August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

::yes:: !! Thanks for updating the list Eve!

I'm thinking Brynée might bring a CD and sign-up for the talent show! She just did a "solo" in her dance show so maybe she might use that dance number...she loves to dance :goodvibes .

Eve once again thanks for the summary. But I have 2 corrections; we are going to D'land after the cruise and we have moved into our house, I forgot to tell you that before.

Oops - I did have DL after DCL - that was a typo. Congrats on your new house - I wondered if you hadn't already moved in. I'd love to see pics!

First it was trading husbands and now it's trading kids.....what has this thread come to?!? :rotfl: :teeth:  :rotfl2:

Thanks for the updated list Eve! :flower:

I am loving the updates from Stacey through Barb and on the thread.

I am wondering about the talent show, do you think you have to bring music if you sing? Jess might be too shy to enter, but I'll tell her about it.

Cathy

Cathy the talent show is all new to me. Stacey can tell us all about it when she gets back. Who knows, maybe Jess will enter. She won't know that many people on board.

Hi Calliegirl! My DD just turned 8 today so if your DD goes to the Oceaneer lab, they will be in the same group! What is your DD's name? We are a family of 4: myself, DH (Seth), DD (Amina), and DS (will be 6 yrs old, Rhys). Welcome to the group!

Hi Eve,

My name's Lauren and yes DD is named Kaitlin and she will definitely be at the Lab! Thanks for the nice welcome! I haven't been able to post much the last few days - it has been a chaotic few weeks here. I was home with DH on and off as he was recuperating from sinus surgery. Wasn't supposed to be a big thing but he developed excrutiating migraines for 2 weeks after and after multiple dr. visits, an ER visit and an overnight stay in hospital, is finally better and back to work today. I work fulltime as well, commuting to San Franciso each day - so am typically gone 12 hrs. at a time. ANYWAY, long story short, time has just gotten by me! (Plus did I mention I have two new puppies? I'm a glutton for punishment!)

Today I upgraded from our Cat 12 to Cat 10 as I just figured, what the heck? I was worried about the noise as I heard those Cat 12 rooms can be noisy and DH need his sleep! So, I feel better about that. Just my luck - I was going to do Cat 11 as they had them available on the website and after much discussion and decisions with the DCL rep, the Cat. 11 disappeared during our phone conversation!!! Oh well. I'm happy with the Cat 10. But, shhhh, DH doesn't know I upgraded! :rolleyes1

And thanks for the recap - that was really nice, especially for us newcomers!

Our Palo reservations are for 6:00 for enquiring minds! I didn't know what time to pick - so figured I would just pick the same time as our seating.

I am loving Deb's update on the first week, and the Personal Navigators that are posted. It's so fun to see what we will be doing!

DD and I went shopping last weekend (for her it's a competitive sport). Went to Penneys and found an evening gown for formal night. I wasn't going to buy one, but happened to look at the clearance/sale area and found one - among all the prom dresses - a black strapless number that originally went for $100.00 - for...ta...da...$16.40. :cool1: Then DD and I went upstairs and found a dress for her that almost matches it. So, I think that was my personal best for a dress. I never spend much on evening wear as most of the restaurants DH and I go to have servers who say "You want fries with that?" :rotfl:

Last but not least. Welcome Ememememem! (As you can tell, I'm no expert, so don't count on me for advice!)

BTW, I have not made any pre Disneyland hotel ressies. I think we may stay at San Pedro the night before, so thanks all for the info on the hotels - I found a site that had some listed as well. There is one more hotel, the Marina Hotel at 2800 Via Cabrillo that used to be a Hilton property. (I used to stay there on business) It was nice at the time a couple of years ago when I used to stay there- but I don't know if they have parking thrown in or not. Just wanted to give you an FYI.

Thanks all!

Lauren

Okay, I'm posting a reply to my own post! Can you tell I'm tired? I forgot to add a couple of things. DD decided she wanted to dress up for pirate night (DH, Keith and I will probably wear tropical). She is going to take an old pair of jeans, cut them off and cut them up the leg, so they look shredded. She then got a white shirt and is going to do the same, just shred the sleeves and cut vertical strips up from the hem. She got a pirate hat from the party store and eye patches (99 cents a bag). So, she is set.

Also, I am not surprised by the weather in So. Cal in May. It can be chilly in the morning and it gets cold at night. I'm sure on the boat the wind makes it colder too. By August it will be a little warmer, but I think I'll bring jeans and a sweatshirt too.

Good night!

Lauren

Hi Everyone,
My dear friend Jinny (Jasak) introduced me to the forum. Our two families will
be sailing together on the August 6th West Coast cruise.

Me, DH, 9DD, 2DS are really looking forward to our first Disney cruise! :thewave:

I've been trying to read through the entire thread, lot's of great information!

Bye for now,
Lisa

:wave2: Welcome Lisa, I'm glad you decided to join our group. Yes, there is a lot of valuable information on our thread, on the main boards there is a wealth of information as well. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Cathy, I was just looking at the Navigator's that moley (another DIS'er) has posted and the talent show takes place Friday evening in Rockin' Bar D if that would help out Jess. I noticed they have rehearsals Friday afternoon as well.

Here's a link to the Navigator's: http://tagrel.com/dcl/dclwcnav0.shtml
I hope I'm allowed to post the link here since it is already posted on the main cruise board.

Welcome Lisa! Yay! I'm so glad to see we aren't the only DISers on this cruise! :cheer2: Are you Asian too? (I was judging based on your nic - does it have something to do with a cat?)

Barb - thanks for the link to the Navigators! I just booked an Elemis Sole Delight Foot Treatment with Pedicure for Friday @ 3 pm. I had a tough time deciding which day/time to book it - there are still a LOT of choices online. Any suggestions on booking preferences for the spa anyone?

Wow I just had a little shock! I went to the DCL website to check out excursions again and it says I can't book excursions because my cruise is not paid in full. I made final payment to my TA on May 25th so I called DCL (too early to call TA) and they confirmed my cruise is not paid in full. Of course I panicked thinking its after the final due date and of course I think they've given my rooms away! She reassured me they did not! Especially since it was about 3/4 of the way paid from previous payments. So I'll be calling my TA as soon as he's in to see what is going on. The funny thing is the DCL site let me book Palo and spa ressies weeks ago and now it won't let me do anything.
