August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Great news everyone!!! CIGY7 just ordered another 200 bracelets and they're all free!!

He's going to need them when I push him overboard!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::boat::boat:

Yes TVEPFOX is correct !!! The arrangements are not to hard for pick up . The people who ordered through me early can pick up their bracelets on deck 9 3pm.

The free bracelets can be picked up between the hours of 2 am - 6 am directly from TVEPFOX's STATEROOM. If no one answers just keep knocking she might not here you over NOAA's National Weather Service radio station. :rotfl::rotfl:

3 is our lucky number. Don't care about the two yellow areas, no affect on us. Besides, I really don't look good in yellow. Now red is another story, Topical Depression Two. Looks like this puppy is going to swing north. Good dog!

How long does it generally take - I know it can vary - for a disturbance off the coast of Africa to affect the Eastern Caribbean and/or Florida? In other words, is there a point that last week that if we don't already see something coming, we can relax, or not? Thanks for the updates.

Julie,

You're right. It can vary from storm to storm. When a wave comes off Africa it could live for a week or more in the tropical category or die off. A hurricane can travel for days, wobble and change track at any time, Hurricane Jeanne was an excellent example, she made a "P" over Antigua and St. Thomas. A tropical depression can turn into a hurricane overnight.

I would keep a weathered eye to the horizon starting around the 19th. That gives a system more than a week to develop/travel once it's off the coast. Plus take into account the week we're on the ship. Once we're in open water we only have so many options. If the Eastern is "clear", odds are he'll go that way. Of course, subject to change. If a storm was to hit an area before we get there, damage assessment is another obstacle. Remember we have to get back into port too or DCL faces stiff fines in the range of 10k per hour.

Great info, thanks for doing this. Since I will be in FL starting the 20th, I am not going to worry myself until then :) I am a little worried about DH getting down on the 27. Now I am really glad he is coming days early, I hadn't factored in a storm before we leave, I was just thinking about being out on water in it.

Good Attitude!

I'm not worrying until we get a lot closer too!

Thanks for all that input - fingers crossed that this turns out to just be a way to pass the time before our clear and spectacular cruise!:goodvibes

As of the 11:00 update, our little redhead is picking up speed. Winds now 30 miles per hour. Hurricane is 74.

This is my first cruise on DCL. I want to visit Meaghan's Bay but can't seem to afford this excursion for my whole family. I saw someone write that you could go on your own. I'm scared that if I get there I will not be able to get a taxi back. Can someone give me some advise. thank you
