August 2014 Anyone Else In?

So...we are returning to the World for the first time in several years to celebrate a major milestone, and I am torn. I managed to get a code which has us staying at AKL just like last time for 30% off - and we have the dining plan. We loved it there, and my younger daughter was adamant that we should not stay anywhere else. However, I really want to try POR and I even tried to plan a split stay, but it was going to be sooooo expensive. I know we could just take a bus over and have a QS meal, but I am afraid once we arrive at AKL nobody will want to take time just to visit the grounds of another resort. Anyone who has done a split stay - is there a secret to doing it for less? I see lots of folks doing a split, and I'd love any advice. I have all our ADRs done, so I am not going to switch, but still toying with the idea of adding a day or two to stay at POR. Good idea or bad? Anyone who has stayed at both AKL and POR have an opinion to share? Are we missing out, or is the deluxe really a better choice? Thanks!

Hi I stayed at POR in 2012 and really enjoyed it. We booked it again for this August with a great room rate. The deal we found included Deluxe so we decided to do a split stay with AKL and POR. I found POR to be cheaper by about $60.00 a night. We are doing 5 nights at POR and 3 nights at AKL. We have always wanted to try it but just couldn't afford it. I am not sure how POR will be more money for you. However, I think a split stay is nice to get to try something else.:)

We are booked in the Wilderness Lodge, our first time there... This trip will also be DH's first time at AK... and all of ours first time to see Fantasmic (planned anyways!)can't wait for those!!!...

(just changed my avatar to DD's face painted at AK, she "special requested" this one, it's a bear with a bow!...) princess:

Most of my ADR's are booked, BBB booked, Fantasmic dinner package booked... hoping to include horseback riding at WL...

We are coming Aug 16-23! Anyone worried about crowds? I see the predictors are all saying different things. One gives that time frame (mid week) green light and others give it a crowd level of a 6

We are booked at POR August 16-26th. It is our family of 7, plus my in laws. We have done August before and we were just fine with the weather. Not sure how my inlaws will be in the heat, but we shall see. We already told them they are not required to keep up with us. I did make reservations for meals with the entire family though. Still more to make, but hoping more options open up around the 45 day mark.

We have been to DL countless times, this year we decided to save up and visit WDW from Aug 3 - 9. So much to do, so little time. If it goes as planed, we will do it again next year.

Joining in, going 8/26-9/2 :woohoo: Just waiting (impatiently!) for DH to decide where he wants to stay! Us, DS12 and DS8 :cool1:

Not sure if Ive posted already, but we're at BCV Aug. 16-21. Kids will be 16 & 13. First trip they were 9 & 6.

I posted on another August 2014 thread - got our tickets to MNSSHP this morning, my most favorite thing at WDW :banana: Going to the first party of the year Sept. 1st.

Anyone else?

We are going August 24-31. We are staying in a Cars suite at AOA and it will be our first time staying onsite. It will be myself, DH, DS (5 years old and a huge Cars fan), DS and DD (twins who will be 15 months). My inlaws who live across the country are also joining us. We usually only get to see them at Christmas so it will be a nice treat to spend a week with them in Disney World! :cool1:

DH and I will be at AKL Kadina and BWV from August 20-29th. Our first split visit and I am so excited...

Staying at AOA for first time 8/20-8/29... Added a day because flights were crazy with delta $1800 for four so moved to southwest 1000 for four but flight left home early so we added a day!!!!! Also my son 14 is an amazing artist and wants to be an animator and is so excited about going to AOA. Count down 97 days 11 hours 11 minutes 40 seconds

Finally completely decided and booked with the 30% off pin! We were originally booked in Pop Century, but added a third person and thought the queen sized beds would be nice since two would be sharing. I'm so excited! :cool1:

The queen beds are totally worth it!!!
