I am really not trying to be the odd man out. Honest.

We are visiting two waterparks for the first time :cool1:......but not Disney ones.

We will be at Aquatica at least two days (both days with a cabana rented) and plans are to visit Wet & Wild once. We are big waterpark fans, but have never visited an Orlando one as both previous trips were during the month of January. Super excited about Aquatica.....Commerson dolphins + Roa's Rapids = :cloud9: .

Would love to visit Typhoon Lagoon someday. Blizzard Beach's theming just doesn't appeal to me.

If I'm not careful and don't have better answers on this August thread, the rest of you are going to banish me to my own corner of the Disboards :guilty: .

We don't do the water parks at this time. DD (9) is an ok swimmer and DS(5) doesn't know how to swim at all. Once both of them are good swimmers then we will try the water parks.

Can I ask a question today?
If you have gone to Disney before, do you typically travel in August? What has your experience been in summer with crowd and what do you like about August trips? If you havent, why August 2012?

We've gone twice before both times in September. 1st trip was our honeymoon, Sept 12th - 19th and the 2nd was for our sons second birthday September 7th - 12th.
This time we chose August because 2 of the kids going are in school and we didn't want them to miss any school days and because my DH just took a new job on August 1st of last year and we had to wait until after he'd been there a year so he could take his vacation week.

Okay I'll bite.....

QOTD: Do you visit the waterparks while at WDW, if so which one do you prefer and why?

We've never been to either of the water parks. DH wore leg braces as a child and because of that never learned to swim so he doesn't have much interest in going to the water parks. I may go to one or both this year though since my DN loves the water and so do I. We're waiting until we get there to decide though.

We LOVE Wet N Wild!!! One of our favorite places in the world to go!

Ok, so I believe I missed answering yesterdays QOTD: Have you ever gone before in August?

Yes, Yes we have. All I can say is no makeup, drinks, and weight loss. I don't wear makeup much anyway (check :) ), I can do drinks of any kind (check :goodvibes ), and weight loss (priceless :thumbsup2 ). Been there then, going back for more. We have also done many other months, check my signature out for exact months (I can't remember :confused3 ).

Today's QOTD: Waterparks yeah or nay?

We don't typically do water parks. When I went with my parents when younger, we did River Country. Loved that place!!!
We have gone to TL but that was a long time ago.
A) I hate bathing suits (or at least me in one ewwww :lmao: no one wants to see that)
B) The kids for a long time hated water (should have seen bath time, so not fun! )
C) Not cost effective for us. Would rather spend money on parks and if necessary, swim at resort pool.(This only happened starting on our last trip, before that, the kids never even asked for pool time)

Those are my answers and I am sticking to them.

Gina I am really looking forward to your wet n wild review because as I mentioned my guys are water park fanatics!!
We have AP's for Universal so if reviews are favourable I might suggest they go on one of these trips!!:)

I love hearing your offsite answers. I love Disney, but we are really interested in trying some new things too!

We LOVE Wet N Wild!!! One of our favorite places in the world to go!

My guys are big slide fanatics. The bigger the wedgie :scared1: the better in their book. Wet & Wild will be for them......sounds like it will offer more thrills than Aquatica. We may not be able to spend a full day there (so much to do on vacation, so little time!), but they have a great deal on afternoon tickets ($25 pp). Hopefully we'll at least get a few hours to check out the highlights :thumbsup2 .

Oh, Gina Bo Bina, we LOVE YOU!!!! You are part of Team August, after all!!! Here are your hugs!!

Aw, shucks  . I am soooo feelin' the love! :cloud9: And this is why I like hangin' out with you guys. You're good for the soul.

I will try and get lots of pics, just for you pigletto! :) (hey, you haven't changed your resort reservations in a few days.........that has to be some sort of new record, isn't it? :lmao: just kidding.....I just couldn't resist)

I have never been in August before. Prior to my marriage I've been in June, December, February and April. We got married on September 18th in 2010 and brought my daughter to Disney for our honeymoon, so it's now a tradition to go late summer. We went in September last year, too. This year Victoria will be a freshman and she didn't want to miss any school, so we opted for the latest time we could --- we return the night (10:30pm) before school starts!! We are cutting it close, for sure! I've read that it's going to be hot, so I think I'm prepared for that, but for us the big draw is LOW CROWDS. All of us dislike crowds, so a low crowd time of the year is a must. Free Dining doesn't hurt, either!!! :rolleyes1

Interesting that you say low crowds since I was told and crowd predictors reflect HIGH CROWDS:eek: Is it later in the month? Is that where the big variance is from? We couldnt go late in Aug with DH schedule so we are going on the 3rd. I am hoping lower crowds but prepared for higher. We are used to may where crowds arent bad.

Posted here quite a while ago! Here's my big catch up to all the QOTD so far!!

What resort/hotel did you choose and why??

Indian Creek house with pool – DH had just come home from a 10 month deployment on a ship in late January and although I printed out info/pics/costs for the cabins at FW, 2 values (did that on June 2010 trip) and AoA, he chose the home off property. Probably shouldn’t have asked him at the end of an extended deployment where he shared a tiny room! :lmao:

Park Hoppers vs No Park Hoppers --- What do you do and why??

Until this trip, we’ve always had military tickets and it was cheap to add PH. This trip we’re going with YES tickets (my 10 yr old is taking a class) and we have PH’s as well. We like being able to start in one park and end in another if we feel like it. I love hitting 3 of the 4 parks on our last day to visit just the favorites one last time.

Do you venture off property to shop during your vacation?

Even when we've stayed off site, we've only gone to Target or Walmart or Walgreens to pick up something we may have forgotten or snacks.

Do you purchase the DDP, if so which one do you purchase?

We’ve done QS once in the past. I didn’t think it was an exceptional value but it was really convenient. Not sure what we would have done this trip if we were on property.

What ride/show/activity are you most excited for this trip?

Taking my 5 yr old (he’ll be 6 in 10 days) on Expedition Everest. He’s still too short for the coasters at Busch Gardens Williamsburg where we have annual passes and he’s just itching to go on a big coaster! I'm also excited for my 10 yr old going to the YES class (Ocean Discoveries)

What are your arrival day plans?

Pick up YES tickets and go somewhere! No real plans yet because we just did a local move (not by choice - we were leasing from a military family that got orders back here just as our lease was up but we got extended here for another year!) and are finally down to just 1 house!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WDW TS RESTAURANT?

We all love Chef Mickey’s!

How do you respond to the bah humbuggers who try to ruin your excitement with a reminder about the weather such as how hot it is or how it is hurricane season?

I could just stay home and sit in the heat and wait to see if a hurricane is coming my way!

What ADR are you most excited about???

I haven’t made any ADR’s yet. Will probably make 1 but not sure where.

What do you tell people who ask "Didn't you just go to Disney {X} months ago?"

I’ve heard “you’ve been there 3 times, why are you going again?” I usually respond with “You’ve been to the beach/camping/Las Vegas/wherever “X” times, why are you going again?”

What is your favourite Disney Park and why??

Magic Kingdom ~ while I enjoy the other parks, this one truly makes me feel like a kid again. (Probably because it was the only park open when my parents took us when I was 6 and again at age 8, LOL!)

If you have gone to Disney before, do you typically travel in August? What has your experience been in summer with crowd and what do you like about August trips? If you havent, why August 2012?

We’ve done Columbus Day week in October, last week of January and 3rd week of June. June was most crowded out of all. This year we’re going in August because we have other activities in late June, July and early August. (Soccer camps, visit family out of state, family visiting us) School starts the day after Labor Day. Can’t take my boys out of school because they are so ridiculous here. The high school & middle school are on block scheduling. My oldest missed 3 days this year (1 sick, 1 family wedding, 1 doctors appt with note) and I got a letter stating he had excessive absences. :sad2:

Do you visit the waterparks while at WDW, if so which one do you prefer and why?
Last trip we did both waterparks and enjoyed them. We didn’t do full day. We arrived between 1 & 2 for both. My youngest was still too short for a lot so my husband did the big stuff with the older ones while I was with the youngest.

What is your favorite attraction in each park??
Magic Kingdom – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Epcot – Test Track
Hollywood Studios – Toy Story Midway Mania
Animal Kingdom – Expedition Everest
