August 2014 booking

Hello,

My family is making some plans for a trip for late August 2014 (Dream season). I wanted to get some advice on potential availability of resorts. We are looking to do a 2 BR for ~1 week probably for Aug 16-24 time frame.

Does anyone know how availability is for the 7 month window? We are Saratoga members, but will need to borrow to make the reservations no matter where we end up so I don't want to reserve a room at 11 months to "hold a spot" in case I end up getting a cheaper room. So my thought was to book at 7 months out (I'm sure Saratoga would be available then anyway). Just for planning purposes, I was wondering if we would have a shot at one of the walking resorts or an AKL value as we have never booked that time of year before.

With all respect answering an availability question is a guess at best. No one truly knows what will be available and if it will be available when you book. Patterns are also hard to predict, what seemed to be a slow time last year has picked up this year.

If you read the DIS often, it seems like there are more "what's going on, no availability during this period", posts.

I would hate for you to make plans based on a guess here only to find out when you try to book that inventory is gone.

In general, the summer months have been easier to book than most other times of the year. SSR will almost certainly have availability at that time, so IMO, there is no need to book a back up there at 11 months.

I think you have a good shot at getting BLT Lake View, BWV Pool/Garden, OKW, AKV standard or savanna and possibly VWL. BCV is possible, but your chances there are not as good as at the others.

AKV value or concierge, BLT standard or theme park, BWV standard or Boardwalk view and VGF are not very likely.

Obviously, you will be booking online as soon as your 7 month window opens. Don't be afraid to waitlist if you really want something in particular. Good luck!
