August 2016 - anyone else planning for this time?

Are there big differences in crowds week leading up to Labor Day and the week after Labor Day?

We've done both weeks a couple different times and while neither week is crazy busy, there's def. a noticeable drop off of crowds after the Sunday before Labor Day. Labor Day itself tends to be pretty low on crowds and even moreso after that. If we had the choice, we'd chose the week of/after Labor Day as opposed to the week before/leading up to Labor Day.

We're going the last week in August, currently booked at the Yacht Club but I am also interested in an AoA family suite. Any chance those might get discounted? We can't do free dining because we already have tickets.

Hi everyone! I wish I could find some of these great deals! Now that I can no longer use the military discounts, I'm feeling so lost LOL. I haven't seen anything super fabulous, but so far we are trying to decide between staying either the first week of June with the Spring Vacation Offer ($2050 at one of the All Star Resorts, without dining plan) or a stay either the first week of June or second week of August and using the Summer Meal Offer, which would be somewhere around $2200-2400 in the value resorts. I am not completely opposed to staying in a value, but I am pretty bummed that it was a lot cheaper than that for us to book a room at POFQ AND having the dining plan last time. Like I said, spoiled on military prices, ha!

Another thing we are considering is buying tickets now (in case of impending increase) and booking the room separate because that does come out cheaper, but I'm afraid a better offer may come out and then I'm stuck. Is there a good chance of that happening? And what do y'all think of the previous offers? Spring Vacation, or Summer Meal? I know it's just one meal per day but at least it's something lol. Also, June or August? I was leaning toward August just because I read somewhere that Soarin' is thought to be reopening sometime in June but no solid dates yet and I don't want to miss it! Any other factors to consider in August? I know later August is better but the kids will be back in school then. I have only ever been in May, June, and late September.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice and sorry about the long post! It's just been a little while and I feel lost and like I'm starting all over again!

Hi - I'd go with 1st week of June over 2nd week of August: lower crowds and lower heat/humidity (not that much lower, but definitely a bit lower!). The pricing isn't all that different, and I think its worth a little more $ to get even a little bit lower crowds. HTH.

Found this ad for a free meal daily on certain dates - it's from the regular Disney site, so it's nothing special, I guess - but better than nothing, if nothing else comes up!

That's the offer we are thinking about booking for either August or the first week of June. Not much time left and I'm killing myself trying to decide! I know it doesn't seem like much, and it isn't true Free Dining, but it is one free meal per day, and since we normally eat breakfast in our room, that would leave us only buying one meal per day. Now if I could stop waffling between June and August! I know Amanda999 suggested June, which I'm fine with EXCEPT for the fact that Soarin' may still be down - has anyone heard different on that?

I just booked the labor day special from our TA that I don't think cannot be named here. But it's an easy google search. Normally I book our vacations directly through Disney because we've been several times and I just did not see the value in using a TA. However, this really was an exception and we are very excited to have gotten an amazing deal. Anyway, it is our son's first visit (he will be 23 months), and our first time staying at Poly (8/23-8/27). Does anyone know if the 4th week in August will be considered value or peak season? I am trying to budget for our meals, and I know the menu prices change depending on the season.

We are hoping for a discount to come out soon for the 3rd week of August. We plan to stay at AKL. :)
We are hoping for some discounts to be offered soon too - as we too are trying to book for that same week.

What would you do? We are going to need to fly to WDW two days early to save over $400 in airfare... would you spend that $400 to stay at the same hotel that you are booked at (BC)? Or would you stay value or moderate to save a few $$ and then transfer to BC on the original check in day? Just curious what you would do... we aren't sure what to do!

How long does that make your entire stay? Do you mind packing/re packing? How much do you like to explore another resort?
The answers will help you decide. It really comes to what you like to do most with the savings.

We like to do beach before Disney in August so my first choice would be to rent a car and book an hotel at Cocoa Beach. This time we are staying 10 nights at the BC so I would not extend that stay. I would consider doing a split stay but only if my tickets can be used before check-in into the BC and be valid until the end (I need to contacy Disney for a confirmation on that), especially since they include Water Parks and Fun.

I would/have flown in early and stayed at a value before switching to deluxe on the same trip i also flew in really late and stayed overnight at the airport before going to disney. I wouldn't hesitate to do that again. I try to pack what we will need for the first 2 nights in one area of the suitcase and don't fully unpack until we get to the main hotel.
We just bring out luggage to bell services at the value, go to park then pick up the luggage when we check into the deluxe. Just be aware they tell you the luggage won't be available until after 4pm, so stay at the park til dinner or toss a bathing suit into your backpack to keep with you.

Is July/August special offer expected to come out mid-March? Excited to book a trip but am not going to do it at rack rates.

Looking at Disney World historical discounts, they seem to release the good general public discounts for August more in April, sometimes as early as end of March, sometimes as late as early May.

I already got a Pin code (can only be used by me) that was providing up to 30%. Keep your hope up... And subscribe to a few newsletters to be notify when discountd come out. Of course, also keep watching this thread :rolleyes1

Oh well, thanks. I was looking at historical dates from last year via Mousesavers and it said March 19 for Disney Visa cardholders and, I believe, the 23rd for general public. I have Disney Visa so I'm hoping it will go more like that. The 19th is a Saturday, so maybe Friday, the 18th. Basically I want someone to say they have inside info on an even earlier date, haha. I can't wait to be booked!
