August 26, 2013 - Mickey Mouse, Midnight Sun & Whales!

Our 9th anniversary is the 21st - so we'll be celebrating onboard as well!

Thank you everyone for the welcome! I signed up on the FE doc (hopefully it worked) and joined the Facebook group. I can't wait to get started! This is going to be so much fun!

I'm considering taking the train from Seattle to Vancouver. Has anyone does this before?

Thanks again!

Your info did show up on the google doc. Great to have you participating in the FE exchange!

Ok fellow DISers....

I am freaking out right now (best word I could think of!) and need some comfort from people who can maybe relate to this......

Just got out of the emerg. Looks like I need surgery :sad1:
I have had pain for quite a while, but it was over the top last night. They are going to remove my gallbladder.

My surgery is next Friday and although I am thankful this didn't happen while on the cruise ( can you imagine!!!) it still makes me nervous about travelling in Aug. Maybe I'm over thinking this.... 3 months is enough time to be back to myself right?
Anyone had this surgery? I know it's quite common. And not too invasive. But it's still time off work ( I work in a Special Ed class so it's absolutely the worse time to be off as we have reports and testing all this month) .
Would love to hear any experiences with surgery this close to a vacation.
:scared:

I know I have seen threads on the DIS re: this exact surgery before cruising. I am a surgery prep RN and get people ready for this type of surgery daily. If your gallbladder is removed laparoscopically (via 3-4 small incisions) you can frequently go home same day. Often people are back to work in 1 to 2 weeks, sometimes less, although you may have heavy lifting restrictions. You should be doing just fine by the time of the cruise. If you have questions you can PM me. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks. That's good to know.:thumbsup2

No need to freak out! It's not a big deal, really. Easy as far as surgeries go! I had mine out just after I had my daughter via c-section (4 months later) and even so, it was an easy recovery.

I think you'll feel back to yourself after about a week! No major situps, probably, but you will feel pretty ok by then. You will be TOTALLY fine by the cruise. Good luck!

I am sure I'll be fine. I know the surgery is not a big one....just freaked out a bit when I got home. We have had a lot of medical challenges, with complications over the last few years... It was just over whelming to hear on Friday. Especially since we have been planning for a year and a half.
Thank you for your comments. :goodvibes

On a brighter note... Tonight is booking night for platinum and gold!!!
Looking forward to getting that done!
I will post what palo brunch and dinner bookings are left for silvers and first timers!

Wow....
There must not be very many platinum members sailing on our cruise...
All Palo brunch and dinner times were all open!

We did :cool1::cool1:

but, It isn't even enough to pay for a meal at Palo's :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::confused3

Every little bit helps!!

Anyone else?

I got about $19 credit back to my Disney Visa.

DCL will credit back small amounts if there is a decrease in the taxes/fees that were added to your base cruise cost. I think I have received a small credit 3 times on previous cruises.

son3disfan,
Thinking of you, and hope you are feeling good:flower3:

Thanks Donna. :)
I am home recovering. :crazy2:
Spending time on these board helps to pass the time.

Can't wait for this cruise!
Good luck to silvers with your bookings! 8 more days for you....

son3disfan - hope your surgery went well and you are home recovering :)

We got a refund too, probably due to lessened port fees or something like that.

Glad to hear lots of Palo times still open!! YAY
