet :sad2: She's calling DCL right now to check on ours ::yes::
Vickie

Seventeen days! Wow! You are going to have so much fun!

Definitely COKE products....notice I said that I hand-carry my PEPSI onboard.:goodvibes

Got a call back from the TA. Our docs arrived  :Pinkbounc :cool1: :dancer:
They want us to wait until tomorrow to pick them up since our TA is off today. Only problem with tomorrow is I have to work then take my DSIL to the San Francisco airport. Hopefully I can squeeze in a trip to the TA. Everything is in different directions so I may not get the docs until Friday.

I picked up our docs today and finally know our flight stuff. We have to fly to Atlanta for 2 1/2 hours before we head west. Then we fly all the way from there. We arrive at 11am PDT which isn't too bad. The way home will be long and yucky, but I won't think about that yet.

Cathy

I managed to find out about the flights for our Royal Caribbean cruise. That had me worried. I hate being confined on long flights.
The bad news is that they have us going to Florida on a red-eye. The good news is that we fly for 2 1/2 hours to Dallas, then another 2 1/2 to Miami. I can deal with that. At least I will be able to get out and walk some. It IS a non-stop coming home, but I can sleep....I'll be exhausted.
And...the rooms are teeny tiny...but at least they have balconies. Whew. By teeny tiny...I mean they are smaller than the smallest Disney room, by a long shot.
Is it too late to change plans and come with you guys?????????
Let's see....bigger rooms...one hour flight......DCL....no contest!

Finally, our docs arrived today! Yipee! :jumping3: :cheer2: :dancer:

I read on another thread that the Magic has been really rockin...
Don't forget to bring those dramamine and scopalamine patches!
That reminds me, I need to get those!

Congrats on getting your docs! There's not too much to fill out in them so that is good!! You may want to pick up Bonine (or the generic equivalent) as it is non-drowsy compared to dramamine. My dr. as well as the pharmacy recommended it. The pharmacist also recommended that when using the patch, don't touch the patch and then your eyes as it will affect your vision!

The "live thread" is kinda scary reading about all the motion sickness. I am one of those "sympathetic" people that get sick when others do. I am so fortunate that both DDs didn't get "sick" alot when they were little or I would have been out of commission too!

Brynee chose/bought new luggage today so she'll be getting into the packing mode soon! Hope everyone is having a good week...it has been over 100 degrees for the past 9 days :sunny: :sunny: ...plus, it's humid today!

Hi everyone,
Just found the DISboard and hope to meet you onboard! DD8 and I are very excited and are counting down the days. We cruised Hawaii on NCL two years ago, but are much more excited about our 1st Disney cruise. :earsboy:

Welcome Dolores and DD! Glad you found us before cruising!

Welcome Dolores and DD!

By the ship rocking, do they say how many feet the waves are? Last time we had 30 feet and that didn't bother me, but if it was more? I never heard of anyone getting sick that time either - maybe they just stayed in their rooms? I better check my Bonine supply. Is the choppy part mostly the first 2 days at sea and the last day at sea?

Jenny, When is Brynee's show again? Was it tonight? Jess' is next week Thurs and Friday.

Cathy

Hi Dolores! I'm Stacey...I started this thread, but unfortunately won't be going along. We found out a while back that our kids' school starts earlier than usual this year. But we were lucky enough to get to go on DCL on the Mexican Riviera in June. I like all these cruisers so well, I can't tear myself away from the thread!

Did anyone hear about the drownings in Cabo today? I'm really hoping they weren't cruisers.....Dad, Mom, son and daughter. I guess a wave came up and knocked Mom and the kids down & out in the water. Dad managed to grab the son, but couldn't get to the Mom and girl in time. :sad1:

My plans seem to change as often as the days turn into night. Jay & I have decided to not go on the RC cruise next month. It would be leaving the week after I get back from WDW with the kids, and we'd be gone for the first week of school, and a few other little reasons...so we're backing out. It would just be way too much for me to try to get caught up at work, at home, get the kids ready for school....
We received a different invitation to cruise Princess in late October, and we are going to do that instead. By then, I will have recovered from all the summer travels and will be anxious to take off again.
Maybe now I really should check and see if there's still a room on this cruise!

Dolores

Welcome Dolores! DD16 and I look forward to meeting you and your DD. Most DISers on this thread will be on Deck 10 Starboard for the Sail Away Party...please join us :goodvibes !

Cathy - Opening night for Brynee is tomorrow! It should be a great show :rose: ! We'll go to opening and then closing and I'm working in the lobby for both Saturday matinees. The show closes on the 30th!

The waves were reported to be 12-15 feet and the DISer reported many people were getting sick during a show! I have Bonine, patches and the sea bands! May get ginger to take along with the Bonine...don't want to do the patch unless I really need to.

Stacey - Congrats on the Princess cruise! Will that be to the Caribbean? I'm anxious to hear your review of the ship as we will be on the Sapphire to Alaska next summer. Everything I read on the CruiseCritic boards is that Princess is fairly comparable to DCL. Your expert opinion will be appreciated. That's sad news about the family in Cabo :sad1: ; the situation in London is also frightening!

I think the waves we had on the last night at sea, heading back to L.A. were about 12' or so....we were rolling pretty good....but not what I would consider bad. The time in Florida, when the dresser drawers were going open and shut, and the closet doors were sliding....now THAT was bad.

Jenny..we have friends cruising Princess next month to Alaska....I can give you their report! Trouble is, they're picky eaters, and tend to get sea-sick and look for the "bad" in things....so I guess we'd have to have an open mind when hearing their report!

This is going to work out much better for us. I need some time here to get caught up and stay caught up...and with school starting, I just feel I should be here. It does help that at least the October cruise is being planned much further in advance, and the rooms are nicer. Plus, we really enjoy some of the people we will be cruising with, and that's a HUGE plus, as we all know!!
It's the Caribbean Princess...to the Eastern Caribbean. St Thomas, St Maarten....we were there at Christmas, but this time we can do different excursions.

Welcome Dolores and DD! :wave2:
Where do you live in California?

We're all getting very excited and can't wait to go! :Pinkbounc :bounce:
Now that we got our cruise docs, I'm just starting to get organized with my packing list.
I hope we won't be rockin. My DD tends to get car sick easily...so I hope it's smooth sailing

Jinny

I picked up our docs yesterday!!! I just keep looking at those countdown timers because I can't believe its almost here! I guess I need to seriously go through my closet this weekend!
Vickie

Stacey - Will you be in a suite or mini-suite on the Princess? We have an aft mini-suite booked on the Emerald deck which has the largest balcony of all minis...so we hope we will enjoy it. We aren't that picky about food as fast-food is usually fine for us! Have a fantastic time at WDW...it should be exciting to see what they have done for the 50th!

Vickie - These next 2 weeks will go by quickly! Are Kenney and Sara getting excited? Brynée has to stay focused on her "Beauty and the Beast" production so she hasn't mentioned the cruise for awhile...not even when she was choosing luggage!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! DD Traci and I are off to work-out. We just joined a new gym, In Shape City, and got a family membership so that will be motivation for DH and I to keep exercising!

Jinny, We're in San Jose. We haven't been able to make it to Florida for a Disney cruise so this West Coast Magic itinerary worked out perfect for us. We staying to enjoy DL for a couple days before returning home.

Stacey, sorry you won't be joining us...glad you didn't miss the chance entirely. Those pesky school dates often mess up the best of plans. I guess continuing on this thread lets you relive some of the excitement and help the rest of us out along the way...thanks!

Itinkso, I've got Deck 10 Starboard on my notes...thanks! Thanks everyone for all the great advice!

Our host said we will all be in "suites"...but I looked at the ship's deck plans. I think they will all be mini-suites on the Dolphin deck. Those are the only "suites" where there would be enough to book for a group. I would LOVE to have had one of the rooms in the Aft, with the big balconies. We like the Aft the best, anyway.
The hotel is having a Bon Voyage party the night before we fly out, and they are going to have a drawing...one lucky person will get the Grand Suite. That's in the aft....but it won't be me, I stink at drawings...never win.
And we aren't picky about the food, either. Jay & I both end up ordering the same things on DCL all the time....doesn't help that he's allergic to fish, either. But I'm sure the Mirage will have us as a group at dinner......hoping Jay and I can just sneak to the buffet one or two nights. Maybe we won't want to...who knows?

Wow Stacey - First New York, NY comps you a cruise and now Mirage?? Is Jay a "whale??" - yes, Las Vegas is one of our favorite tv shows!! I've never known anyone who was comped more than just a room for the night! You are right, the Dolphin deck is all minis. That would be so cool if you and Jay won the Grand Suite...the perks in full suites is supposed to be amazing!

Dolores - We're in Visalia and driving down to San Pedro the day before we cruise. Will you be flying in?
