August 24, 2014 Dream DVC Member Cruise

Well, spring has arrived for at least a day or two here in Ohio! Other good news, I had a waitlist for a night at BCV after the cruise, and it came through, so I'll be at BLT for 1 night before the cruise, and 2 nights at BCV afterward. That's a pretty nice week long vacation, I think! Bobbi:)

Hi Bobbi
Nice and beautiful one day spring here in New Jersey too! We just try out best not to look on the ground that still pretty covered with snow :-(

Our snow is mostly gone. Hopefully yours will be so, soon! My small fish pond is free from ice and the goldfish were seen swimming today.:)

By the way, I taught school in Hamilton Township and Trenton NJ. That was years and years ago. Is that near where you are?

DCL does not give first time DCL cruisers lanyards. However, since this is a DVC cruise, does everyone in the cabin get a DVC member cruise lanyard with a plastic pocket for room key? I have ours from our two previous Member Cruises, but does everyone get the lanyard, member or not?

Thanks!:goodvibes

AFAIK, they give all guests one of the Member Cruise lanyards.

My cabin mate has not cruised before, and I was going to send her a Silver Lanyard, so she has something for her key. Then I got to thinking that maybe she will get one.

All of this " getting rid of stuff because we are going to move" is getting to me. Really, if I don't get rid of an extra lanyard, will it really matter for the move!:lmao:

What school(s) in Hamilton did you teach at? I am originally from Hamilton Twp.!

We are in Central Jersey by Rutgers University!

We are in Central Jersey by Rutgers University!

I grew up in Bayonne, went to school at TSC, now the college of NJ, and would pass the exit for Rutgers on my many trips back & forth to school. TSC was essentially known as a "suitcase college" very quiet on weekends.

NJ is very dear to me...We share a Cape May home with my DSis, my mom, who is 94 lives there.

I love it here. I moved here from Brasil in 1992, and now I have a family (husband and two boys). Can't see my self in any other place, the fast pace of life is just like back in my country. Besides NJ our only other place is the DVC villas!

DH & I are booked for this...our 1st DVC member cruise although we are "charter members" of DVC, having bought our first home during the first year! Best thing we ever did :cheer2: We are both Platinum, have been on all 4 DCL ships, done brunch, tea, Palo and Remy dinners - all fabulous! We did Remy w/ the full chef's table/wine pairing which cost us more than the 3-night cruise!! We love to cruise for the food, the service and the relaxation. Not sure what we will plan to do this time but have the calendar marked for booking dining, etc. Looking forward to meeting many of you fellow DVCers :dance3:

:welcome:

It took us longer to appreciate what DVC would mean for us, but we are glad we bought into it! I will be sailing with a friend who is a first time cruiser. I do not want to overwhelm her with activities.

Meeting other DVCers is one of the best things about Member Cruises.

Hi Bobbi,

You raise an interesting point -- I was thinking that with a number of people staying at the resorts post-cruise, we would all see some familiar faces. We certainly have met some lovely people while on our resort only vacations, and enjoy meeting up with one family each year as we vacation at the same time.

How frequently have you run into DVC friends/acquaintances on your subsequent trips? I'd love to extend our DVC friend network!

Best,

Best,

I frequent the Games Forum on the Disboards and we had a very nice meet in October. On the Exchange board, Meriweather keeps a list of trips, and when she and I overlap, we do some things together. Some Dis'ers & I have become friends! You seem to have had the same experience.

Hopefully we can have a meet at the TOTW lounge at BLT the night before the cruise.

On our WBPC cruise coming up, there are all sorts of different get togethers planned, but it is 15 nights. Being only 4 nights, I do not know if there would be interest in perhaps a breakfast in the dining room on the morning of the sea day. DCL would set aside an area if people wanted to meet and have breakfast together say at 9 then go on with their day. We are doing that for lunch on the last sea day of WBPC cruise.
