August 24th 2012 Cruise to the Bahamas!!!!

Oh it's my 21st birthday exactly 1 month after we depart, so I guess this is sort of a birthday present to myself also haha :)

Hi Everyone, we're from San Diego and this will be our first DCL cruise. My son is a CM and he was able to get a great deal on a verandah room so we could not resist. Both of our sons, ages 20 and 18 have been raised on Disney and we are all big fans. Luckily this cruise worked out with their two different university schedules so we are really excited to be doing this. Our last cruise was in 2005 on Carnival with another family so I'm sure this will be quite a different experience.

We're very much looking forward to Serenity Bay on CC and just relaxing on board.

See you soon!

Mike, Donna, Greg and Ryan
Welcome aboard. It is awsome to cruise with the CM rate!!
Hello :), I booked this cruise today; it was a last minute trip that I decided! I'm 20 and coming by myself but I'm super excited and hope to meet a lot of people and families :)! This will be my first Disney cruise but I have cruised before! Cannot wait :)!!!!
Welcome aboard to you too!! I think it is cool that you are cruising on your own it show you are an independant 20 year old!!!

Thanks for the welcome :)! Haha all my friends think I'm insane for going alone and I swear I gave my mum a heart attack (she's the biggest worry wart ever lol!), but I just needed the vacation and I believe Disney is the only large cruise line that actually lets you book a room when you're 18 and not 21 (exactly a month away from my 21st birthday when we sail!!).

I'm so excited for this cruise, being able to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and all the gang will definitely bring out the child in me haha :)!

This will also be a new experience too as I've cruised before but only with Royal Caribbean so I'm definitely excited to explore the ship and see how the atmosphere will differ and such from past cruises :)!

We did a quick tally... and I'd say anywhere from 15 - 20k.

BUT... if you look at the dock / depart times... I'd say the port will be empty after 2 pm.

that's awesome! Most of the time when I've been on the Disney cruises, we are basically the only ones in port so Senor Frogs is not very busy. This will be fun!

We are from Toronto too!!! How awesome that you are taking a cruise on your own at 20 years old... almost 21. Good for you!!! Tell your mom you will have lots of internet friends to keep an eye on you, that will help her to stop worrying! :rotfl2:

Looking forward to sailing with you!

We're recording this week's podcast on Tuesday and I'd like to give a shout out to the thread for anyone else coming on this cruise who listens to the podcast. We need an official meet up time and location though! I suggest the Bon Voyage bar, located just off the main atrium, maybe immediately following the safety drill? Thoughts?

That's awesome :)! When are you flying down? Haha yeah I'm super excited to finally take a trip by myself :D, hahaha she will definitely feel better about that! She's the BIGGEST worry wart ever and I'm the baby of the family so it makes it even worse lol!

Looking forward to sailing with you too! We should definitely all pick a time and place to meet up at the beginning of the cruise!

Welcome to the DISboards and welcome to the cruise thread, fellow Europeans! :woohoo:

You could not have picked a better cruiseline than Disney for your first cruise - but here's my word of warning - it gets addictive!!!!!! :rotfl2:

When are you flying to the US? Are you staying at WDW before you cruise? We will stay at OKW before the cruise, but before that we will travel to Key West for a week.

Any questions?

My thoughts were to meet at 3:00 prior to the drill , Vista Cafe was suggested. I was thinking 3:00 so we could head to the sail-a-way party right after safety drill. Also I had suggested a Dis meet at DTD prior to sailing on Wed 22nd sometime late afternoon early evening??

Finished shopping for the cruise over the weekend (toiletries, etc). My wife is probably the most prepared person you could ever imagine. If you need something... she's got it.

Aside from that... I'm just mulling over the packing... how to keep myself from over-packing. I have to think of this as a 2 part vaca with laundry in the middle... lol

sorry, must have missed it. That sounds good to me! I have to work until 8pm Wed and then pick my mom up from the airport so I probably can't make the DTD meet, but I'll be at the cove cafe at 3!

My mom gets in at 8, so i'd have to leave DTD around 7:15pm, so I could probably do 6pm. I'll find a way to get out of work :rotfl:

Very good thinking, Michelle! A 3pm meet is perfect and we love the Vista Cafe! :thumbsup2
