The fish extender started years ago on the Magic I think. Outside your door is a metal plaque of a fish. What has evolved over the years is a gift exchange. People sign up to participate and they hang some type of bag from the metal fish.People that are partcipating sometime during the cruise leave a little surprise in the fish extender. it is usually a home made craft item or an inexpensive item such as pencils, candy, items from Oriental trader etc. Each cruise sets up their own rules. If there is a lot of cabins involved the people are usually divided into groups of 25. Sometimes it is one gift percabin and if there are children in the cabin , according to their age, a little something is left for them too.
I have participated in one where we had a 100 cabins and they decided to do every cabin. It was a lot of fun but a lot of work.
If you go on Ebay and type in Fish Extender you can see some of them there. you can also design your own or just hang a regular bag.
I am doing this and something else for another cruise so i can't do it for this one.
Hope someone will organize it. It is really a lot of fun.
