August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Any quick tips to do disney with kids? DD's 5 and 7.

I cannot stress this enough - go early in the day.

So many places that have been perfectly pleasant in the morning have been a nightmare by early afternoon.

Read the Unofficial Guide and follow the tips. Have fun!! :thumbsup2

Exactly what DH said. Read the Unofficial Guide, go early, and don't hesitate to go back to the hotel in the afternoon to cool off at the pool or take a nap. It will make the evening so much nicer for the kids and for you. your 7yo may say I'm too old for a nap, so a nice visit to the pool and quiet time is good for all. Have a great time and do Dumbo 1st:yay:

Bill could have a sex change. The big red system was supposed to become Hurricane Bill, but the other two systems spinning in the Atlantic are not developing. Looks like Bill will become Ana. Poor Monica.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

At our most recent and one of the most enjoyable trips to WDW we were staying at a resort off premises so we stopped and bought smuckers uncrustables threw them in a cooler with drinks and a snack of some sort. The sandwiches were ready to eat by lunch and by not buying drinks and snacks in the park all day we felt we had enough money to really splurge on dinner, and that we did. We ate at the nicest restaurants every night and had a great time!

To those of you planning on trying to get to St. John on your own, the ferry service between downtown (near where the ship docks) and St. John is being cut in half. Red Hook service for now remains the same every hour on the hour. There no longer a convienent return ferry from St John to Charlotte Amalie that is cruise passengery friendly, So, plan on using the Red Hook service exclusively. Here is a link to the article

The best day we had at Magic Kingdom was when I took the kids back to the pool at about 2pm. My DW stayed and road Space Mountain about 6 times in a row (Single Rider, you know), and the girls and I spend a couple of hours swimming.

DW staked out a place to sit on Mainstreet for the Electrical Parade, and I brought the kids back about 5:30pm. We sat on the curb, had some dinner, and the girls made it through the parade and Wishes with no problems. :thumbsup2

Too bad that Space Mountain will be closed until November for renovations. I would have loved to ride it again.

Two of my children are staying with DMIL in a connecting cabin. When printing the forms their names are listed in my reservation but there isn't a line for me to sign for them.

I went onto the other reservation and I can type my name as being responsible for them but the cc info has my DMIL.

I printed out both just in case. But my question is whether or not signing for my room's payment authorization is enough or do I sign the others papers too:confused3

Have to start my laundry and pack this weekend. Leaving Tuesday!! :cool1:

Can't wait and yet am stressing out about all I need to do and finish at work before then.

Normally, I insist on a clean house before I go so that I come back to a clean house. I'm usually running the vacuum cleaner as I'm backing out the door. LOL.

But I'm just letting it go this time. If I get to it, I get to it. If not, I'm under enough stress, I'm not going to add to it. At least that is what I'm telling myself now... :rolleyes1

Code Red in the Atlantic.

Be glad we're sailing on the 29th. This tropical wave is a wide low pressure system. It is slowly organizing and growing, the NHC believes the system will go tropical in the next 48 hours.

I'll check the global maps tonight and report back.

TVEPFOX your are crazy.....:rotfl2::laughing:

I hear you about packing, we leave in 8 days and I have PILES of laundry to get through before then. I picked up our passports today from our safe deposit box and got tons of small bills for tipping various people, and a roll of quarters to do laundry at HRH if I need to before boarding. Luckily for me my housekeeper is coming on Monday, so the house should be relatively clean and in order for our departure from here on Friday (remember my brother is getting married Fri night, we're staying at the reception hotel Fri, then heading to the airport on Sat). Now that I just typed that I realize I only have 7 days left to pack!!! YIKES!!!!!

A customer and I were talking about cleaning yesterday, she was saying she should be home dusting, but was out window shopping. She said, her grandma always said dust will always be there, but it won't be what you are remembered for so go and enjoy your day. I think I may have to clean our house because we may have friends staying at our place while we are gone. Normally I would just run the dishwasher and go.:cool1:

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before so I apologize, but passports are not needed on our cruise, correct? We will probably still bring ours, but just wondering.

I believe they are not needed on closed loop Caribbean cruises, which ours is. I just feel safer with them. I have them so might as well as use them....... I find them easier to travel with then our birth certificates.

That was exactly my thought as well, thanks for answering my question :goodvibes

Better safe then sorry. If we get stranded on an island (NOT going to happen), can't fly home without them.

Even if you leave them home, make sure to take them out of the safe deposit box so that a friend or relative can express mail them you in case of an emergency. But if you have them, why not just take them.

I don't know if it's required yet - they've been saying it is for many many months, but it keeps being extended - you'd have to check the DCL cruise line to find out for sure.

But would I and am I bringing them - even for the 3 year old? Absolutely. :thumbsup2

You think you got problems??

I still have dirty laundry from the last cruise!

Our safe deposit box is a shoe box in the bottom of my closet!

By the time this cruise gets here I'll be printing money!

I fired my housekeeper, to raise money for my bar bill!

Our departure is HURRY up zip that suitcase and get your butts in the car before me miss our flight!
