August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Vickie: Brynee is also on a block schedule but she still has 6 classes each semester. Her summer school is 4 days/week, 4 hours/day!

Summer school here is Mon through Thurs, 8 am until 2 pm! This is the first year they have done it until 2, last year they got out at noon. If they miss more than one day they are dropped (no excuses, not even medical) and if they are late more than 5 minutes they are dropped after the 3rd tardy (no excuses). The hard part is that summer school is alternated between the 2 high schools, every other year and this year it is not at his school but at the one on the other side of town and I start work at 8 am in the complete opposite direction (DH starts at 7 so he's no help) not quite sure how we're going to accomplish this!

Hey There!!

A very quick hello and check-in! What fun! You guys are going to have such a great time!
It is very different than what we are used to, but still the "Magic".

It's chilly these first two days and nights, you'll want long pants and a jacket or sweater/sweatshirt.

Castaway gift is a blanket that has "Special Mexican Riviera Cruise" on it.
No pins, though, for CC gift.
Haven't seen if they have special pins for the cruise, will look tonight.
They DO have shirts, hats and keychains and such in the stores w/ the special cruise on them.

That's all my time for now. I'll sign on later. Doesn't seem like many people want the computers, always empty when I go by.

Talk to you later!
Stacey

Wow Stacey :cool1: Thanks for posting! I'm anxious to hear what's for sale in the stores! Enjoy the :mickeybar :mickeybar !!

Hey everyone - checking in and updating... Have 5 pages of posts to catch up on. We got back into town on Monday night and took the rest of the week to "catch up" here at home and get ready for Amina's birthday party. She had her birthday party yesterday - a DIVA party. It went well but I'm still recovering today. Ankle is still hurting - went to ortho on Friday and he said to give it 6 months to heal. We also had a very MAD kitty cat while we were gone and....long story short.....had the carpet people here last Friday ripping up carpet, removing the pad, and treating the concrete. They come back tomorrow to lay a new pad and carpet. Amina's actual birthday is tomorrow and I took the day off work to spend with her to do whatever she wants....she's still trying to decide what to do tomorrow.....lol.... Will try to catch up on posts later this week.....

Eve sorry to hear the ankle is still giving you trouble. Didn't you tell the ortho that it has to heal in 2 months because you have a vacation to enjoy?!?

:bday: to Amina, hope she enjoys the day :cake:

Stacey thanks for checking in, saves me from relaying messages from you. Have fun

Cathy, glad to hear the passports arrived, sounds like you are really getting ready now. I did read that the passport lines moved much quicker than the birth cert. line for debarking.

Eve - Extend our :bday: wishes to Amina!! Did you spend the day shopping?

Cathy - Sounds like you are all set to go! Finally made our ressies at the Sheraton for their stay/cruise package. I think that was the last major pre-cruise thing for me to do.

Barb - I just pm-ed you.

:cheer2: Only 2 more months for our turn :boat: !!

Thanks for checking in Stacey, good to hear the news from the Magic. I will definately pack some warmer things this time. Have fun in the ports the next three days!

Happy Birthday to Amina! :bday: :thewave:

Hi all,

Just found this site and we are going on the 8/6 Magic Cruise. We being DH, and DD who will be 9 at the time of the cruise and of course myself! Anyway, first cruise period for us, so we are all very excited - or at least DD and myself. (She is fit to be tied!)

I'm just getting my feet wet, reading up on all things 'Disney' to prepare. I do all the planning, etc. and DH basically comes along with the ride. He doesn't mind and I like to plan, so we're a perfect fit! :love2:

Anyway, looks like much fun. I was a little disappointed that the dolphin encounter was already sold out on the 75th day, but figured it was God's way of saying I was spending too much $$ on shore excursions. So, we are doing the rainforest hike instead.

All in all, I'm looking forward to relaxing, eating and seeing new sights. Not necessarily in that order! :Pinkbounc

Hi Calliegirl! My DD just turned 8 today so if your DD goes to the Oceaneer lab, they will be in the same group! What is your DD's name? We are a family of 4: myself, DH (Seth), DD (Amina), and DS (will be 6 yrs old, Rhys). Welcome to the group!

Hi all!

Thanks for the offer! I bet I will have lots of questions as time gets closer. One thing I did was make a Palo reservation for dinner on the 5th night since I definitely wanted to see the Animators Palate show - as I guess they only do it on the first rotation. In talking with the DCL rep on the phone, she said they would definitely do the Pirate's night on this cruise. So, I guess my only angst is that we reserved a night at Palos that could either be a formal night (I told DH that I wanted to see him in a tuxedo - first time ever - and he's game) or pirates night. Any ideas on when formal/sem-formal nights are? I understand you get your rotation when you check in.

We have Palo's ressies on Wednesday night too - what time is your res at?

Hi all,
Glad I found this. We (DH, myself, DD 10, and DD 5) will be going on our first cruise together! Can't wait. DH and I cruised once before in the Caribbean, on the RCCL. Does anyone know if our daughters need to dress up on formal and semi-formal nights? Do most girls dress up? Thanks, Jinny :flower:

Welcome Jinny  - I got terribly behind in this thread and am playing catch up so sorry for all the fragmented posts. It's easier for me to answer as I read the thread instead of saving it all up for a huge single post. It's also easier to reach a T.O.P. that way too, lol. ;)

My DS will be 6 on the cruise. I think your DD and my DS be in Oceaneer Club together, then. Great! What's her name?

What do people bring for Pirate's night? I have no clue, maybe a bandana and an eye patch?

Cathy pirate: pirate: pirate:

Cathy - I remember reading somewhere that the pirate's night was either pirate dress or tropical dress. I think we'll do tropical with leis that we had from a daddy/daughter girl scout hawaiian night earlier this year ~

Thanks for the birthday wishes - we had a wonderful day. We drove to the "city" and went to Celebration Station. Wow - what a hopping place. We spent 4 hours there and rode the bumper boats twice, the mini go-carts twice, a round of miniature golf, and 2 rides on the "big" go-carts. Spent a load of money on tokens to play games and Amina won over 1,180 tickets and got 4 holes-in-one! It sure was her day! She got a karaoke machine from us and had an awesome time using it at her "diva" party on Saturday. Ahhhh....sniff....I have tears in my eyes thinking about how happy she was....

I thought that surprise T.O.P. was very talented as well. I think my last couple of T.O.P.'s have been surprises, the best kind unless you are racing with someone to pirate: one. :teeth:
