august 2013 codes for rental cars?

Has anyone seen a lower price for a minivan?
I have Tampa airport round trip Aug 10-17 - 8 day rental due to pick up and drop off times for a total of $370 including tax ($270 before tax)

Anything I have seen is higher than this even with alamo insider, AAA, etc

Thanks

I have an SUV on hold at Dollar for $335 from August 19-30 using the CAA code. The KLM code gave me a rate of $371

Has anyone checked Booking Buddy? I was able to book through their site and get an intermediate for $20.00 a day at Dollar, pick up MCO drop off Cape Canaveral.

I just booked directly with Dollar. A 9 day, 1 hour rental. 246.15 for a Standard car. I checked some codes but they all came in higher. I still hope to get this under $200 and think I should be able to by using Priceline the week before I go but I will keep this just in case.

Maybe a "mid" August rather than "late."

For a midsize (with the AD2338FDF coupon and Insiders pricing), my 8/3 10am to 8/12 6pm comes up as $447.77 while 8/10 10am to 8/19 6pm (exactly one week later) comes up as $301.66 for midsize.

Huh. I guess it's coming in on the 3rd that's the problem. 4th-13th gets the #301.66 price, too. Grrr.

I'm pretty much seeing the same thing. My dates are close to yours - 8/4-8/11. There's been a very, very small drop in Alamo over the past couple of weeks, but not much. There is a big crowd dropoff the second half of August, so I guess its not surprising the late August folks are doing better. We're still 5-6 weeks away, so there's plenty of time for things to change. I still think we'll see the best deals 1 to 2 weeks out, but we're going to have to look carefully and frequently in that window.

The one thing I'm finding surprising is people are getting really good deals MCO to some other place. Usually that kind of rental can be a lot higher. Go figure...

I used Budget BCD code X474200
I reserved it on January 2, 2013 and haven't seen it any lower than this

Been stalking for a bit, just looking to see what pricing people have gotten for rental cars.

I highly recommend Carrentalsavers.com. They are very reputable and check for discounts across all the major rental car companies, not only at mco, but at whatever location you input. I was able to secure a 12 day rental at dollar for 344...definitely down from the 560 originally quoted.

I know this has been debated many times on DIS but if you are willing to try the VROOM VROOM contract ID of 299851 and coupon code of AD2338FDF with Alamo, these seem to give me the best price thus far. $204.20 from 8/20 to 8/27 for Fullsize Impala with pickup and drop off at MCO. I'll continue to watch but this is the lowest so far. But I will surely have a back up reservation in case these codes get rejected for some reason. For those looking for minivan and standard SUV prices, they came out to 258.26 and 259.42 taxes in for the week just for a comparison. If anyone has successfully used the VROOM VROOM code recently, a quick reply would help us all out. Good luck all!

What is the debate about using that code? I tried it but I still have a better deal with Dollar, which went down a few dollars over night.

I'm just not willing to use a code that has been turned down. It's too risky and not the way I want to start my vacation. Alamo is only quoting me $256 for 2 more days that that. Sign in as an Alamo Insider, and use that coupon and it's pretty close to the same for me. Plus, you only have to rent a Standard car because all of the cars with Alamo at MCO are fullsize. So you can shave a few dollars off there by renting a standard. You'll get the same car.
Now this is for August 23rd to September 1st so my rates may be lower than yours for my dates. Right now Dollar and Enterprise are $10 cheaper than Alamo as well. I may switch to Alamo though and pay the extra $10 because we like picking our own car.

Totally agree! Bad idea to use codes you can't document. You may get past the exit gate, but, especially if you "find" a code that includes insurance, if you happen to be using some company's corporate code and get in an accident, I wish you luck...you'll need it.

In your case, I think you'll still likely get a better rate with Alamo. Last time I went to Orlando, I was holding an Enterprise rate for awhile, which didn't get much better, then Alamo dropped quite a bit about 10 days out.

Alamo dropped again this afternoon. I now have a Standard rental for 9 days, 1 hour for $235.52.
This is the 6 week out drop I saw last summer too. I am going to keep a close eye on it and see if I can't get it even lower.

Sorry, I'm joining this thread late. We just added a couple of days to our vacation and now we're starting our rental in August. :)
Could you tell me where the coupon AD2338FDF came from?

I don't have any car reserved yet and I'm getting a little nervous. I usually have one and just keep rebooking, but I haven't even done that (or made dining ressies - eek). I keep waiting for Alamo to send some coupons for rentals beginning after July, but haven't gotten any yet!!! Sigh.

I usually rent from National or Alamo. Alamo has beaten National the last couple of years, for us. We will be "wanting" a 7 passenger mini van or large SUV (5 adults sized people and luggage).

Looking forward to updates on this thread as deals get better. :thumbsup2

AD2338FDF is a Visa discount code:)

Just changed my reservation:rolleyes1. I switched to the Mastercard code.. because once I typed that above I realized I closed my Visa:rotfl:

So.. I used the Alamo Insiders Contract Code and the Mastercard free day code (AF2604JDN) and my new total is 235.18

THANKS!!! Booked it (minivan). Phew. Now just a waiting game to see if it drops. :cool1:

For the record:
Alamo, insider code, visa coupon AD2338FDF, 7 passenger mini-van. Aug 31-Sept14 (2 week + 1 day) = $703

Can you explain a little more for the codes used, etc? for Alamo is there an insider code or if you are signed up for it and sign into the website the insider discount is automatic added? If there is a code would you mind sharing what it is?

Also the AF codes you listed which box do they go into?

I am still getting over $500 for Tampa Aug 10-17, 2013 for a minivan, my budget code is still better

Thanks
