I just read the 1st page of your PTR (sorry, I didnt read any other entries~might have to do w/ my short attention span:rotfl: so please dont take it personal. Quite an adventure you and your daughter have had thus far in this crazy thing called life. I admire your strength:flower3:. Our DDs our the same age, btw...beginning HS:crazy2::rolleyes:

I am very happy you stopped over to my ptr!!! Yep, you know the saying "that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger" well, I'm a freaking cement baracade now!! :rotfl:

OMG!!! A freshman in high school. I just can't believe it.....after all I'm (cough) only 29 (cough, cough!!) :sad2:

Meanwhile I have a question for Teva flip flop fans. After reading some reviews it seems like Teva has changed their flip flops on the Mush II and now they are narrower and less support. I can get the 'original' ones on the Teva website at full price but they are backordered until 8/14 which cuts it very close to my trip (leaving 8/18) or I can get the Mush II from pretty much anywhere else for less. Thoughts? I would have never thought flip flops would be supportive enough for all that walking but I'm willing to try them.

I was able to buy the originals at DSW for $24 something. Also did you try Amazon?

We're headed to MK on our first day, 8/20, too - even though it's a RED DAY!

On our last couple of trips, we've done MK later in the trip, and we've always been so tired by that point that we haven't been able to enjoy it as much. We know that this means MK will be busier than if we waited until later in the trip, but we wanted to start our vacation in MK while we're still fresh. And like you said NightAngelX, hopefully this just means that on the rest of our days it will feel like there are no crowds at all! (Or something like that) :thumbsup2

You guys are WAY braver than I am, God bless ya's!!

Meh - it's not too scary for us. The last time we were in MK was Christmas week and the crowd (per touringplans) was a 9.7! So a nice, "busy" 6 in August sounds great!!

Ok, since I want everyone of TEAM AUGUST to say hi to us if you see us, here is a picture so you all don't really think I look like the pink princess Mickey ears.....

We will definitely be on the lookout for you guys. We'll be at CBR around the same time!

Here's Tom and me!

Although, most often I have my sunglasses on so this is more like what we'll look like.....

I just found this thread yesterday and am up to reading page 72, but figured I better post soon! :) we're going Aug. 25-Sept 1 at POR. I can't wait! It'll be my first time staying on site and my 3rd time to the WDW (1st was for one day during honeymoon, 2nd was 1 day during a trip with my extended family who are NOT Disney folk!) So to stay on site for an entire week?! I'm in heaven planning for it! DS6 and DD4 are almost excited as I am!
We're taking DH's parents for their 40th anniversary and DH's brother's family and sister and her husband are coming along too, so it'll be 13 of us. I'll post our ADR's shortly (after I read more of this thread).

My customizable maps came today! They are beautiful. I feel like I should frame them. I love that they have our last name on them and they are just really nice quality. Love them!!!:cloud9:

Meanwhile I've been thinking of switching to POR...I know I know seems silly to downgrade but I just really love all the pictures I see of that place. I love animals too though so AKL seems perfect but we won't have a view so dunno. Hrmm...not going to do anything yet just thinking about it today.

Oh and here is us if you see us in the parks 20-24th!

DH has new glasses and might be different versions of shaven but I always seem to look the same...cept I might be redder....silly heat activates my rosacea.

Go for it! I did. I have an EPCOT-themed office (go figure!) and after our last trip I requested personalized maps indicating all of the attractions we had actually seen. I framed the EPCOT map and the full-resort map. They look great!

:)

Here are our adrs. We don't have one booked for every day because we want to be more laid back...we don't mind trading 1 TS for a QS or making dinner plans with what is open the morning of...so against what we normally do, but we'll be there 3 times this year :cheer2: and I am okay trying something different. All of these restaurants are new to us! We may also try to book the Spirit of Aloha show, which I haven't done since I was young. DH is concerned for the heat...any thoughts?

8/14: No meal adr. Boys have 4:30 barbershop appointments to get the cut and the ever favorite Mickey head...not so much gel on top...that hurt to get out last time!

8/15: no adrs
8/16: Via Napoli, 4:30
8/17: The Turf Club Bar and Grill, 6:20
8/18: Fantasmic package at Hollywood and Vine 5:05 (likely to be cancelled so we can go Monday when there are evening emh at DHS
8/19: Cape May Cafe, 5:15
8/20: Fantasmic package at Hollywood and Vine, character lunch, 3:20

So we're driving (22 hours, ugh) and thought we should try to get to Orlando Friday night so we can check into POR 1st thing Sat. And then go to the parks, that way we don't waste a day. We thought a cheap off-site hotel but I just had the brain wave to check out Disney prices for value resorts. All star music is almost as cheap as off-site! So DH (love him) said why don't we stay there? And maybe even for 2 nights? So our 7 night stay may turn into 9!

Has anyone does this and how hard is it to change hotels? Do we have to check completely out? Do they help with luggage?

So excited!

we are still going but changed are dates. we will be there room only on aug 24th then start fd on the 25th through the 3rd and may add a room only till the 4th

Yeah! Be sure to stop by the Florida Welcome center on your way down for free orange juice...sooo yummy!
We have done a split stay. It gets tricky if you have the dining plan. Otherwise, they will move your bags to the next hotel for you...you just need to be prepared to be without those bags for several hours. Since you will have a car, you may just want to drive them over to the next hotel and leave them when you check in. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get into our 2nd room at 9 am but then we were stuck without our bags until almost 3 pm.

I feel like we should make some sort of tag or something to make ourselves recognizable to each other as members of this group! I might be able to find some old lime green mickey heads but maybe we should make a design just for our group or something!! Just thinking aloud!

Thats exactly what we are doing. 2 nights at all star music and 6 at AKL. AS far as I know, you pack(I dont unpack so NBD) and call bell services and they come get your stuff and you head to parks for the day and return to check in at new resort and your bags are brought up (after 4)

I am not sure if you have to go to desk and check out though. Hadnt thought about it.

Love it! I'll see what I can pull together too.

That's great to hear! I was dreading moving everything. Anyone know if free dining is available to Canadians prior to Aug. 25? I think initially it was, but that may ave changed.

I'm going to have to change my countdown wall! :)
