August 5th 2012, Magic- NY to Canada

I created a Google document for the FE Exchange:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnrsWMNbjFS0dGs4SEM1NU9yN1RkbFhPVzdXeW5icXc

I gave those with the link permission to edit the spreadsheet so perhaps folks can enter their information in the spreadsheet? That will eliminate me making mistakes transcribing information from posts. If you can't access the spreadsheet, I can try to get everyone in there but I travel a great deal for work and I don't always have time to look at DisBoards very regularly.

Kind regards,
Lynda

I just added our info in so that we can participate! Now I just wish that DCL would publish excursions. :goodvibes

I also just added our info for the FE. I've not looked at the boards since I booked this cruise back in May - I guess now that we are in 2012 the excitement is growing and I'm ready to start counting the days! We took our first Disney cruise last April on the Dream and loved it! I am really looking forward to this cruise!

I don't know what is holding up the excursions- there really are only a few ports
and we probably will not have time to do more than one in each place.

Started on my FE. If I read the list right so far there are 13 cabins and 13 children so far. Is there a cut off date?

Does anyone use/have a pattern to make FE's? Any help would be appreciated.

I have recently discovered that there are several people on our cruise that are into Scrapbooking. :cool1: We've been chatting back and forth on the FB page about getting together on one of our days at sea to make a project. I'm willing to put some kits together for Mickey tags, a photo frame or a 12x12 page border if people are interested. I have tried and tried but I just can not figure out how to post photos on this thread. So if you would like to see the selection you will need to check out our FB page and let me know if you are interested. :thumbsup2

I just sent a request for the FB group.
The request is from Lynda Olszowy Thomas.

There is a woman on Ebay who makes and sells FE. They are really great especially if you are like me and can't sew. Her name on Ebay is Gradysmommy. If you type in fish extenders on the top it should come up.She is great to work with and will personalize it for you. She also has other Disney items. If you have any problems locating her please let me know. I have ordered several items from her and never had a problem. Right now she is putting on special Micley and Minnie 's on shirsts for us for the Hawaiian cruise.

Is also a disboarder. I'll try to remember her name here. She is Fabulous. I purchased tote bags from her to get signed at the desk. Forgive the plug, but she is so wonderful that I can't not recommend her.

Hi! I'm thinking a 3-week prior to cruise cut-off for the FE gift exchange. Does that seem reasonable to everyone?

I think that three weeks before the cruise as a cut off date is a little late. Most people like to make those items ahead of time and have them all set to go way before that. Many people have to order things and that takes time.I know so far there are not too many cabins involved but that could change.Has any decisions been made regarding if we are doing every cabin or dividing up into groups.

Usually the paid is full date is a good cut off because those they were on the fence about coming had to make a decision.

I suggested 3 weeks out because on our last cruise, we used 4 weeks out and there were some late-comers that really wanted to participate and were told they had to start their own FE exchange because it had 'closed'. I also order things for the FE gifts but I always order extra and thankfully had enough to give these late-comers FE gifts even though they weren't on the official list. I hate to see folks left out of the fun and excitement.

Quantity: I suggest leaving the quantity up to each individual. Some people give to each person in a stateroom and others give gifts that are more appropriate for one/stateroom....I've done both actually and it seems to work not restricting it. If there are folks that have 2 different families in the same stateroom, please add that to the comments section and folks giving one/stateroom can make it 2 for that stateroom if they choose.

Distribution: The last cruise, we had a sign-up for folks for distribution days so that there were gifts for each day. I hadn't done this in previous FE gift exchanges but it worked okay. If we want to do that, I will set that up after we close the list. Frankly, it has always worked out fine without a distribution day assignment.

Those are just my thoughts based on my experiences doing the FE gift exchange....

They must be getting close to loading the port adventures...Saint John now appears on the port adventure list, but no excursions are loaded yet....I would bet they don't load them til after the excitement over the new itineraries has subsided....

I agree that we don't really need a delivery date- people could deliver them when it is convenient for them. The only reason I suggested am earlier cut off date is for the ones that make their gifts and need to plan their materials.
I'm sure what ever is decided will be fine. We had over 100 cabins on one cruise and it was a lot of work but a lot of fun.

Shore excursions are posted on the DCL site!
