August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

I was orignally happy that the booking window was on a Sat. night, but found out two weeks ago that I have to be at work on Sunday at 7:00 a.m., ugh! Not going to be in good shape after just a few hours of sleep.

This is one of the few cases when I am glad that I am in a different time zone - no need to stay up late to book, my booking window opens Sunday morning 6.00 am.
Granted, normally I would have liked to sleep a bit longer on a Sunday, but not all that much longer, so it's totally okay. :goodvibes

Good morning/afternoon everyone!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! I'm leaving for Cancun, Mexico tomorrow morning so I had to ask my TA to try to get Palo & a cabana for me. Can those gold, platinum or concierge guests tell me if there are any cabanas available on the family beach??

Just checked for you, and right now there are only 2 cabanas left on Serenity Bay, #s 19 and 20. I know that people cancel all the time though, so good luck!

Thank you! I'll check everyday when I get back maybe I'll get some pixie dust.

So, we visit WDW twice a year and this is our first DC and didn't know what to expect so we opted for a lower room to save some money....
though, me being completely Type A, decided to check today for other rooms available and LO & BEHOLD, a Cat 10A opened on deck 5 (ahem, secret porthole window) for only $100 more...and we had just paid it all off last week!
Totes perpetrating a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom for less!

Oh, the little things...

Double digits (even DH is exercising these days...swooon!).

3 months!!! I can't believe it's that close.:hyper:

Alright, I know I am a DCL virgin and admittedly know nothing about cruising with the mouse. But I feel that I have done a lot of research about DCL on the Disboards, so I have to admit I was surprised to find that I didn't know you had to dress yourself for pirate night. When I heard about a pirate night, I thought that they provide costumes for you...you know like on the Love Boat.:lmao: Gosh I feel stupid just typing this post. Oh well.:confused3

Anyway, what do most of you experienced DCLers bring with you for pirate night?:lmao: I feel like my packing list is getting out of hand.

Thanks for the input.:goodvibes

Some people dress up a lot, some just a little, and some not at all. I haven't been on DCL in a few years, but at dinner they used to provide a pirate bandana, my family is one of those who do not dress up, but we do wear the bandana. Not sure if they still do that.

on our DC in 2007 we used the bandanas that were provided at dinner...this year I found some cute pirate accessories at Target $ spot...hooks, earrings, patches...

that's about it for us!

Paid in full today!

When I was talking to TA she offered to book Palo for us, so looks like I will not be joining the midnight booking crew. Carry on without me, and good luck to us all (May the odds be ever in your favor :rotfl2:)

We've also decided to change to late seating. We booked so late last cruise that was all that was left. I've been going back and forth since we booked, but I just remembered how unrushed I felt, and the kids weren't an issue at all (thank you Dine & Play).

P.S. The Magic is in port in NY today! As noted, 3 short months to go.

Hey! Good luck to everyone booking their on-board activies/shorex tonight!

For those in NJ I have gotten a great price for transportation to NYC, let me know if you are interested and I will give you the link.

We still haven't gotten our quote. His ad says he only does Monmouth and Ocean but he says we're not too far out, so I'm waiting to hear

:lmao:refering to (May the odds be ever in your favor), just went and saw it again tonight for the 2nd time!

Just booked Palo brunch, massage for dh, parasailing for me and dd, and epcot transportation. Was not able to do the online check in. I will do that in the morning.

Thank you - I got everything I wanted, Palo brunch and dinner, massage, earliest bus to Magic Kingdom and Nassau Harbor Cruise . Can't believe how many Palo Brunch times were still available ...

Palo brunch and dinner, Bahamas catamaran excursion, first transport to Epcot, check! Almost completed online registration, but I realized the expiration for the kids passports aren't correct and I don't know where the new ones are, will have to wait until DH gets home.

I'm so happy! ::yes::

We are on the first bus to Epcot also! We got brunch and parasailing on Castaway Cay.

We actually might be changing it to DHS. I tried to get the family to discuss our plans, and nobody cares. So, Sunday morning I sat down and reserved my best guesses. Now, everyone has an opinion :confused3! Where were they Saturday when I asked them what they wanted to do for our day in WDW?

They may want to go to DHS first to ride the revamped Star Wars and the new Toy Story ride, then we will likely go over to Epcot for the remainder of the day. I haven't changed anything yet, however, so you still might see us on the early bus to Epcot.

Now the big discussion is how we are getting to port. If we drive, it will cost us $240 to park. One option was to park at DH's cousins house in Linden and take car service to the port, but that's $290 before gratuties, tolls and gas surcharges. So DH is leaning toward NJ Transit to Penn Station, and then taking a cab (actually probably 2) to the port. Interestingly enough, it's not the parking cost, it seems DH doesn't want to drive in NY! The man will drive anywhere/anytime, and he gets squemish about NY? Who knew.

I pointed out the amount and type of luggage we will likely have, and he's still advocating train. This will be an adventure :yay:.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day for those that were celebrating.

:rotfl:Our families have so much in common. I finally made my DH and DD sit down Friday night to discuss the plans. We are still undecided about what to do in Nassau if anything, but at least we got the pressing stuff decided.

We also don't know yet how to get to the Port, our options are driving, Bus, and Train. My DH wanted to drive, but I am nervous about the parking filling up and also the traffic, he doesn't do well in traffic so I think even though we will need to carry all our luggage on the train, it might be our best option. But still not sure.

My DD has been enjoying texting with you DS. They will have to set up a meeting time when we get on the ship.

Hello, All

Just had to move our JUL20 8 NIGHT, that's been booked since opening day to this one. Thankfully, I managed to get all our same excursion and PALO times.

We are coming from Canada and travelling with me is DH, DS 17 and DD 16 and it's our 6th DCL cruise. Looking forward to catching up on the thread news and also participating in the Fish Extender if names are still being taken.

Now, that things are settled I need to book our hotel and airfare. Looks like we might be flying in/out of Newark Airport. Can anyone give me the lowdown on how to get to/from Manhatten from Newark Airport? We will be flying in a few days before and flying home the day we disembark.
