August 2015 Car Rental Rate Watch

Checked rates this Am thru Costco. RATES DOWN a bunch from what I've seen lately for me. mine old rate still better but at least we are in same neighborhood

Nothing changed for us as of this morning. Our cheapest rate we have is still at $404 for an SUV for two weeks from mid August with Dollar pickup at MCO. The next best we have is $438 from Alamo, but that's with a pick up at the Disney Car Care Center using the Visa and Vegas discount. Plus I still need to add the extra driver to the rate as well.

Looking for Aug 8-15, Tampa to Cape Canaveral. We are staying 1 week in Orlando before our Disney Cruise. We will also need a car for the 22nd just to drive back to Tampa. Anyone else notice Dollar tacks on a lot to their base - mid size went from 208 to 313 after all their charges. They also added a 1 way fee for the 1 day rental. I cant find anything below 250 (for the week using Costco) and 70 (for the day). Should I keep waiting? Will it eventually drop? And I also tried National - they were like $500 for the week for a mid size!!

I would love some input. I must be doing something wrong. Dates are Aug 13- 28th. Lowest I'm seeing using alamo insider, costco, and visa is $613 for a premium (currently cheapest option.) I see many others posting with much lower numbers, what am I doing wrong????

I just checked with the codes I'm using and I'm getting $600's too for those dates. It must just be those dates or that week. I'm going 8/26-9/9 and I got a quote for $245. Keep checking! They will hopefully drop more. Good luck!

I think something is going on in Orlando that week. We ended up changing our dates because flights for week beginning August 15th were outrageously high and so were car rentals. We're going the 8/22 through 9/1 and it made a huge difference.

I know its a pain, but how about changing cars halfway through the trip? I priced out Alamo using your codes and a full size from 8/13-8/20 is 312.59 and from 8/20 to 8/28 is $144.12.

Price went down again for me. $113.32 for a midsize 8/29-9/5, using visa and Costco codes. It looks like all cars from economy to premium are under $200.

I keep checking mine for Aug 5-16 and am getting nothing close to what I already have booked ($343 for an SUV with Alamo). I will keep booking but have resigned myself to this probably being the best price.

I did at one point have a Minivan for the same dates for $161 with Fox Rentals but I read so many horror stories with them that I cancelled the booking - frankly it's just not worth the hassle and the start or end of our trip.

I will keep checking though until the day before!

Costco Contract ID 7014627, and the Visa coupon code AD2338FDF plus the Insiders rate have given me the best rates so far.

It could be Location, length of Stay or expires before you wish to use. It doesn't work for my res in FL either and I'm 99% sure it's length of stay for me.

Not at pick up but I did direct to garage option/online check in. I had put number in at some point in res. making process

Well I got an intermediate SUV for 250 with Alamo and Costco (Aug 8-15) so I booked. Going to keep looking though - hoping it will go down.

Just booked a full size with Alamo for $154 with BJ's and visa coupon code for Aug 25th-Sept 1 yesterday it was $178 that's the biggest drop I've seen!

No change for me. Still $268 for a fullsize Aug 19 to Sept 2 using Costco 7014627, and the Visa coupon code AD2338FDF with Insiders.

My only change for August 20 - 30 for mid SUV, is that now Alamo isn't showing them available, I'm happy with $30 a day including taxes, but thought I could still get better, booked back in April.
