Page 3 and I was the last one to post over a week ago... This is depressing :sad1:

She got a part in the Drama Club production of "The Crucible" (an accused witch Sarah Good). Doesn't sound like a fun musical but she is happy about it.

Cathy
Cathy, Kenney just finished reading The Crucible for his English class.

I've been popping in reading lately but haven't posted anything. Last week Wick took me on a hot air balloon for our anniversary. It was a great experience! Here are some pictures.

That looks really cool Vickie!! :jumping1:

It must be so quiet and wonderful up there. Did you see anything you knew like your neighborhood or a landmark? How do they make sure they avoid powerlines? I've always been curious but nervous because of heights and all.

What a nice thing to do though... The photos were wonderful.

My friend's son is reading The Crucible in 10th grade too. I guess she will know the story if she reads it later on. She is going to be reading Romeo and Juliet next in her English class.

Jess is off at a Halloween party tonight dressed as Spongebob, I didn't take a photo because she is dressing there, maybe Monday night when she hands out candy at a friend's house in costume. We don't get any kids, but we do have a new 2 yr. old neighbor so I bought some candy in case. I always put the light on.

Vickie that looked like an awesome adventure. Not sure it is something I could 'stomache' doing.

Today was my mom's b'day and my brother's family, my dad and our family surprised her with dinner at Don Pablo's. She had even cooked a chicken and baked a cake for herself. She was very surprised.

Alexa is going to be reading Julius Cesear this year. She's in 6th grade. She had me buy her Romeo and Juliet last week so she can read it too, she really wants to read it :confused3

I was thinking of holidays things that I need to do and cards came to mind. If anyone wants to exchange cards please PM me your address and I will PM mine as well. thanks,

Cathy, We were in Napa which is about 90 minutes from our house. We were in the middle of a bunch of vineyards and flew over many wineries that the pilot pointed out to us and I took tons of pictures. We landed in a little road between the fields. She was in contact with the crew on the ground via walkie talkie when it came time to land. They met us at the site she picked (which changed several times because she couldn't get us to the original ones) and the grabbed the ropes she threw over as we came within several feet of the ground. There were no poewr lines anywhere near us.
The only noise beside her narrating our location was when she would shoot the flame up into the balloon to change our altitude. You have no concept of movement at all, in fact when we first left the ground I was looking out not down and I didn't even realize we were off the ground until some one said something.
Here is a picture where we were coming down to land. You can see the van they took us back in and the truck and trailor they loaded the balloon on. That is the road we landed on inbetween the 2 vehicles. I love seeing the shadow of the balloon!

Thought I would add this picture for fun. This is the author Danielle Steele's husband's country home. The road we landed on eventually led to this house. I took the picture when we were flying over the house heading to land.

It was harvest time, here are some vines that had not yet been harvested.

Barb, I will PM you my address and if anyone else wants to exchange Christmas cards, please PM me your address and I will send mine back.

Hi Everyone! Been so busy with work and the kids. Here's the pic we took last night before the kids went to the Scare on the Square downtown:

We also got a new puppy last weekend:

She's part bassett and part beagle....a Bagle, I'm told. LOL. She's very sweet, only about 7 weeks old so the housebreaking thing is ongoing. Our older bassett, Lucy, seem indifferent.

Great pics Vickie! I've never been up in a hot air balloon but we used to see them all the time at the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque while we were growing up.

I was busy last week with an Enid Symphony Concert - we played Stravinsky's Firebird Ballet Suite, a Brahms piece (Academic Festival Overture), and had a violinist as a guest artist who played a Greek piece by Makris - he was awesome. I hosted a baby shower at our house yesterday afternoon. Spent all day today clearing off my desk and otherwise catching up (laundry, bills, ironing, etc, etc). I'm pooped! Good thing I had an extra hour (sort of, since I got up kinda late this morning) today.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Happy Halloween!!

Still have fond memories of this cruise. But not of the plane ride out and back. Don't know if I'd do it again. The Hot Air balloon stirred memories twice we've scheduled trips and both cancelled due to weather, so we figured God is trying to tell us something so I guess this is something we won't experience. I still have fond memories of white water rafting on the Colorado and the hellicopter ride out The scariest thing in my life, my hair hasn't grown since.

Wish you had introduced yourselves before the cruise so we would have had a chance to meet onboard.
We met some great DIS'ers and had many wonderful times with them. We will cherish the memories forever. :grouphug: :cloud9:

Cool photos Eve of the kids in costume and the new puppy is adorable! :paw: :dog2: Jessica loved him.
Hi John, Glad you liked the cruise we took.
Maybe some of us will end up on another cruise together. I keep forgetting we rebooked for Thankgiving week 2006 (because I know we are moving it to 2007 but I better remember to do it!)

We had Jessica's 14th birthday party yesterday even though it isn't until the 20th. We do hers with her cousin Ariana who is 12 and Ari is going to be at WDW with her father the next two weekends (lucky girl!!) :earsboy: :earsgirl: Glad Jess didn't have a knife, she was kidding around for the photos. The boy is Ari's half brother Holden (3).

Great pics everyone. I'm photo challenged on this board.

Here's a mission for anyone interested. Alexa wants to see how many states our little potato can visit. If you don't mind clicking the link and entering your zip code we would appreciate it: http://www.passthepotato.com/potato-2.php?potatoid=051012150241-671677
Please feel free to pass it along to your family and friends.
thanks so much,

No one's posted for a while. Just thought I'd say hi and bump us back to page one!
Hope everyone is well and getting ready for the Holidays!
Vickie

Thanks for bumping us Vickie.
Also hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Everyone - have a great Thanksgiving! We're expecting 7 more family members to join us by Wednesday for the holiday so we'll be extremely busy...and I'm on call Wed/Thurs. :faint: Hope you all have a nice and safe holiday!

Yes, I just wanted to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving too! We have 6 people coming besides us. Steve will be cooking the traditional favorite with my mother bringing her yams and my sister-in-law bringing a Bumbleberry pie (anyone know what that is?) We'll also have pumpkin and apple pie.

Cathy

:drinking: :earboy2:

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Turkey Day!!! We are going to my brother's so I made a key lime pie and pecan pie. Got off easy in that department.
It feels like it should be Christmas outside instead of Thanksgiving....it's SNOWING out now. It's been 16 years since we've had snow before Thanksgiving and I don't like it one bit.
Have a safe and happy holiday!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Barb, We've been having clear sunny 70 degree days this week! Cold at night, but nothing near your kind of cold!

I didn't learn about the DIS till we were on the bus back to the airport after the cruise, feel like we missed the boat. Still had a wonderful cruise, maybe we'll meet up on another cruise.

It's nice that you joined us on here, even if after the cruise.
We aren't too far from you, we live in DE. Looking forward to another cruise, now sounds like a good time given the temperature here :cold: :cold:

Hope everyone had a good Turkey Day.

Barb, It is funny that you remember it was 16 years ago that we had snow for Thanksgiving because I do too! It was our first Thanksgiving after we were married and we had to drive to my parent's house in it. I just remember it was unusual to have a white Thanksgiving... :cold: :cold:

So much for that 'winter feeling' of last week; it was 70º today. It was a nice day for hanging outside Christmas lights.
