August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

you must have had a lax CM...We were on the Wonder last year when my DD and DS were both 10 and they were not allowed in the Edge...it was 11 and up...so I don't understand how your 10 year old was allowed in. As for registering an 11 year old, from what I was told you don't have to register them for the Edge. They can just go. If they want to go into the club or lab they don't need a bracelet. It's not an either or type situation. On our last cruise, my kids had bracelet, my friend's daughter was 12 and came in and out with them when ever she wanted.

I hope that this is the case and he will be able to go to both. My DD(8) and DS are very close and she would be heartbroken if they spent too much time apart.

Just wanted to take a poll to find out how everyone is getting to the Port. We are debating between train and driving. We live in South Eastern Mass. There are pro's and cons to both so not sure what to do....

I haven't really researched cost options but we will probably wind up driving and parking at the port. There are 5 of us, which means lots of luggage, and my 4yo can't really pull her weight in the luggage dept. We will also have my DM with us and she can't really walk far and will probably have a scooter, wheelchair, etc... We had arranged for my MIL to drive us from her home in north Jersey, but she just told us she'll be away that weekend. I don't think NJ transit is a good option with all of the luggage, a 4yo, and my Mother.:headache:

Is it still a secret? I would think that would be so hard, being so excited and having to hide it....

Yes it's still a secret, thanks for asking.:goodvibes Although DS is so nosy and suspicious, he just may figure it out. We were out shopping and I was looking for dressy clothes for them and he asked "why do we need these clothes? What do we need them for? Do we have something to do or are we going anywhere?" Ugh.:scared:

Ditto for us!

Us x3! We are also taking a car service directly from home to the port. The cost difference for us is negligible when you factor in parking.

The last time we sailed from NYC, we weighed our luggage for fun .... one bag was 83#!!!!

Speaking of # .... I CANNOT get motivated to diet. WTH?! I was supposed to be so much further along at this point, but I am so going in the wrong direction. I haven't gotten my act together just yet. Tomorrow. Definitely tomorrow. For sure. No excuses. Really.

I am so with you on that one! I was also supposed to be so much further along ... I'm quite happy I have at least managed to log in almost 20 hours of exercise in the last 4 weeks, but that hasn't changed a thing on the scales yet :sad1:

It's not like I'm going to cancel one of our Palo brunches because of this (as if I'd ever do that! :) ) but I'm not entirely happy either.

Let's see...hmmm...it's always good to have dressy clothes in case you get a spontaneous invitation for tea with the queen :scratchin. Yep, I got nothin'.

To my fellow dieters, I too, am going to start again tomorrow..well, maybe Monday. Whoops, have that baby shower at work on Tuesday, and then Polish Heritage night at the Trenton Thunder game (pierogies and kielbasa :thumbsup2), so maybe Wednesday....there just always seems to be something else. I really do have to get started though, if only because I refuse to buy all new pants. Regardless, all dieting ends when we board the boat.

Yes, I couldn't think of anything either.:headache:

To all of the pp that have been talking about failing to really start their diets, despite our cruise being @ 2 months away...I am in the same boat with you all, pun intended! I told myself last year that I was starting the diet after the new year, but like others have said, something else always pops up. On a positive note, I have started exercising 2-3 weeks ago. But with the aging process being as cruel as it is, I haven't seen any weight loss to go along with that.:sad2: No matter what, I will enjoy myself and the food on the cruise.

My wife and I will be on the ship and getting a ride from Staten Island to the Ship Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

With all this talk about dieting I had to chime in. I have a big problem...you see I'm getting more and more in shape. The problem you ask is my stomach...it's becoming more and more in the shape of a circle every day. It's not funny either...I can't see my feet or other parts without looking in a mirror.

after coming back from this weekend's cruise, I now have to lose that same 5 lbs I've been losing over and over again..LOL...I'm committed to taking off the last 30 lbs I've had to lose since going on mega diet last year and losing 60. We got the detox program on the ship that's supposed to help us with fluid retention. It's supposed to work in 12 weeks, so since this is in 10, we told Nicola that we'd be back to tell her if it works or not. LOL

I am setting in shape as well. Pear. Sigh.

Too funny.:lmao::rotfl2: Now I can tell the truth to DH and tell him I'm getting in shape...just won't say what shape it is.;) Pear, circle, all of the above...

Well, I am not happy to report that I am STILL not motivated to get my butt off the couch. And I know they weigh you before the Wild Africa Trek excursion ....

Just finished checking in for the cruise though! Mike had to renew his passport because his old one was not good for 6 months post-cruise. It didn't take long to renew at all; I've just been too lazy to pull it out to look at his new passport number and expiration date. No wonder I am not motivated. I'm just a plain lazy, lazy dog!

So here I am at home today because the dryer died (after 21 years!) so today I'm cleaning out the laundry room so that tomorrow they can take out the old dryer and put a new one in tomorrow. Slightly stressed out as well as the kids leave Sunday for camp and I have a ton of laundry to do! I've always wanted to use this: :laundy:

On the cruise front, my sister and her significant other are deciding this weekend whether they are going to take advantage of the VGT rates! She really wants to go, he's still not so sure. I have a bet with the kids that they won't come, they're saying they will. We'll see!

All I can say is medifast works great. I've lost 154# in just over a year.

Hi all - I am new to this sight. This will be my 2nd Disney Cruise and we are very excited. Traveling with me is my DH - DD 7yrs old and DD 3yrs old. My husband, older daughter and I sailed on the Disney Magic in 2007. Would someone please explain to me how the fish extenders work and let me know if it still possible to join in the fun. Thank you

Don't believe the fish extenders have been closed yet, I'm not sure how open they've been:lmao: The fish is where they leave you mail...it's a metal letter holder by every door. People make pocketed sleeves that hang off the fish (the extenders) and then everyone participating brings a small gift for everyone else and one day during the cruise puts a gift in everyone's extender. It's fun to come back to your room and find gifts...the kids love it.

BTW Welcome to the Board:banana::banana::banana:

I see a 2BR suite (Cat S) opened up for our cruise. Concierge has been sold out for a while now, and today I checked on the pricing for our cruise, and sure enough, there it was. That must mean that someone paid a hefty penalty to cancel that stateroom after final payment was due. The bargain price for that Cat S is only 6280$ per first 2 adults. :goodvibes
