August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Any suggestions gang?

I understand DCL transportation is really convenient, and the cost isn't bad if you're a party of 1 or 2. But if you're a group of 3 or more, it can get pricey in a hurry.

Probably the most economical choice (at least for a group of 3 or more) is to rent a car/van and drive yourself. Last I heard Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and Thrifty all have locations near the port and provide shuttle service.

If you prefer to have someone else do the driving, you can go with a car service. All kinds of choices there, ie: SUV, town car, van, mini-bus, limo, etc. How cost effective this is depends on what type of vehicle you choose, and how many in your group.

Once you narrow things down and have more specific questions I'm sure we can provide more feedback. :thumbsup2

Welcome to our group. If you can give me the names of the people in the cabin, I will add you to the list. If you find it is a different cabin # let me know.

Me- Monique
DH - Tim
DD7 - Elizabeth

Thanks for organizing. We are pretty sure that 6550 is the correct cabin number.

When I first started reading this thread there were a few families from Washington and I see that most of them have cancelled. Well we won't be cancelling this trip. Looking forward to our first Disney Cruise.

I'm sorry for the late notice and the lack of a stateroom number but I couldnt decide whether to join the FEs or not until just now -- I am cleaning out my office and found a bunch of things we recieved the last time and got all misty and realized, YES! I really want to join the FE list!

Stateroom # still pending (sorry! It's a Cat 7 and I was told it could feasibly be as late as 30 days prior before we get an assignment. Lets hope she was wrong!))
Me: Cayley
DH: Paul
DS: Cameron (5)

Also, I know that at age 5, the kids might not be as interested in a pen pal/email exchange but if anyone else is interested I'd like to give it a shot. :)

Just wondering….if any of you are planning on dressing up for Pirate night? If so what are you wearing :confused3?
On my last cruise I saw some families go all out and they looked soooo cute :thumbsup2

In the past my daughter has worn a pirate dress costume but she doesn’t want to do a costume this time and instead she wants to just accessorize (yup that’s the word she used) with some pirate stuff pirate:.

I am planning on making some pirate tshirts for the night if I get the time. I planned this last time too, but ran out of time. Two of my boys bdays are the next 2 weeks, with parties and all, I wont get to them until the end of July. If not, we bought them some pirate shirts in Cozumel last year that they wore, along with their bandanas and we brought eye patches for them. We don't go all out, my dh not a costume person, but do enjoy seeing others who do!

My daughter, middle son, and I dressed up last time. My oldest son just wanted to wear a POTC tshirt. I'm sure my daughter will want to dress up again, but my boys will probably both wear tshirts.

I picked up a couple of pirate bandanas at JoAnn's the other day, if anyone is looking for some. They also had lots of piratey iron ons.

We are all wearing costumes. DH is very into costumes (and Halloween). Plus we got a great picture of us all dressed up last time and want to do it again. This time I got full costumes after Halloween on clearance. Still need to get one for my youngest though.

We will be on this cruise as well with our DD13 andDS 10.
Does anyone know what the weather(hurricane season) is doing during our cruise dates?

I'm the resident hurricane "watcher". The Atlantic Hurricane season runs from June to November, it's six months out of the year.

The peak is usually mid September. I track the storms and follow the updates from the National Hurricane Center before, during and after the cruise.

We always cruise in September, prime hurricane time. We changed to August this year because of DD school schedule.

We've hit storms before we left, while on the ship, and on the way home. DCL does a good job with everything. We've never had a major complaint.

Keep your fingers crossed we'll be in the clear. The bonus of going eastern is if there's a storm out there, we move western.

I think it should be cheaper than DCL bus service with 6 of us. IF you DD is interested in exchanging information with mine, I'm sure we can work something out. We were thinking we would go back to DW after the cruise for a couple of hours before our flight, don't know what your plans are. But we are flexible.

Mojo, did you get my pm?

Got your PM today. Unfortunately I can't PM yet, still only have 6 posts. DH wants to know what you got for your $ last time. Was it DW transfer from hotel to port and port to airport? I've been checking prices for private cars and car rentals. Anyone have any suggestions? Yes DD will be doing the kids club. We should hook up the week before. We will be at Pop Aug 24-29.

DH loves to watch the weather reports, especially hurricanes and tornados. We live in Seattle and don't get such great weather :)

We always use the DCL shuttle from a hotel to port. We used to stay at Pop, but the bus doesn't pick up there, hence the bribes. Then we moved to POR, now WL.

I posted a thread on the main board, happy limo has great rates and good reviews! We need car service from Pop to Wilderness Lodge to Port. There's only one tiny problem... I bring a ton of luggage! We fly SWA they allow 6 bags, that's what I bring for 2 weeks.

My family can take DCL bus back to the airport after the cruise. We can't go back to WDW.

Yes, we totally should hook up! We need to talk.

O'kay I'm soooooo lazy! :rolleyes1

Has anyone actually counted the participants for the FE's? I keep loosing track after trying to count 3+ times. :headache:

I counted about 25 families or cabins? At approximately 4 passengers, that's about 100 people?

So, I will either round up to 30 cabins if I decide on doing it per cabin or to 110-120 people if I decide to do something for each person?

I haven't ordered anything yet - just want to get an idea of the current numbers while I look for ideas.

Do I have my numbers right?

I am trying to see what time i should book flight back and the closest airport is mco right?n thanks guys
I was able to get my 11yr old son on so I on board with u guys for sure

DCL recommends not booking a flight for BEFORE noon on day of departure. My flight is booked for exactly noon. WE're driving ourselves back, we've rented a car to get back to MCO, should be enough time.

I'll make your life easier. There are 99 people right now participating in the FE, so your guestimate was pretty close. 26 cabins, 47 adults 52 kids. It is still open for people to join until Sunday, then I will post the list of full participants. After Sunday any one that joins will only get deliveries from people who have bought or made extras.
