Vickie - you should definitely think of starting a franchise (if you like to cook, that is). The last Super Suppers I went to was PACKED with people. The neat thing about the program is that you can box up the dinners in any way you like - some people split up the meals into different containers so it lasts twice as long for a smaller family. I have the meat loaf in the oven right now and Rhys keeps asking me what smells so good. :cool1:

Hope everyone had a great weekend ~
I actually found a place called Dream Dinners when I continued to search the internet. It is very similar to Super Suppers. Its about 15 miles from my house, so I thought I would try it. I signed up online and the first opening they have is next month. I signed up for a session October 12th so I'll let you know what I think of it. The only problem is the only sessions available are during the day so I have to go by myself. Everyone I know works during the day and I was able to schedule for my day off. I think it would be more fun to go with a friend.

Cathy you are very correct about today being hard. I was just flipping thru the channels a little bit ago and they were reshowing coverage when the 2nd plane hit the tower. It was hard seeing it live the first time and it's still hard today. One of my friend's had an FDNY friend that was killed during the rescues.
Be safe everyone.
We've been pretty much glued to the TV all day. Its so hard to watch and remember but I can't seem to pull myself away either.

Coooool ~ hope it goes well. I've been recommending Super Suppers to all my friends. SS is offered on Tues, Thursday evenings, Saturday afternoons, and they also now offer a pre-packaged service where, for an additional fee, they prep everything for you, box it up, and have it ready for you to just pick up. Pretty slick operation, imo. I really like knowing EXACTLY what it is in the meals that I'm giving to my family - right down to the spices. Most of the recipes are so simple...if only I had the time to do them all from scratch.

Better head off to bed now. I've been on call all weekend and always dread and anticipate those middle of the night calls...

Wow - it's been so quiet.... I popped by to see if my email notifications weren't working again.:bored:

We're off to Dallas tomorrow (driving) for my twin nieces' 4 year old birthday party. My little sister went a little overboard and invited 16 kids to their birthday party on Saturday. Rhys and Amina will be the oldest ones there. My mom called me 3 times to make sure we would be there to help. :confused3 When my sister asked me if I thought that was too many....I mentioned the BD party "rule" - ie age + 1. Of course, my sister said well then that means 10 for 4 yr old twins. LOL! Somehow I don't think it works that way....

Hope everyone has a great weekend ~

Eve when my kids were little I used to do the same as your sister! I would follow the age +1 for their friends then proceed to invite all of the family. If the kids were related they didn't get counted! We had some huge parties!
I'm sure it will be fun!

I wasn't good with planning parties so I would always have them at Chuckie Cheese, McDonald's, bowling, movies, etc. When they were little the parent's would be more apt to stay if it was in a public place and then the staff would handle the games, etc. I am a cheater on that front. When she got older it would be sleepovers but I don't have to do much other than supply food and goodies. We have a big great room where they can all sleep on a thick carpet with a big screen TV for movies.

We do have a family party too, my family and his. I have two sisters and a brother, their spouses and 3 nieces and a nephew. Steve has two brothers and one has 2 kids. Steve loves to cook so he does the menu, I clean and grocery shop and clean up afterwards usually.

Hi from Dallas. We just arrived and it's late but I'm online at my sister's house checking on a few things. We have sooooo much to do tomorrow morning still before the party starts at 11 am - balloons, party favors, games to put together, finishing touches on the cake, cooking for the brunch (yes, there's brunch for the adults in addition to the bd party for the kids :faint: ). Wish me luck....:shamrock:

Eve, sounds like you should have called Super Suppers for the brunch preparation. Good luck :shamrock:

Good luck Eve!

We went to see the musical "Hairspray" today at a matinee, it was very good (a Broadway tour in CT). Tonight we watched "Fever Pitch" the Red Sox fans edition with the special ending. It was very good to relive last year's amazing season with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore.

I better get to bed now though, it was been a long day.

Jenny, next weekend is my neice's wedding at the White Horse Inn. You mentioned before that we should go into Sequoia Nationa Park. Do you know about how far it is from the Inn to the park? We plan on driving about half way down friday night because we'll be getting a late start after work, then finishing the drive saturday morning. Wedding isn't until 4pm so I hope we have enough time to go into the park before the wedding. We can't check into the hotel until 3pm so then we'll have to hurry and get ready for the wedding. We have to be home sunday night for work/school monday morning so we'll have the whole drive so I think realistically saturday would be the day to see the sequoias.

I'm glad I checked my e-mail for notices. Jack is thinking it will take at least 45 minutes on a very windy road. I'll ask around tomorrow at work to see if anyone else has an idea of trip time. You may not have enough time depending on what time you get to the area. Do you have family plans for Sunday? We should be around as far as I know but now Brynee has started tutoring other students and I'm not sure if she has sessions scheduled. You may not want to plan around us and take your time with family etc. It takes about 3 1/2 hours from SF to Visalia...580 to 5 to 152 then south on 99. There are quite a few hotels on Hwy 198 in Visalia. Let me know if you need anymore info. I'll PM my cell # to you just in case you have time to stop in Visalia.

Eve - Hope the bd party went well. That sure was a lot of kids!

Cathy - I did the same as you until the girls were old enough for sleepovers. It made birthdays less stressful.

Page 3 bump. I just got back from visiting a college friend in New Hampshire, what a beautiful weekend. The leaves aren't turning much yet though. Now it is a work night again, yuck. Oh well. I am watching Desperate Housewives season opener, anyone else watch that?

Cathy

Birthday party went ok - about as crazy as I thought it would be. What really got me, though, was how rude some of those little princesses were. Yuck. The twins were just angels - I was very impressed with how well they did. They both got my little sister's temperament.

We had BIL/SIL with us over the weekend from Houston. It took them 23 hours to drive from Houston to Oklahoma. We went and picked them up and drove them back the last 3.5 hours to our house. Ugh - we got in at 3 am on Friday morning. What a mess. They just headed back down to Houston this morning and are hopefully home now.

We head to San Fran next week for a conference....Hope everyone is well....

We had a beautiful weekend for my neice's wedding, although didn't end up with time to get together with Jenny  We did make it into Sequoia National Park to see the giant sequoias though. Here are a couple of pictures:

Eve, I hope your sister's home is okay, I was thinking about them watching the hurricane coverage.
Today is Sara's 12th birthday, gotta go frost the cake!
Vickie

Vickie -
Happy Birthday to Sara! :bday:
It sounds like my BIL/SIL's home was undamaged in the storm. They got home in about 13 hours today....

Vickie, Great photos of the Sequoia's, it is good to see people I recognize too (LOL). Here's a photo from my New Hampshire weekend, Jessica and my friend's 3 daughters:

I'm so excited, I finally got my piece from the auction today! I love it just as much as I did when I first saw it!
Vickie

I just had to post again since I saw I was on #499, had to make it an even 500!
Have a great weekend everyone!
