I was not sure where to ask this but this is our first DCL cruise, although we have been on several other cruise lines. Does Disney allow you to hand carry roll aboards onto the ship with you. These are the bags on wheels that are the largest carryons permitted on airplanes. Thanks in advance.

Yes. Even better that if that carryon is full of beer or alcohol they allow that too unlike most other cruise lines. There has been talk of changing that in the future by possilbly limiting how much you're allowed, but not at the moment.

you definitely need a day bag and DCL does recommend you have your dinner attire with you because they say they may not get your luggage delivered before dinner if you have the early seating, although I have always received my luggage in plenty of time for dinner (but I do always carry swimsuits, dinner wear, and whatever toiletries/ameneties I may need).

On another subject and this may be the wrong forum but everyone here seems so knowledgeable about everything Disney. We plan to do a couple of days at Disney before the cruise. Does anyone know if the Poly has bathrooms with showers near the pool?

Jeff, did you bring alcohol and stock up that full size fridge in the Roy last August? You have access to some complimentary drinks in the concierge lounge a couple times a day but it would be nice to have a champagne toast at sail away with my folks and family joining us. I'm thinking having some beers in that fridge to compliment the soda/waters would be nice too. The wines they put in the wine fridge are available in the lounge - why charge you for those when you can get it in the lounge for 'free'?? paying enough for that suite in the first place ... ugh, I am ranting ....

Can't help you with the Poly, but when we stayed at the Beach Club, we used the showers in the health club, just had to ask for the key. That way, we got to enjoy the pool one more time.

We will be at Universal, but may go to DTD on Fri. Night. We need to start out with a Disney feel, and we like Earl's for a quick meal.

Yes, I did fill the fridge with a case of beer I picked up the day before. I also popped into the concierge lounge during those free drink times too. I asked concierge to take away the wine in the wine fridge since I don't usually drink wine and we were traveling with two teenagers (Catherine and her friend) who loved showing off the room. I wasn't concened about our teenagers, but those they brought in. If somebody poached a beer I wouldn't care, but the wine was another story.

The next cruise will probably be back in concierge, not sure about another Royal stateroom. The Roy is much nicer on the Dream than the Magic although I like that the Magic Roy sleeps more people.

I went back to page 77 where the names and distribution dates were layed out by i12go2wdw and Coconut Sunshine was not listed. I created the spreadsheet from this list. I looked backed at prior version of the list and don't see them there either. Do you remember how or when they were added to your list?

I'm trying to convince hubby that we need to do concierge on the next cruise. My main reason is so that I have a better chance of actually getting a cabana. Any other selling points that I can use???

You are pretty much guaranteed a cabana if you are concierge. I went on at 120 days and grabbed one very easily. Also, a friend of ours sailing for the first time didn't book anything right away, called shoreside concierge a few weeks ago and got a cabana on the family beach. They seem to hold some back for concierge requests.

Along the same lines of the cabana, you have a more stress free time while planning. If you arrive and come to realize that your bookings conflict with something else you want to do, or want to change your dining, spa, etc, you just tell the concierge hosts that first day and they can take care of it for you. 5 sailings for us and not a single disappointment. They act as your liaison to guest services. You never have to go to or call GS or go find someplace to make changes, wait on lines, put names on wait lists, etc.

One warning though. It is an expensive habit that I cannot break!
