August 25 2012

Thanks Jeff. This is really helpful. Although the basic process is the same, the set up and screens are much different than the last time I did this for our MNSSH cruise.

I do wish it was set up so that you could see all brunch times that were available on all sea days rather than having to select each sea day to try to find an open time. Oh well. Maybe that will be the next incarnation of the website.

You're welcome. I actually have the tutorial screen shots from the Halloween cruise we went on in 2010, but as you mentioned the website had changed so I needed to update the tutorial.

Although many families booked this cruise that were on the MNSSHP cruise I think we are the only families that didn't cancel or switch to another cruise.

We are paid in full as of yesterday morning! :cool1: It's a great feeling isnt't it?

Now people, correct me if I'm wrong, but as I now understand the process, you can book dining, excursions etc. at 12:00 a.m. EST, but you can't do online check-in until 3:00 a.m. EST. Seems kind of odd and reversed, but that's what people say the process is on the main board.

All online booking, activities and online check-in can be done at midnight. The confusion lies in that the online process booking window used to start at midnight Pacific coast time zone, but that changed a few years ago and I couldn't be happier since waking up at 3:00 AM was NO fun.

This also means if you are on the West coast you can book at 9 PM, Mountain 10 PM and Central 11 PM tonight assuming you are Silver.

Good luck to all those booking tonight.

Jeff

Thanks so much for the tutorial. It's been 2 yrs since I have done that. I have a question, is there a way that you can select excursions and Palo times ahead and then confirm at midnite?

No. The "Add Activity" option is not enabled until midnight. You can log in early and keep hitting F5. :thumbsup2

Another question on the FE's...
Are we supposed to gift every day? Is there a standard or is it up to whoever is doing it? What have people done in the past?

Thanks!!!!

BTW, I sent an PM updating our room number, but not sure it went through.

In my experience since you are so busy running around the ship from one activity to the next that visiting each stateroom more than once isn't really feasible. Regardless of how many gifts you have for a family it makes sense to give them all at once. The hope is that some families give early and others wait to spread the fun over the 7 days.

Do you know what day they usually have the Castaway gold/platinum reception? I'd like to try not to book brunch the same day.

Yes we are. I was sorry Judy had to switch hers (she made my FE for me!). While I wasn't sure myself if we were going to be able to keep this one, it just managed to work out for us. Getting this particular week off is always difficult for Mike since its the week everyone in NYPD wants (summer camps are over, but school not yet started ).

Definitely going to be a struggle staying up tonight. We were at a BBQ for most of the day and my body is screaming for sleep.

Just found out about this list. We're so excited for the cruise and booking tonight. Is it too late to sign up for the fish extender exchange?

Unfortunately no. On our August 2011 Dream cruise it was only 5 days, DCL didn't have one that I know of. Prior to that, we were on the Magic over Halloween in 2010 and there was one in Studio Sea midweek, but I can't remember the day.

The one thing I do remember was that we didn't even know the reception was taking place when we were walking by Studio Sea. We saw people queueing up for the something so we asked about it. A very snooty woman said, "This is for gold and platinum members only!". I said, "Oh. Ok. Thanks" and we walked inside at the same time as that woman.

The look on her face as we were greeted by the Cruise Director (Brent) at the door and I told him that this was Sarah's 6th cruise (she was 6 at the time and a gold member) was "priceless". :rotfl2:

Hey Kim,

No problem. I started digging around the thread for the 2010 Halloween cruise and I came across this post with some pictures of Jane's family (JKSWonder), Judy (TJBaggot), Beth (TinkerbellTwins) and Sheri (ThreeIsCrazy). All of us booked this cruise, sadly we all couldn't make it. Did you post any pictures of your family?

No, i'm not big on posting. We were in the big group photo that we took in front of Luminiere on the first day right after we received the personalized Id necklaces. We sat with Judy in the dining room, our sons were together all of the time so, you would definately recognize them.

I have that group photo, I'll dig it up tomorrow. I actually have it framed in my office. Gotta got go to bed, Missy likes going to 7:45 AM mass. TTFN.

Does everyone still have to wait until 3:00 a.m. to get our boarding time:confused3

Joe

Ok, I got everything I wanted. :cool1: Does anyone know if there is a place to print out exactly what you have booked? I can see the activities all booked on our calendar, but there are no specifics listed for each item. I assume DCL will eventually email or snail mail this to us, but wondered if I was overlooking a way to get that now.
