My son is 13, and he would be thrilled to get to know your son before the cruise! Send me a PM and we'll get them together! My son also didn't really enjoy the clubs on our last cruise, for the same reason as yours. It would be great for them to chat before hand! It's funny that your MIL is joining you, because, mine is too, but she is coming on the ship :teeth:

By the way - I just noticed where you live - my sister-in-law and her family live in Orefield, PA!!

I am a dabbler on this list and I finally got around to looking for a group for me. We are cruising on the Magic on 8/26. We rebooked after we missed 2 ports of call in January 2005. We are a family of 4, Me, DH, and our 2 sons, Alex, 16 and Nicholas, 12.
Nick and I will be staying at AKL for a few days before the cruise. DH and Alex can't get off of work. Taking MIL with us, just for the Disney portion of the trip. Shipping her back home before we ship out.
Back in Jan 2005, Alex had made some friends pre-cruise, so he had a great time. Nick, on the other hand, wasn't thrilled with the kids clubs since he didn't have a buddy before hand. Hopefully somebody willl have a boy (or even a girl) in the 10-13 age range.
Counting Down the Days

We are on this cruise as well. My son is 11. My daughter is going to be close to 9 on the cruise.

What grade is your 12 year old going to be in? 6th or 7th? I know he'd love to get some emails going if possible before hand. This is our first cruise, but I think Josh (my son) would like to have a buddy beforehand as well.

Send me a PM and we can get the ball rolling.

Newbie Cruiser! Ya-hoo!! Looking forward to an awesome time. Cassandra, 16 and Harrison, 12, are interested in chatting with other shipmates their age.

Never

I have 2 boys, Alex, who is 16 and Nicholas, who will be 12. I will PM you my email address and we can get things started.

Am I the only one who is anxiously waiting for Southwest fares to come out so the planning can begin?

Hi! This is my first post on the Disboards. The 8/26 Magic will be our first family cruise! I(DH) will be crusing with DW, and DS 14, and DD 11. W'ere from New City, NY, in Rockland County, and can hardly wait. The kids are into computers, top 40, and swimming, of course! Would like to hear from other cruisers, and friends for DS and DD.

Hi DisDad+3!! Welcome to the Disboards and welcome to the cruise thread :goodvibes.

We're from NY too (Long Island). My DS13 (will be 14 in October) will be in the teen club for the first time, and it would be great if your DS14 would like to IM with him or e-mail with him prior to the cruise. If you want to PM me, we can have the boys exchange info so they can chat. My DS is also into computers (especially VMK) and loves to swim too. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Welcome DisDad+3!

Fellow Cruisers - I have a DS14 (he'll turn 15 in June) and a DD12. They would love to IM or e-mail with other kids on this cruise. If anyone is interested in this, please PM me and I'll give you their e-mail addresses/IM names.

Can't wait to cruise! :Pinkbounc

I don't have email or IM for my soon to be 9 year old daughter. Is there anyone that has kids around the same age who will be on the cruise.

Judging from some of the home states....it appears that the state of New York will be pretty empty cruise week :lmao:
In my spare time  I have been attempting to make a little chart of names, kids, home states. I feel like I am doing some kind of puzzle.

The last cruise I was on was a group cruise organized by a travel agent that sponsors another Disney list that I am on. We were located all over the country, but had been chatting the 18 months before we left. Someone made a booklet for each one of us with pertinent information, some of the meets, and who is where on the ship. We also all got a wipeoff board to put on our stateroom doors. Came in very handy to leave each other notes, and for my kids to let me know where they were.

PamB...Way to go! :cheer2: Lots of good ideas, especially the Kid's Log and booklet, which could become a nice way to keep in touch.

I just found this thread! We'll be on the same cruise - me, hubby and DD10. This will be our first family cruise and we're already starting to have dreams about it (both good and bad!). Our home is in British Columbia, Canada and we've just booked all our airfare and hotels - so I guess that means that the trip is really happening!!

Our little girl, Aislinn, is very friendly and outgoing and I know that she would love to communicate ahead of time with other kids who will be on the ship.

Lisamcdee,

Welcome to our little (but growing) group. This is our second DCL cruise. Looking at my little cheat sheet list of who is already on, there are a couple of girls your daughter's age. I only have boys.

PS I love your daughter's name

Did anyone else get an info packet today in your mail? Listed dates when I can start making ressies. Really nice little info booklet.
As if I wasn't having enough problems concentrating on work. :woohoo:

I am soooo jealous. When did you make your cruise reservations? I just made our about three weeks ago.

Oooh, I want my booklet too.

:tigger:

WE booked onboard our last cruise in Jan 2005. I haven't had a chance to look at it thouroughly, but it looks like some of the same information that comes in the cruise docs packet. I stuck it in my "take to kids baseball games" bag. It gives me something to do during practices.

Yes! We got the same packet in today's mail! The only thing is, it says I can make my ressies on June 12th (the same day we all have to pay-off our trip). They seem to have "overlooked" the fact that we are Castaway Club members. I guess I'll have to call DCL and see if they don't have our numbers listed.

So when can we make ressies as Castaway Club members? Mine has the June 12th date as well.

Nevermind. June 12 is the date that final payment is due. May 28 is when the ressies can be made, BUT only if final payment is made.

Hi all,

Just got confirmation that my DD's first day of school is 9/7. Yippeeeee! :tigger: I was so afraid they were going to start before Labor Day and we'd have to cancel the cruise. DH is starting to show a little excitement and suggested we go a few days early and go to WDW since we may not get back to FL for a long time.

I'm getting myself over-excited. Need to calm down.

Whew. I don't know how I'm going to make it for another 4 1/2 months. :mickeyjum

Hi All! New here and pretty excited to share that we are sailing the D cruise with you all. DH and I have three girls and we are going to celebrate their birthdays there. Ivana my dd will be turning 9 Aug 31...Melina will be 5 Sept 4 (we will be celebrating early :) and my baby girl Isabella will be turning 1 sept 10 (another early celebration) Can't wait!!!! :cool1:
