I just booked this cruise yesterday. It will be my boyfriend Matt,29 and me Rachel 35. This will be his first cruise and my third Disney cruise. I met some great people on the forum last time, so thought would check in and see what's going on. We had to book kind of late because Matt is in the Army and were waiting on his leave dates to be finalised.
He grew up in the Orlando area and I dragged him back to Disney World a few months ago kicking and screaming and now he has the fever (good thing too, that would have been a deal breaker) and the cruise didn't take too much groveling on my part. It will just be the two of us, no kids aside from 2 dogs and a cat that rules the house--and they have to stay home.

Nice to have you join us! We got a nice discount too, my husband works for the airlines, and Disney is quite nice with their discounts for us too! My stepson(27) and dil(24)are traveling with us, they have no kids yet, but she is pregnant their first.

We would like to join the FE list pretty please--green is my favorite color so ok with all that. Matt and I are both big kids and he will think it's really neat I think. Don't have a preference on delivery time, as long as not while we are in port and can work around the various oppurtunities to sample beverages (tequila tasting, martini, etc). Sorry so late in the game,

I am going to repost the list today because we have new people joining, if no one else joins, we decided that I would post the final list on Aug 9th, since some people are leaving early and want a little time to get stuff together before their cruise, so look for the final list then. The next post will have an updated list

It looks like there are 29 cabins participating 52 adults and 56 kids. We have a nice diverse group, moms, dads, grandparents, kids of all ages and even a 3mos old little guy! We also have several birthdays that I know of including a couple of special ones, 2 sweet 16 girls and a 40th bday!

If you still would like to join, it would be with the understanding that not everyone will deliver to your room. People need time to order/make things and may not have enough for the people that join late. There will still be some that will, but we cannot guarantee that everyone would. We don't want to deny anyone the Disney experience of the FE, so if you are ok with those terms, we would be glad to see your family still join. People joining after 6/21 will have their names listed in green, to distinguish them from people who joined earlier. Should anyone else join from now until then, I will update and post a new list. The absolutely final list will be posted on Aug 9th.

At this point, everyone below has responded that they will be on our cruise and participating.If you should get a surprise upgrade, or decide to upgrade at port or for any other change in rooms after some of us have left, put a note on my cabin 7022 and I will give out notes when I make the first delivery

Just wanted to share my excitement! I just booked an AB on Pearl for August 29th next year for Alaska!!!! So it's 2 cruises next year, NCL and RCCL Oasis! Hopefully, we'll get into BLT for spring break to make it an awesome year!!!!!!

I have a question about charging privileges for kids. For those of you who give charging privileges to your kids do you set a daily limit or maybe a total cruise limit?
Do you have any rules or expectations for your kids that you might be willing to share?

I'm giving my DD charging privileges for the first time also. I've told her that she gets $15 a day or 105 for the whole cruise. I'll be checking it by going to guest services and IF she absuses the privilege, I'll take it away. I figure that should give her enough to get a few smoothies, buy an arcade card, etc.

Also, has anyone out there brought the walkie-talkies with them? On our last cruise she was 7, and we saw a lot of older kids with them. She's begging for free reign, i.e. just to run up to the pool or sports deck. I know it's a ship and she can only go just so far away, but still, I am leery. Am I being a big, unreasonable chicken? At what age have you let/will you let your kids a little running room?

Lastly, what is freestyle cruising? I never heard of it. Is that what we have?

My DD is 11 and will be in OQ, which only has sign in/out, so she can come and go as she pleases. I figure that her and her new friends will want to explore the ship and might want to get a little something sometimes.

I have given DD the ability to charge on previous cruises and she really never used it except in the Mediterranian. She took her own cash and used it at the stores but when we were on the Med cruise she charged very little and she was 14 at the time. This year I have given her her own CC that will be loaded for her to use for shopping. The money loaded will come out of her babysitting money and so it is all hers so if she blows it its gone. But she is very responsible and therefore she will likely not spend a lot. She is a Milk girl and drinks little to no soda and very seldom milkshakes/smoothies. So that leaves her to spend her money on extras that she has to have or be with mom and dad to get those.

We also brought the walkie talkies on past cruises and will be brining them as well on this one so the girls won't be using their phones (extra charges). The walkie talkies worked fine in the past and sometimes you picked up other frequencies but we just changed the channels.

My DD just turned 13 and in the past has not had charging priveliges, she was 9 and 11 on our last cruises
I was also planning on bringing Walkie-Talkies but I thought I read somewhere they don’t work very well on the ship

I like the idea of keeping an eye on what she is charging by stopping by guest services that will avoid being shocked at the end of the cruise

We used the walkie Talkies last time and they worked great. Having a toddler who napped, they really helped me and DH know where we both were (we didn't give them to the kids). DD 10 is in the lab and she can not check herself out (I prefer to know where she is). Ours did break though, and I don't think our new ones are strong enough, so we need to get new ones.
