August 23-30, 2003 "Welcome Home Fellow Cruisers--Trip Report Completed"

You'll all arrive at the Radisson and meet under the palm trees shaped in a V for Verandahman!!

That's what I was thinking, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Under the giant "V" is a Lifetime Gift Certificate to Dixie Crossroads for all the "Rock Shrimp" and "Cornfritters" you can eat!!! Get out of my way, I'm going for the gold!!!

O.K., this message is twofold. I received an e-mail from Kim this afternoon, and I have attached it below. The first part of the e-mail was something I was thinking about myself. I do have some of your cabin numbers because of the Monday Brunch we are planning at Palo. If you don't mind, if I don't already have your cabin number, could you send it along. Just in case we miss each other at the planned DISmeet gatherings, I would like to deliver the "little trinkets" I made for each of our families on our cruise list. I will go back to the cruise list in a few minutes and enter the cabin numbers I already have.

The second part of Kim's e-mail deals with maybe some of the children can get together and have a blast at the sail away party after our DISmeet on Saturday. It might be a good chance for the kids to get to know one another better. What are your thoughts???

Hi Andy, I was just curious is this somewhere with a list of all our
cabin numbers? I just thought it would be nice to know if someone from
the board was next to you. I wasn't sure if this is on list or not. Also,
we have decided for sure now to stay in Orlando both Thursday and
Friday night. That way we won't be messing with switching hotels and losing
quality Florida time! One more thing, when we cruised last year the
sailaway party was a lot of dancing and just having fun, especially for
the kids. I think it would be more fun for Ashley if there was another
kid or kids to hang out with during this party. Maybe Angelina or someone
else from the board with a kid close in age? It is before they break up
into their kid programs. Any thoughts? Take Care, Kim

I will post the updated cruise list shortly.

Oh you are, are you? BD did you hear that, Jeanny is easy to please!!!

With all this racing from Orlando Airport to the Radisson on Friday Night, if I'm not working, I think I'm heading to port early. I could get run over by all you excited Diser's. If I'm working (I hope I am), then I'll be taking my chances. Please remember to be careful, these Florida driver's make driving interesting especially if it rains. It's like driving in the first Minnesota Snowfall when it rains down here.

I forgot to mention earlier, DW is starting to get our dress clothes together for the cruise, it's getting realer and realer, by the minute. Like my phraseology??? I'm very tired and getting quite giddy tonight, lack of sleep will do that to a person!!!

Good Night All!!!

I woke up a little after 3am, wide awake again, my sleep pattern is all messed up. I feel like a kid again, waiting for Christmas morning to arrive, only this gift is much, much, much larger!!!

I remember being a kid, and counting down the days until Christmas....so excited for what was about to come. I feel the same way now! I don't want to rush these days by, and lose part of my summer, but I want it to be time to go!

I keep telling myself that the anticiaption is part of the fun....like Christmas Eve is the best part of Christmas....but I am not really convinced

It's true Mary, the aticipation is part of the fun. My mom and niece were over last night, and I helped them get their docs filled out. You should have seen the excitement on their faces, it was PRICELESS!!!

Hey Jeanny.

I'm easy to please!!!

No woman is easy to please, Jeanny. The last woman to tell me "she's easy" I believed and guess what. I needed seven stitches and a bible after we had sex...

I GOT MY DOCS and guess what…

When I made the reservations for the cruise I needed 2 connecting rooms and wanted a Cat 9. There were no rooms on Deck 2 so we got deck 1. Being that we are 2 single parents with 2 kids each we didn’t think it would make sense to spend the extra $$ on a different category since we had to pay full price for the 1st child. Anyway, on the way to pick up the doc’s I kept thinking “should I have paid the extra money and gotten a different cat”, but then I thought “too late now”, I was also thinking about Verandah Man and how lucky he was to get a Verandah (and if anyone deserved it it’s Verandah Man) but since I needed 2 connecting room there was no way I was going to be upgraded. I walked into the travel agent and they handed me the documents and didn’t say anything. I decided to open the documents to check the room # and the original room # was crossed off and in it’s place was handwritten a new room #…….. I got upgraded J. Verandah Man you must have brought good luck to NJ. We are now on Deck 6, have connecting rooms and have a Verandah. I keep thinking I am going to get to the ship and they will tell me it’s a mistake. I was excited before about the trip but this really makes this trip great. I’ve been smiling all day.

Below is an e-mail that I sent out to those on our cruise list that I have e-mail addresses for. I wanted to put a copy here for our other cruisers to see. Sorry, I don't have the photos uploaded into my DIS Photo Gallery, but trust me, the sky did not look very nice in these photos, and I got an e-mail from Moosysmom(Lynn) saying that there were some strong thunderstorms going through the Central Florida about sailing time today. Please read the note below and let me know your feelings on the subject.

Hi Gang,

I've had a very busy day today. Helping other cruisers on other cruises with t-shirts, pillow cases, etc... and this topic came up for discussion.

I'm pondering something here crew and I need your help. Take a look at these photos, the one photo was taken at 4:58 with the Magic still docked, the other photo was at 5:05 with the Magic just leaving. Look at the sky in these photos, this can be quite typical for a Florida afternoon. Not to mention, very hot and humid. Some of us could be outside in the hot sun and humid air for the safety drill, then staying outside for the DISmeet and the sail away party. What is your feeling of maybe moving the DISmeet to the Promenade Lounge (air conditioned) on deck 3 after the safety drill?

I have seen quite a few other groups having their DISmeets there. I hear it is quieter than up on deck 9 as well. Please share your feelings about this. If we have enough in favor of moving the shipboard DISmeet, I will add a post to the 8-23-03 thread.

I'd be interested in what you have to say.

Congratulations Mindy!!! And to think you had to wait until today to find this out. Wasn't it exciting finding you were not only upgraded, but got a verandah to boot!!! My DW sends her Congratulations also!!!

Congratulations from me too Mindy!

Andy I am all for moving the meet inside but my only concern is missing some of the sail away party. Since this is our first cruise ever and may be the last for some time, we really don't want to miss any of the festivities. Does the sail away party start directly after the safety drill?

From what I have gathered, the Sail Away Party is 4:45 until 5:15. I've been told the safety drill is usually finished by 4:15. This is the info I have received from past cruisers.
