What is your favourite Disney Park and why??

It's a toss up between 2 parks...Epcot and MK. I love Epcot because I love the WS, Soarin, Spaceship Earth, TT (which isn't opened right now :sad2:), and of course Illuminations. I love MK because well it is MK (love all the rides, the nostalgia of the park, Wishes, the Dapper Dans, the Mayor of MS USA, etc...). There is nothing like going down Main Street USA and heading towards the Castle. I always get a tingly feeling inside whenever I am in that park :goodvibes.

Favorite Park? I dont think I could say one is my fav. I love them all for different reasons. MK we have in the past 2 trips spent more time at but more for the kids but this trip we are doing 2 EP, MK and DHS days and one AK. There are rides and attractions in each that I love, MK has the "DIsney" feel, maybe it has a bit more Magic then the others, but just a bit.

I have to admit I am incapable of choosing a favorite park. I love them all equally and passionately. I get the same giddy feeling no matter if I am at AK or at MK.

What I do have is some favorite parks at specific times of the day. There is nothing like Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning or an afternoon touring World Showcase but I LOVE the vibe of DHS at night. Can't really pinpoint why but there is something very special about it. Maybe it has something to do with the lighting and the music. All I know is that I can never get enough of it.

Epcot and Magic Kingdom are my favs. Epcot was the first park we visited on my very first trip to the world so it holds special meaning. But I cry everytime I walk on to Main Street in MK LOL

77 Days !!! :flower3:

My fave parks are tied b/t EPCOT and the MK. I love EPCOT naturally bc I'm a historian/archaeologist and the countries in the WS just top everything off for me, Illuminations is my favorite nighttime show and Test Track is my fave ride. MK is my other fave bc it just embodies everything that Walt envisioned. My vacation isnt "real" until I walk down main street smelling popcorn and see that Castle in front of me.:thumbsup2

Ok, my favorite park and why?

Ok, we are gonna enter sappy land. I am a crier when I go into MK and start walking up Main Street. I never look up until I am actually on the street and past the circle. Then I look up and stop to stare at the Castle. I have always ended up in tears as an adult. Then I look at my kids to see there reaction. The way they light up at the site is awesome.

Now I also will say I love Epcot, but it is for such a different reason. Mk has my emotional side but Epcot has my stomach side. The food, yes the food.

My kids, they only have eyes for Epcot, they love it. (We love all the parks, but we still have our favorites).

I am a MK castle crier too lol:thumbsup2

From what I remember as a kid, it was Epcot. I have a love for figment, world travel and secretly love a few good drinks so I think it will stay as epcot

I would have to say MK and Epcot. We went to Dl for our honeymon so that is why the MK is special to me. Epcot I saw when they were still building it.

59 days for us, less then 2 months. Its going so fast, I started counting down at 145 days, lol. I wanted to do a 60 days til Disney party but we had Yds birthday so Ill start planning my big 50 days til Disney party. Not sure of the theme yet but need to start figuring it out.

Can I ask a question today?
If you have gone to Disney before, do you typically travel in August? What has your experience been in summer with crowd and what do you like about August trips? If you havent, why August 2012?

I've gone twice before, and both trips were in August. For us it works out because my son is in camp or away with his grandparents until the last week of August. And living in NY, school still hasn't started yet. Plus, better room rates and free dining help! Crowd-wise, I have nothing to compare it to, since I haven't been any other time of year. However! I lived in NYC for years, and still live nearby, and crowds are REALLY not my thing. Times Square is my worst nightmare. And I honestly have never felt like that at DW. I was able to manage the ride going with out waiting in long lines, and we got to do everything we wanted, so for me the crowds seem low.

I like the discounts, the free food, the low crowds and going back to the resort to rest/swim at the hottest part of the day. 80 more days!

When we go, we will only be in August for a couple of days, the main part of our stay is in September (our favorite month to go in). I picked leaving in August because we are taking our kids out of school (please no flames :flower3:) and since it is so early in the year (we leave the day after they go back, don't ask me why it just happened that way), I knew that they weren't going to miss too much of the learning part....they don't do anything the first week of school and the second week they are only missing 4 days due to Labor Day weekend. This is going to be the last time that we are taking my kids out of school since DD11 is heading to Jr. High, so we thought it would be easier on her if we left in August.

We have never gone before and August is when we typically take a vacation. We wil be gone from home 15 days and cannot justify taking 4 kids out of school that long (Nova Scotia schools start the first week of September). 2012 is because I wanted to go when my son as old enough to remember and appricate the trip, he is 6 and 48.5 inches....seemed like the perfect timing.

This will be our third trip in the last week of August.
We have also been in September, May and February.

Late August works well for us for several reasons. It the easiest time of year for dh and I to get vacation time. Other weeks are possible but they require more planning and provide less time off. We can get up to two week in the end of August.
The kids are out of school which is becoming more important for my high schooler.
DISCOUNTS. Free dining, renting points, higher room only discounts , value season and Y.E.S tickets to chose from... I'll take that any day!!

Crowds.. They get pretty low once most southern states head back to school. I don't do high crowd levels and long lines.

Is it hot and humid? VERY. But all of the other factors make it such a great time to go that we deal with it and plan for the heat. Drink lots of water, absolutely take an afternoon break, and plan to tour in the mornings and evenings and you can have a wonderful trip!

As a family we have gone in December and in April. This is our first trip in August. We chose Aug 22-26 due to it being right before school starts (which starts Aug 27). It would be nice to have free dining but that doesn't start until Aug 25 and it would be nice to get the bigger discount on the room. POFQ only gets a 5%. So we saved around $70.

As to the heat, it really doesn't bother us and the crowds shouldn't be too bad.

Our last two trips to Orlando have both been in January. The first was the second week in January, DS was in grade 7, and we were OK with him missing a week of school. Trip 2 was the first week of January this year and coincided with the second week Christmas break for our DS, who is now in grade 10 (and not willing to miss any school time).

The first trip crowds were super low but weather was up and down temperature wise (hardly any rain, though).

2nd trip saw far larger crowds (it was still Christmas break for many, apparently) and again, weather was hugely variable as far as warmth (shorts and t's at one point, winter coats another).

Both trips we wanted to do waterparks and visit the beach and both didn't work out.

We always take a summer trip somewhere, and just for the heck of it, I priced out Orlando. It was cheaper than Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, even after factoring in flights. Got a great deal on airfare, a fantastic deal on a resort, and booked it. DS misses no school (unless a hurricane delays our return home :scared1:) and we plan to visit Aquatica, Wet & Wild, Discovery Cove and at least Cocoa Beach (maybe Daytona too). No worries about "cold" on this trip! (though I'm terrified to see what happens to my hair in the humidity......doh! :headache:).

Weve gone in March,April,May,June,July,August and October. So I guess theres really no "typical" time for us:goodvibes. We had to choose August this year because my son is taking an extra college course through the Summer, so it was either August or not at all!

I like August alot! Although hot, it's doable as long as you pace yourself-for example, we dont stay in a park all day long:eek: We take nice long breaks by our resort pool and have a nice lunch in an air-conditioned restaurant and maybe even a nappy:) and then we'll go back to parks at night when its a little cooler and we've rested. We've been there enough to know what our "must-do's" are so we dont do commando touring anymore.

August is one of my favorite times to go because of the lower crowds and lower resort pricing. Unfortunately, we missed FD by 1 week:rolleyes:

I know I'm really late to the party but I just found this thread last night.

We'll be at WDW from August 3rd thru August 13th. Staying offsite in a rental condo. We've been planning this trip for over 2 years and have just made some major changes due to almost half of our group having to cancel.

Less than 2 months to go now and I'm really getting excited! :cool1:
