I'm a little confused about Remy. Where did you all find a menu? Also, I tried reading the description on the DCL site and they say that you will meet with the Somelier before your dinner to choose your wine, but your wine and alcohol is extra?

TIA for your thoughts and input. We will not be booking Remy at $75/pp, but will try and do Palo brunch instead. We did Palo dinner last cruise and DH doesn't feel the need to eat Palo dinner again.

No official menu yet that I'm aware of. But they had news articles/interviews, that kind of thing previously posted on the boards where they listed a few potential menu items that they were working on. Very French cuisine.

I'm sure alcohol (gin and tonic, martinis, etc.) is likely extra. I'm not entirely sure about the wine part.

Edited to add: I just did a search. Someone posted a Remy menu link a little while ago. Here is the link to the thread:

It is a preview menu for Remy that was listed on DCL's official Facebook page.

Even though this cruise is so far off in the distance, I went ahead and bought the travel insurance from our TA. Given our need to have a pre-existing asthma issue covered for Hope, plus Steve's possibility of having a last minute travel interruption, we needed to buy the insurance within a certain window of the time of booking. For our family it is well worth it. So now we are financially vested in this beyond the deposit!

We now have two Cat 4A adjoining staterooms (10078,10080) on deck 10, so we have room for 10 people total although it will probably be just the 4 of us (my immediate family). My TA convinced me that I could have the same amount of space in adjoining cat 4As as a Cat 3, but for $3,000+ less.

We have been on the concierge level 3 times on the Magic (1 Royal, 2 Cat 3s). The 08/16/11 sailing we will be in a Royal again, so I went with my TA's suggestion and decided to save a little money.

Cool -- you are just two rooms away from us! I was going around and around with our TA re the 8/16/11 cruise about bumping it up to the V category but decided that since everything was the same in terms of space, just no concierge (and about $2K less) we will stay on deck 10 for that one. We are waitlisted for main dining so fingers are crossed that it will come through. Just got through looking at flights for that cruise too. Won't book yet as we might drive if we go down to Boca beforehand.

We've only done 2 cruises and we've done brunch, tea and dinner (2X) at Palo....at $75 a head, I don't think Remy is in my future.

Originally we were pretty close to you guys; choosing adjoining rooms I guess moved us practically next door. Very nice. :thumbsup2

Not sure if our TA linked our reservations like last time, but if she did that would improve your chances of getting main dining. Typically, DCL tries harder to move people from late to main if they are "traveling together" with a family who already has main.

I think the TA told me she linked ALL our Ressie's together, including with Kim and Brian. Most of us have main dining, so thats good, but can something be put on the ressie about which families are at one table for dinner? With Kim and Brian's family and mine with my mom and her other half, we'll already be at 10. I just hope DCL doesn't get confused with all the links?

Yeah, we will have to sort that all out, it has gotten a little humorous and confusing. I was actually referring to the 08/16/11 cruise where Beth has late and we have main dining. I think that is what Beth was talking about too, but I have been wrong before. :rotfl2:

Wow. Aren't we all a tight-knit group of cruisers!!! Pudo is right, I was referring to the 8/16/11 cruise. Right now it is almost full so only late dining available. So it is very good news to me that we might get main by hanging out with Jeff et al. Course we'd be doing that anyway!

And Jeff, guess what the girls are getting for their 7th birthday on Monday: a lite brite! You get the credit for giving me the idea. :)

Thank you so much for posting this. Don't think we will be at Remy. Palo here we come.

I'm going to convince DH to put up the outdoor Christmas lights this coming weekend! We had gotten for him last year the WHITE LED string lights. But once up I thought they did NOTHING for a Christmasy look or feel. I quickly realized I have to have colour lights up there. Can't remember if we bought some colour ones yet or not, but guess we'll find out this weekend. What I DID accomplish this past weekend, was to clean and reorganinze the side Hallway and dog area. We NEVER use the side door, and thats where the dog bed has been for the past year. So I cleaned out the oversized closet, removed one door and put the dog bed on the floor in there. The dogs love it, they feel more cozy with walls on two sides and an organizer stacked basket system on the other side which also acts as a wall for them. Got the summer seasonal sports stuff stored in the basement and all the winter snowpants, hats and mits organized in that basket system. The plan is to have the kids, in their winter gear, use the side hall. This will keep the front hall, cleaner for longer, and dryer! Next is the front hall closet. AND THEN, I'll start carting up the Christmas stuff. I'd say my favourite (but time consuming to put up) decoration is this Garland and musical bells and lights for the stairway railing! If I get THAT put up, that sets the Christmas mood in this house, and all the rest just starts happening! Add in some Christmas music while doing the decorating, and we're all in a downright MERRY MOOD!:thumbsup2

Wow, this is one busy thread for a trip that is over 600 days away!! Imagine how much we will have to say when we can really start planning. We will be travelling with 2 families very close to us and one of them has never been to WDW or on a cruise before. We are going to try and keep the excitement up by doing something each month Disney and cruise related.
Judy, I am going to decorate this weekend too, it is my favorite time of the year, we even got snow haere in Vancouver this weekend!! Judy I sent you a PM about something unrelated to the cruise, hope you don't mind!!

I'm in the mood to start decorating too. The twins turn seven today -- unbelievable how fast the time has flown since their birth. The tradition at our house is to plunge into Christmas decorations the day after their birthday!

Missy started putting colored lights on the bushes that line the front of the house, I will hang lights from the gutters over the weekend. Typically we will put up a cut tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Missy seems to think she has some catching up to do after being on vacation. :lmao:

Twins: We sent the girls a package, it hopefully should arrive soon. It was originally going to be a birthday card for each, but we got the idea to go through our videos and burn to disc some that include all the girls. Some of the clips are short (20 or 30 seconds) and others are several minutes. During our character breakfast I just let the camera run so there are some fun moments within all that video.

We also sent the girls a cute ecard last night, I hope they had a nice birthday.

BTW...Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

What would you do? When we arrived home from our last vacation, we found our hot water, to be lacking. We had warm water, luke warm, but not HOT. A call was made to the rental company of our Hot water tank. They sent someone out to have a look. Well, the guy says, it's the MIXER valve that needs replacing and that that in fact, is not part of our rental of the hot water tank, it's part of the piping above the tank, and thus owned by us. We'd have to pay for the part and labour. After enquiring as to how much that would be, I was told the part is $49.00 and the labour, as it would be a quick fix, would only be $54.00. I agreed to that, a bill was made up with those prices, the part ordered. The next day a part package arrived. Opened it, hmmmm, these 4 copper 5" pipe pieces look nothing like the Silver T-Shaped pipe I was told is the mixer and needs to be replaced. I called the company to set up the installation apt, and told them I think the wrong parts were sent. They sent another guy out that day, who told me "yes , wrong part", and after some checking around, found that the first guy had ordered the wrong part, and had thus quoted me the wrong price. The actual part piece is $249.00 and the labour would be $109.00 :scared1: THATS a HUGE difference. I made another call to the company and said, as a customer, you can't play around with me like this. The first guy gave me a price I accepted. The fact that HE made a mistake is NOT my fault and the first quote should thus be honoured. The case has now been sent to their customer relations department, who said I should hear back in 48hrs. That was Friday. Today is Tuesday. A lady called me today to ask if I wanted them to go ahead and order the part. I explained the situation again, and said I'm still waiting to hear if they will honour the original price before agreeing to placing the order. She pulled up my file and said she'd call back in a few minutes. A few minutes later somone ELSE called, and told me the same thing as previously. That they will email the file to the customer relations department and if I don't hear back from them today, then for sure He'd call me on Thursday. Talk about frustration. To go to the hardware store, the part is $150.00 we've discovered. My DH says he can replace it himself. The water heater company says if we do the work ourselves, then we wont' be covered under warranty should something go wrong.

SO what would you do? Fight the charges and hope them come through. I think it ridiculous the cost they now want to charge. :sad2: OH.... the joys of owning a home.........

As a whole I would say installing a mixer is not a big deal if you are handy with a soldering torch. I'm not sure what "warranty" you won't be covered for. They already don't cover the mixer so there is no surprise there. I certainly hope they are not saying installing a mixer will void the hot water tank warranty. You might want to double-check that first.

Sorry to hear about your homeowner issues. Hopefully, all works out well soon.
