August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Hey all... I've made a post WAY back when the thread was getting started but then never made it back...so now I'm needing to play catch up on everything that's been going on. Since it's been soooo long since i've posted I'll go ahead and just start over... We book this cruise when we were on our last Disney cruise.... it's myself, DH, DD (11 at cruise time) and DD (16 at cruise time)....it'll be our 4th Disney cruise...and we're soooo looking forward to it.

DH and I just got home from a cruise on another line...and I have to say it did not compair to DCL at all.

Anywho...now it's time to read back some to see what I've missed.

Glad that you are joining us. As you can see things are pretty slow on the chat right now. Hopefully the closer we get to the cruise, things will pick up. This way the more seasoned DCL veterans will help those of us who have never been on a seven nighter:thumbsup2

I'm putting some of my planning on hold to pay off my Christmas debt:) Then it will be full steam ahead with plane tickets, car rentals and DW planning before the cruise.

Joe

Ditto.

I spent waaaaay more money this Christmas than I should have. Good thing that DH and I are still doing well at our jobs so far. But still in this economy we should start cutting back.

We got a Roomba!!! :cheer2: I'm so excited to try it out! But I have to clear off some clutter on the floor first. :rotfl: It should be charged tonight when we get home!

Well, we have officially postponed this cruise. We came up with a fun convoluted plan instead.

We decided we really want to do a 14 day Med cruise in summer 2010 and take RCCL. But, we want to be returning cruisers on that trip, so we booked a 7 day out of LA for this April. This way we can book the Med on board and get the booking benefits for that trip. We were planning to go to LA for Spring Break anyway and just decided to add a cruise. I have family there that we are planning on visiting. We have not canceled the Disney, just pushed it back. We would like to try one of the new ships so hopefully we can book something for 2011. I will miss the Caribbean.:sad1:

Thanks for being a friendly group and I hope you have tons of fun on your cruise.

Sorry to hear about your change in vacation plans but a 14 day Med Cruise sounds great:thumbsup2

Drop in on us after the April cruise and let us know how it went. By that time we should be preparing for our excursions or palo ressies that we will make in May.

Joe

Thanks Joe. I will definitely check back in with you after April's trip.

Another fun thing...We will still be on a cruise at the same time you are on the Magic. On Saturday we also booked a HAL Alaska cruise. Leaving on Aug 29 too. This leaves out of Vancouver BC, so we don't have airfare to deal with. They were offering a 3rd/4th passenger rate of $99 and we couldn't pass it up. We are paying $2300 for a 7 night inside cabin for the 4 of us.:thumbsup2

Hello,

We're booked on this cruise too. I actually booked this in August but didn't begin thinking/planning this until this weekend. I have been reading all sorts of post/tips/things I need to know and am getting sooo excited!! This is our first ever cruise. We have been to WDW only one time last year and I addicted to Disney. Several folks that I work with have been on the Disney Cruise and highly recommended it so here we are counting down to our first ever cruise!! This is who will be in our group:

DH - 36 (at time of cruise)
Me - 34 (will turn 35 on August 30th)
DS - 13
DS - 11 (at time of cruise)
DD - 6

My nephew will also be going with us and he is also 6. Looking forward to reading more on this thread!

We got off the Magic NYE cruise this past Saturday, and booked this cruise while onboard.

From NYC (Manhattan), we are

Julie (bellelinus)
DD17 (at time of cruise -- wow that looks old!)
DD14
DD12

Fingers crossed for beautiful days and no hurricanes!:goodvibes

Welcome all new comers, we are excited that you have joined us. If you have any questions or have advice to share, please do so:thumbsup2

Excellent! This will be our 7th DCl cruise, and we have three more booked in 2010, so I think you have an idea of how much I love that ship and everyone on it:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We have done St. Thomas and St. Maarten before, so I have some ideas about things people might like to do on their own, if anyone ever has any questions. I almost always do our own excursions rather than DCL because I like being in charge;) and it's easy at both of those stops.

Welcome everyone! JMChone, my daughter will be 5.5yo when we sail, so I bet she'll see your daughter in the club.

I would love some tips of things to do. We will have 4 kids ranging from 6-13. I'm finding what the younger ones might enjoy may not be exciting for the older ones. We just may need to split up for a bit or so. My husband take the older ones snorkeling etc.. and I go with the younger ones. I was just really hoping to find things that we could all do.

Thanks!

Sorry, new to this. Wasn't sure how to add two quotes to one reply. My daughter is so excited about the clubs!!! She's really the one that has been begging us to go. My 13 yo is still a bit unsure if he's going to have a good time. We requested information and they sent the CD along with it. Every since she's seen it that's all she's talked about. They really do look like they are having a BLAST!!

Well, that part I am less familiar with, since with my group we all like snorkeling and water sports . . . both St. Thomas and St. Martin are great for beaches and shopping, but I will do a little research and think about what you might want to do with everyone.

Hello All!

This will be our 6th or 7th Disney cruise. I can't remember! We did the Wonder first for four days, that was not enough and moved to the Magic for seven day trips. We spend a week at WDW before the cruise, then hop on the Mickey boat.

I have a 7 year daughter who loves cruising, but not as much as Mommy and Daddy. DH and I have cruised for years. We've done Carnival, Royal and now Disney. Every year we say we're going back to RCCL because of DCL's stupid prices, but keep going to see the mouse on the high seas. We always do the Caribbean and special Caribbean cruises. I'm a firm believer cruise ships belong in the Caribbean not Europe.

Who am I... the gal who loves to sit in the sun, drink like a fish and shop for blue diamonds! DH and I put the kid in the club every night and party hard for a week. I look at it this way, I don't have to drive the boat, so I drink! We love Palo, know a lot about the ship, are friends with many CM and love the adult beach on CC. I like to host private parties in Palo and invite my cruise friends.

I will be your best friend as we get closer to the cruise... I'm the Weather Girl who works in television. I track hurricanes (bad word), tropical storms, etc. I supply maps, updates that people can understand and answer questions the best I can. My last cruise mates loved my updates on land and at sea.

We'll get to know each other better between now and August.

OBTW... I love my BlackBerry!

My daughter loves the club! She's one of those kids who has to be pulled out at the end of the night. So I bet your daughter will love it, particularly since she's already excited about going.
