August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Eve from what I have read that was a smart move getting the kids passports. Now you have to take that trip to China in the next 4½ years  . The passports need to be valid for 6 months after your trip to go to some countries. I need to check DD's expiration since we are planning on going to Australia next year, I know they have to be valid for 6 months to go there.

Let us know if you have any questions or comments. This is so much fun having new people on board. We have been on this thread for a year now and it seemed so far away.

What am I going to do after the cruise when I don't have a thread to post to?
I guess I just put my 2 cents in on other topic threads. DH wants to do a different cruise or see the Grand Canyon or something next vacation. I told him I may rebook onboard for a few years down the line if they let you.

Cathy :cool1:

Cathy this thread will always be here to post to. The 10 day Christmas thread is still going. If they can do it so can we :cheer2:

We may rebook onboard and then transfer our ressie when the 2007 dates are released, that way we will get the 10% discount and the onboard credit. Gotta love free money to spend on the ship.

Jenny - Asian club - what a great idea. ::yes:: I don't think we would have quite enough interest around here, though.

Eve - Out of the dozen or more kids yesterday, only 3 were Asian!! Brynee was also the soph class president but rather than have me advise the soph class "club" she wanted an Asian club! Next year we'll probably change the name to Asian*Pacific*American club - 1 of our members was an exchange student from Turkmenistan...I didn't even know that was a country so I learned something new from my club experience :goodvibes !

Alien Green is the preferred DIS Home Depot paint chip (according to the other threads I have read)! I did pick up a few different colors too to decorate our door! I guess I can find something in "lime green" to wear if that is what we are deciding to do.

Barb - Are you the "official" leader :wizard: of the group??!! Please?, you do have the most DCL experience!!

On another note - have you guys heard about the jellyfish problem in Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan? Anyone know anything about jellyfish? We are booked for the Paradise Beach Adventure in PV and now I'm worried about letting the kids in the water.

Yes I've been reading about this. Seems people are saying you can't even predict if they will be there or not. Seems one day the beach was full of jellyfish and the next day there were none. The other interesting thing is that I read the eggs can sting you. There was a thread somewhere that said they had gone in the water because there were no jellyfish, only eggs and they got stung by the eggs! Paradise beach was the excursion we were thinking about too. Didn't like the early time for the morning excursion though!

That is good news, I was afraid of withdrawal symptoms. I have a lime green Castaway Cay t-shirt I could wear, but I have a DIS button that I thought I'd put on my shirt. Last time I saw people with lime green name tags on. I may check out the paint chips at Home Depot.

We don't have a Home Depot nearby. :sad2: OK, I'm being a little dense but is a "paint chip" that little piece of paper/sample color they let you take home to match colors with? Would someone please send me some too?:flower1: Awwww bummer....according to the Navigators from the inaugural cruise, my foot treatment/pedicure will be at the same time as the galley tour. Ah well.....I think I'll leave it the same for now.

Eve do you live in the middle of no where?!? :rotfl: You have no disney Store near you, no Home Depot near you.....you poor soul. Unfortunately for us HD is 3 minutes away and that's it you hit the 3 red lights. That is 1 store that I really don't like to go to.

Stacey did say that because of the stomach flu that is going around there is a chance they won't do the galley tour. So you can play that one by ear. Also, this week they have changed things around from the first week, so don't think those plans are set in stone. Stacey has the Navigator's that she will share with us when she gets back.

I vote for Barb too ~ :)
I didn't even know there was an election going here :confused3
What do you want me to do and I will see if I can accomidate?!?

Heard from Stacey early this morning. They are still having a blast and are very tired. She will have tons of information for us when she gets home :Pinkbounc . Not that I want her trip to end, I just want to know things.
I think all the excursions they booked were on their own, nothing thru Disney. That way she can tell us her experiences.
She did say they are doing the Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer show at 2:00 on Friday, so there was no night time version of the show. I'm sure the theatre will be packed.

Middle of nowhere is almost an exaggeration. :rotfl: We have a super Walmart and Kmart. No Target. No Children's Place (LOVE their clothes!). I do shop at Goodys quite a bit - their clothes are pretty cute. Wish we had a Sam's Club too but that'll never happen. Restaurants are the same - very limited selection. No Japanese food!! The local supermarket does sell fresh sushi which is pretty darned good. One of the sacrfices we've made to live in a community that's good for raising kids, low crime, good for our practices, etc. At least the city is about 1.5 hours away.

Navigators are the daily schedules of all activities onboard. You receive them nightly for the following day's activities. On our cruise last year (RCCL), we took highlighters to mark all the things that were of interest. The girls had their teen navigators and we had the regular ones.

Here's a link to the West Coast Navigators http://tagrel.com/dcl/dclwcnav1.shtml

My friend who will be on the July 2 cruise printed them out and there were quite a few pages...she printed them at work :teeth: !

Highlighters.....gotta add those to the bag that I have decided to start as I see things around the house we need for the trip.
Thanks for the reminder.

OMG - I should start a bag shouldn't I? I never want to start too early because then I get too excited. I need to pretend it is a ways off yet. I should at least start my list. I am a list maker, I have work "To Do" lists and home "To Do" lists.

Did you say they have stomach flu on the ship?? I hope that clears up before we go, that would be horrible. :sad2: I hope Stacey and her family are okay.

Cathy

Cathy anyone who knows me would think my body has been hijacked :teleport: for wanting to start a bag for stuff this early. DH looked at me like I had 3 heads today when I mentioned the bag and I couldn't believe I said it. I can't even plan for dinner until the last minute let alone start to gather things for a cruise that is 8 weeks away, but I'm going to do it this time. For one thing, it's not like we can just throw something in the truck at the last minute before we run out the door, we usually drive to FL.

Eve, DH and I were planning to go to Home Depot tomorrow and I was going to look for the paint chips - if you'd like some let me know and I will send you some. I'll just pick up a bunch (w/o trying to look too obvious!) :rolleyes1

Also, we are on the early seating so if someone wanted to link to us to try and get it, that's fine. I have no idea what that entails, but it's the least I can do, everyone is so helpful here.

Okay, now that I think about it - how exactly does the seating work? I know we have rotations and keep the same servers - is the seating like a restaurant where they just seat you - or do you have a certain table every night? I just wondered.

Welcome Lisa! Also, my DD is 9 too (I think I remember you said yours was?). She was asking me the other day if there were going to be any 9 year old girls there! Being an only child, she loves other kids so is looking forward to meeting others. I just thought about it, her birthday is July 17, the same day as Disney's actual anniversary. We won't be able to make it down then though, oh well.

Take care everyone,
Lauren

Lauren you keep the same table number every night for dinner. On the bottom of your key to the world (KTTW) it will give you your dining rotation and table number. When you go in the first night you will be seated at the proper table and the remaining nights you can either go directly to your table or they will seat you if you wait for them.

As far as linking ressies together for dining you just have to call DCL or your TA and give them the names and ressies numbers of the people that you want to sit with.
They are more than happy to sit you with people you want to be with. On one cruise we had 13 people and they used a table of 8 and a table of 6 and just pushed them together every night for us. The first night they waited until we arrived and asked if we wanted the tables together or separate. Our servers had our 2 tables and another table with a family of 4 that looked unhappy all week.

Hope that helps.

Hi Barb,

Thanks for the info., I wondered how it worked. Too bad that family was not happy all week, seems hard to believe given they were on vacation on a great ship! We aren't traveling with anyone, so no need to request the linking. I just didn't know what it was for. Thanks again!

Lauren
