August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Thanks vickie! This is getting more and more exciting. I was reading a thread about Post cruise withdrawal and how it is better if you have another one booked and I won't! DH did say he'd do another cruise line for a change especially if we sail out of NYC or Boston and not have to fly. I think he wants to go to the Cape next summer and relax more.

DD graduated from 8th grade this morning and I haven't seen her since! Is this how it is in high school? She went to two parties and will stop home to grab an overnight bag and then sleep over a friend's house so they can hang out on their first full day of summer. Then tomorrow night is the 1st 3 hour play rehearsal for one of her plays... I feel like I have an empty nest already!! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Oh, yes......been there, done that. Twice now. Two down, one to go. Funny, though....I still remember being on the run like that when I was young. Run in, change clothes, tell Mom "We're going to (wherever) now..."
As long as you know their friends, then it's just plain fun to sit back and watch them!

Thanks Vickie!

I second what Stacey says about how it's easier if you know Jessica's friends and their parents. Brynee's friends like to hang out here so I always make sure they are safe and secure but they are slowly acquiring their Driver's Licenses :earseek: ! In CA they aren't to drive with friends in the car for the first 6 months so that means they'll all be taking their cars to meet up in 1 place - Brynee takes her "behind the wheel" test next week :moped: - I am having mixed feelings about her beginning to drive by herself :confused3 !

Asking for prayers tonight and in the coming few days. The Cave Creek Complex fire is burning very near to our home, and we have friends who have already been evacuated (to our kids' middle school) and have most certainly lost their homes. Not sure if we'll still go out of town tomorrow or not. I'm waiting for Jay to get home from a town council meeting, so we can decide together. In the meantime, I have been packing cameras, photos, videos and jewelry.

I'll keep you posted. Please pray for our friends!

Stacey, Praying for you and your friends. :grouphug:

The news here has been constant...they say that the fire should go to the Northeast of us...but I can see more flames rising and they are on our side of the hill/mountain.
We will make our decision about going out of town in the morning, when we can get a better idea of how the fire is being handled.
12,000 acres so far. 500 homes evacuated.
I've packed as much as I can for now.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

The kids and I are still up. We can't seem to stop watching. It looks like it may be falling back over to the far side of the mountain, but then we'll see flare ups. This is the worst thing about living in the desert. It did rain over our house for about 5-10 minutes....I prayed that it holds its strength and keeps moving north. The firefighters need all the help they can get.

We went into Cave Creek earlier tonight, and I've never seen so many deputies, Firefighters, Forest Service, and National Guardsmen. Plus all the TV vans. Some of the Forest Service's top guys were at Dairy Queen and I heard them on their cell phones. One was calling for back up from Payson. That's quite a ways from here. That same fellow was on TV later tonight.

Hi guys....going to "copy & paste" to all my pals. Thank you so much for your prayers....you all are very good at it. As far as we can tell, the fire headed north with the wind from the little bit of rain we had. We have still been moving things to the basement at the shop this morning...so I haven't had a chance to sit. We are going to go ahead with our plans to leave town. We've done what we can do, and if the fire turns again, there's nothing we could do to stop it.
Jordan has been frantic, she's very afraid, so we are better off not being here to watch it anyway.
It seems to us that your prayers have worked, though...and I think our house will be fine. We haven't had any word from anyone whose homes were burned....not surprising....horrible times.
Thank you too for the birthday wishes for Jared. The first thing he said was "What's a TOP?" My first laugh of the day! So I don't think he wants to trade his present...only one...mean Mom...but it's a good one...PSP something or another that he wanted.
Gotta run....will have the laptop so that we can stay in touch with all.
Stacey

Stacey I am just reading your posts now but my prayers are with you. I saw a fire in Southern, CA on the news and I was worried for all of those people so I think you were covered in that. Poor Jordan, I know how Jess would be. At that age (and even now) I felt like everything would be fine and parents know what to do to fix anything. Have a good weekend and try not to worry too much.

Jenny, I am already nervous about the driving starting in 3 years. My nephew flipped his car in the first 2 weeks but he and his friend were fine (car was totaled). I think they have changed the rules recently about not driving with friends in the car and other curfews.

Stacey even tho you have already left, I'm thinking of you and your friends. I just now found out about the fires since I haven't been on here since last night.

I'm so proud of myself! I just figured out how to insert a picture! So I thought I would share a family photo taken at my neice's wedding several months ago.

Vickie, thanks for the pic, nice looking family, and you are very clever. I still haven't figured that out. Maybe I will make that my mission next week.

Vickie - What a great pic and great smiles! Was Kenney in the wedding? - looks like he is wearing a tux! Brynee still hasn't figured out how to post a pic... I think she got sidetracked. Is it very hard to do??

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Brynee is in 3 dance shows through tomorrow as well as musical rehearsals. She is having a busy week! She is saying she won't dance at a studio next year, only at school. I hope so cuz she always wants to do too much :earseek: !

Yes Kenney was in the wedding. I read instructions on the picture of the day thread. I downloaded to photobucket and followed the instructions there.

Thanks Vickie! I had directed Brynée to Photobucket but that was as far as she got! I guess I may have to try.

Great photo Vickie! I don't know how to do that yet either.

Jenny, Speaking of kids doing too much, Jessica decided to quit the 2nd play in our town last night that she was going to do (Joseph) but we will still go to it and bring flowers to her friends. She is still going to the theater day camp for lessons and to do "Once Upon a Mattress". She was feeling overwhelmed with camp 9 to 4pm and then the other play 6 to 9pm weekdays. She has to read three books and write a paper this summer for her honors courses next year (not even summer school just pre-homework).

We went out to dinner tonight with a group of friends, one couple visiting from Georgia for a niece's graduation. They are going on a cruise from Port Canaveral on the Glory on July 16th. Two of the couples including them are planning a cruise for next July out of NYC on the new Princess ship (will have to do some research). We may plan to go too and I won't have as much withdrawal. I can always book Disney for two years from now. How exciting! :Pinkbounc
