August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

Greetings to all!

Welcome aboard to OKW Lover.

105 days :hyper:

Although, now I am starting to panic a bit. 105 days (maybe because it was in the 400s when we booked) just doesn't seem like alot of time. Still have to lose 15 pds. (BTW, DH has a bum knee. Dr. says before they would consider surgery they would do pt and he should lose some weight. So, right after the holidays, DH starts watching and loses 25 pds! I want to be proud of him, am proud of him, but I am sooooo jealous. How come men can do that? Oh, but the knee is much better).

Between now and then, the kids are away at camp (DD two weeks, DS 4!), I therefore have no idea the condition of their casual clothes and bathing suits will be in by the end of the summer (last year I threw DS's sneakers away the day he came home, don't know why I even bothered to put them in the car).

Sorry to share my stress. Really quiet day at the office, no one here to listen to me complain!

No worries....it will all work out. My DH and I started a diet program together a little over a year ago. In that year he has lost over 140 lbs and I've lost 60. Haven't lost anything in about 6 months and he keeps losing. It's just the man vs. woman thing. Don't stress over it..it will be fine.

My kids will be coming off of 8 weeks at camp and their clothes will probably be a disaster. I'll just have to get them stuff little by little over the summer and really stock up at Kohls like the beg of August when all the summer stuff is on clearance for almost nothing. I did that last year and got amazing deals. This cruise is supposed to be relaxing not stressful...lots of sea days with nothing to do but relax...NO STRESSING ALLOWED !!!:lmao:

I think we ALL go through the pre-vacation stress! The good part is that is all goes away the second you set foot upon the ship. :goodvibes

I'm good once I get to port, don't even need to be on the ship yet. At that point anything not done ain't going to get done.

8 weeks! Do they even come home with sneakers, or just strips of canvas strapped to their feet :lmao:?!

Looking forward to all those sea days with nothing to do by relax. One of the main attractions of this sailing.

I'm going to start posting my cruise stress dreams, like the one where we had to "tender" out to the ship on helicopters, and I realized I forgot to pack all the formal night clothes. I sometimes wonder where my subconsious comes up with this stuff.

So I recently made a $2000 payment on this cruise using my debit card. For some reason the money didn't come out of my account. I contacted my TA and my bank. TA said that DCL has the money. My bank said they do not have a record of the payment. Finally figured out what happened. Somehow DCL charged my MOM's credit card which hasn't been used since I paid the deposit way back in April of last year. Only thing is DCL doesn't have a clue how that happened. They agreed to reverse the charge and I'll pay it with my card instead. I was really stressing these last 2 weeks wondering what happened.

It's only day camp, but we're usually so busy over the summer that I don't have time to replace or even do anything for them clothes wise. The only saving grace is that I do get to do all the laundry and see when things fall apart.:rotfl::rotfl:

This sounds like one of my stress dreams! Glad you were able to figure it out and resolve.

Latest stress dream, I find out I'm pregnant and I will be past the point where I would be allowed to cruise on the boarding date. Strangely I was more upset about missing the cruise than having another baby at my advanced age! :lmao:

Hope all the Moms had a wonderful Mothers' Day.

Just paid in full!!!!! Now we are all set to book our activities on May 27th :cool1:

If any of you have children who will be in the Edge and they would like to correspond with my DD 13, send me a privite message.

Woot!!!

I asked this on our FB page, but who here is dressing up for Pirate Night?
Getting dressed up for pirate night is one of the main reason to be on the cruise - it's so much fun - you'll fine my DW and myself in full pirate outfits - it makes picture taking so much fun - not sure about DD, she's 14 and may not think its cool to dress up

I'll be in full pirate gear. One less outfit to think about when packing. DD15 most likely will still be in pirate gear at least until the party.

Question:

I paid in full over the weekend and I can start booking my excursions, palo, etc. on May 27th. I just wanted to make sure that I could sign in at 12:00 a.m. est on the 27th (night of the 26th) to start making the reservations. It has been a while since I have done this and just wanted to make sure you can still do this at midnight.

Thanks

yes you can

So, let's see if I can catch up:

Pirate t-shirts, bandana, maybe a couple of fake tattoos, but no pirate costume per se (but love to see those who dress up).

Double digits!

I'll be up at midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning, too. Not too worried about booking excursions, but boy do I want Palo. Glad it's not on a work night, I'd be good for nothing the next day.

Hope everyone is well. Looking forward to a nice long Memorial Day weekend. It's supposed to be cloudy and shower-y through Thursday here, but this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. :sunny: It will make the unofficial start of summer all the more sweet!

I was orignally happy that the booking window was on a Sat. night, but found out two weeks ago that I have to be at work on Sunday at 7:00 a.m., ugh! Not going to be in good shape after just a few hours of sleep.

I agree, not worried about excustions, but my DH wants a massage and we want Palo Brunch. Also me and DD would like to try parasailing.
