Hi, everyone! I think I've posted in this thread before, but it was a long time ago and I'm sure everything I had planned then has changed by now

We are at the 7 week mark for our trip and the planning is kicking into high gear! I'm excited to find such a hopping thread of people who are going to be down there at the same time!

To introduce myself...

I'm Heather. I've been to WDW/DL probably about 15 times, but the last time was 2005. So it's been WAY too long! My DS15 is Alex. He's been to WDW/DL 12 times, the last time in 2008 with my mom. I married my DH, Patrick, in 2007. He's been to WDW one time, way back in the early 1980s. So I'm considering this his first trip! And then there's our DD, Savannah, who will turn 4 a couple weeks after our trip. This is her first trip, obviously.

We will be at WDW from Aug 25-Sept 1, staying at the CBR. ADRs as follows (these have changed about 50 times, but I'm pretty sure this is the final version!)

Some of the prep I'm doing for the trip... Trying to find shoes that are comfy. Thought croc flip flops were the way to go, but I took an hour walk the other night and ended up with blisters on the sides of both big toes So then we went to the zoo and I tried my old reliable Tevas, but got a blister on the outside of my little toe So I think I'm going to try reefs or keens next. It was 100 degrees here in MN all week, so I tried taking walks every day to see how we'd do in the heat. DD had a frogg togg and fan/mister in her stroller, so she did fine. I, however, melted. Will definitely be working a/c or swim breaks into our WDW schedule!

I pre-ordered the photopass +/CD and got my package yesterday! Yay! So I have that voucher in a safe place with my other travel docs.

Looking forward to getting to know you all in the next few weeks! Should be easier now that I've figured out how to subscribe to a thread and get email notifications

Duh!! I spent all that time trying to resize each image in the graphic BUT I just realized when you go to print, you can go to print setting and change the percentage. I printed at 75% and it's the PERFECT size. AND it saved that way too so it will be all set for you to print it at the same size. (Hopefully!)

Sooooo, this is the final product. If you would like one, just tell me your first name and I will put in your screen name.

Trying to decide if it's better to email everyone the actual document or just save it as an image and pm that to you. Then you can make it whatever size you want. Hmm......

PERFECT! I love purple too and this purple and green looks lovely. I think we should just print on white paper in color mainly so we don't all have to go buy paper and hope they are the same color. Where can we lamenate? Someplace like Staples? Thanks for creating our badges! Oh my real name is Elizabeth. And since we might not all have the same fonts I think its best if you just changed and emailed the documents to us unless its a really common font.

POR is our favorite mod! The pictures don't do it justice~We're cking out of POP and cking into POR on the 23rd. We'll be requesting Alligator Bayou, as usual

Thanks! I really want to stay there but DH still wants to stay at AKL. He didn't realize we weren't staying in a room with a view. He wants a view of course, we can't afford that. But if we're staying another day to go to the Star Wars Celebration I think we should save some money and not stay at AKL. It's only a 200 difference but that 200 can be used for star wars tickets and another hotel stay. Coronodo is a hosting hotel for the Star Wars Celebration but the 'special' Star Wars rate is 3 dollars more than the current room special. lol

I love the Teva's but I also love Reef flip flops. DD and I both have 3 pairs and we live in them in the summer. Feels like you are walking on air. My feet never seem to get tired in these and I prefer them over sneakers. I know the general recommendation is not to wear flip flops for a lot of walking but I can't imagine wearing anything else!

I printed out two on white paper and glued them back to back. I was going to go somewhere to laminate but decided to try using packing tape and it actually came out pretty good! I might make another one so I can put one on each bag.

I had to do a separate res also. I have also heard that you can pick your tickets up 3 days early. I may call and ask. It is MUCH cheaper to add a day to my POR tickets than to pay for a day separately! We were just planning on swimming, DTD, and visiting family, but if I can sneak over to MK, I would love to do that!!

That would be a great way of do it. Otherwise we'll do the same: swimming, DTD, explore the resorts... But I'd love to go to MK if we can!

I'm down with wearing something that shows our Team August status.

Meanwhile I discovered tonight that Star Wars Celebration VI is happening in Orlando the 23-26th. The good wife that I am I shared with my DH even though I really don't want to go. He REALLY does though. So we may be extending our trip another day but it won't be at Disney. We'd have to find another hotel. But then if we do a Sun-Sun we can do a non-stop flight for same price as driving. To me its a no brainer but DH is afraid of flying (and he also has a medical condition which the medication lowers his immune system so he get sick easily, Disney is going to be hard enough but a plane? hrmm). If we still drive that means missing another day of work and my last vacation day of the year.

I guess I should be a good wife and just tolerate the Star Wars and driving. Though I think the extra day and then flying is a better trade off. I will survive a day of Star Wars to be able to fly instead of drive 40+ hrs. He put our dilemma on his facebook and I mentioned I am not a Star Wars fan and DH said he is not a Dumbo fan.

In other news....44 days!!!!! So excited!!! I may start a PTR just so I can quit bothering you all...

All that said, I would still be nervous about doing it and I am very hesitant about steering my client in that direction just in case it doesn't work.

It seems not all CMs are trained to do the uncommon things that actually CAN be done. This past October, I upgraded old one-day passes from 2009 to APs, used the one day ticket to enter the park and then headed straight to Guest Services to upgrade them. We were there for at least a 1/2 hour! At first they issued our APs with the expiration date as 2010! I'm like, how can this expire in 2010 when it's 2011!! So they had to reprint them and it took a few people to know exactly what to do. I thought that was a pretty common practice but I guess not!!

I think I'm too nervous to mess with it too... Sigh...guess I'll just have to spend the day swimming, shopping and drinking wine from a box...it's a hard knock life...

Wow, I spent the afternoon at the dentist (ugh!) and only have an hour to catch up before some girlfriends pick me up to go see Magic Mike (to make up for an afternoon at the dentists!).

I have been searching for a pic with the three of us in it but I can't seem to find one that I have uploaded.

Here is a pic of DD and I from last August. Just the two of us went last year and we had a GREAT time with it being just the girls...

Here is my DS who will be joining us this year. He is 6'3 when standing so he will be hard to miss lol....

I will be riding in a scooter due to a nursing back injury that prevents me from walking long distances. Three years ago, I lifted a patient from the ground that had fallen and managed to herniate 4 discs in my back. My neurosurgeon said that the bones in my spine were very weak from the rigors of practicing nursing for over 25 years hence the severe injury from something as simple as lifting someone. I have been debating about the surgery to attempt to correct this for the past 2 years but the risks involved with the surgery scare me to death. One of the discs are located in my neck, very close to the brain stem and none of the three surgeons I have consulted can guarantee that it will work. I walk with a rather significant limp and as I said, can't manage anything more than a short walk at any given time. Thankfully, my nursing career at this point has navigated to management so walking is not a big part of my day. Had I been unable to secure my current position I would have been forced to leave nursing completely. Last year I attempted to walk the first 2 days of our trip. I refused to allow my injury to prevent us from visiting our favorite place on earth! By the morning of the 3rd day I was completely crippled. We lost the 3rd day of our trip because I was bedridden. My doctor wasn't happy that I even attempted it when I called him so he could phone in pain medication to the pharmacy and he made me promise to find an alternate means of getting around or go home. Needless to say I ended up renting a scooter and it was my savior (and my DD's because she would have been extremely disappointed had we had to leave) for the rest of our time there. I realize now that it's either the scooter or we just can't go..... so the scooter it is! (as much as I hate having to use it )

you poor thing! I had 2 herniated discs last year and it hurt like nothing I've ever experienced (including 24 hours is back labour!). Take care of yourself! I might be in a scooter by the end myself for the same reason. We can be scooter buddies!
