We are staying at ASMU...mainly for budget reasons....it is our first time and I do not anticipate us speanding a lot of time at the resort, and with the summer discount code this resrt was the most sense money wise (7 people 2 rooms)

I am sure you and your family are going to love ASMU, we haven't personally stayed there before, but to know that you are staying on Disney property immersed in the Disney Magic 24/7...well there is nothing like it, no matter which resort you are staying in :goodvibes.

I just got an email from United Airlines that they have changed our flight schedule for our flight down. We originally were suppose to leave O'Hare by 6:30am and be in MCO by 10:00am. Now they have changed it to the plane taking off at 9:00am and us getting into Orlando by 12:35pm (barring any setbacks). I am a tad bummed that we aren't going to be arriving before noon, however, we will still be able to have lunch at Kona Cafe and then head to Epcot. I was so excited to find that early of a flight (direct too) for our arrival day. Oh well, the good thing is we will be at our Happy Place, just 2 hours later :sad2::goodvibes. Sorry just had to share.

We started off at ASMu, we were going to have our first stay in a family suite (our group includes me, my wife, 2 kids, and my mother-in-law).

But after we saw the media preview of Art of Animation, we just couldn't resist. We checked the prices and it was a (relatively) small upgrade, so we went for it! My DS4 looooves Cars, and since I'm not sure how quickly we can get out to DLR for CarsLand, I think staying at AoA in a Cars suite will have to be a good substitute!

Booked the flight this afternoon - that was the last step, since everything else is/was refundable :yay:
August 7 - 14 -- if the weather plays nice

Question of the day.. What resort/hotel did you choose and why??

ASMu this time around. Originally booked off-site due to a few 'curve balls' that lowered our budget. But, with the summer discount, not having to pay for parking, and a rather fat VisaReward balance, it made more sense to stay in-World. So, ASMu it was, since that was the resort offered. DH agreed that it wasn't really worth the extra to stay at CBR (again - stayed there twice), and we've never stayed at any of the All Stars.
So.... it's off to a new adventure, which has been in the planning since late last fall :dance3:

Question of the day.. What resort/hotel did you choose and why??

We were originally booked at CBR but changed to POR because I wanted to try something different. We are staying in one of the new Royal Guest Rooms. Although we don't spend that much time in the room, I am looking forward to the extra magic the room appears to offer. POR looks beautiful! My kids are older (23 and 17) but they are super excited about this trip. When we are home we get so busy with work, school and all our responsibilities. To have 8 days together in the world is a true blessing!

I think we have decided on going to EoS for our arrival QS! We are staying at POR so it'll just be a nice relaxing boat ride to DTD after a 9 hour flight! :cool1:

I also love this idea. I would love to start chatting it up with my August buddies! Go Team August!

Well, I'm staying at the Carribean Beach Resort from August 17th through August 28th. Why did I choose it? You know....I'm not sure. I've stayed at both POR and POFQ and wanted something different. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED both of those resorts, but I think it was the hammocks on the beach that won me over. I know we can't swim in the lake but I love the idea of being at the beach. I'm from Maine and I love to go to the ocean, so maybe I am hoping it will feel the same. Who knows, right? I'm sure I will love it. It doesn't take much to impress me. I am secretly hoping to be upgraded to a pirate room, but since my daughter is 14 and not really into pirates, it doesn't matter at all! Just to be able to go to Disney itself is enough pixie dust for me! :goodvibes Would you believe I'm already thinking about what resort to stay at next year??!! :lmao: Right now it's between POP and AofA. I will hopefully be booking the bounceback offer (if there is one) so I do need to decide on a resort. We all know it's set in stone after it's decided on, right? Any comments on that one Pigletto??? :rotfl2:

.... I am determined to see the ocean (for the first time) this trip!

OMG!!! You've never been to the ocean?! I just can't imagine that! We take a drive to the ocean almost every weekend. There is nothing like the smell of the ocean or the sounds of the waves coming in....heaven!

I love POR  . Beautiful resort. We stayed there in 2009 and fell in love with the lushness of Alligator Bayou.

We had stayed in the Mansion section of this resort. That, too, is absolutely beautiful!

Our very pampered cat will have a hard enough time with our 8 nights away.......she would most certainly give us the silent treatment for weeks if we leave her any longer :snooty:

I know all about those silent treatments! We have 3 very spoiled cats who do NOT like us to leave them. The dog goes to a kennel for the duration of the trip and my Mom usually comes over to feed & check in on the other animals.....(3 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 5 rabbits, and 3 hamsters.....) :cool1:

:lmao::rotfl:

Yep. You get one choice and that's it.
Honestly, I am thinking they might just want to give me my own line when I call Disney. They could answer with "Hi Pigletto, Where can we make today's reservation for you?" and end the call with "Ok Great! We'll talk to you tomorrow!":rotfl:

Thank goodness I have all of you to blabber at because my family is basically done. I think at this point as long as they have a bed and a bathroom somewhere on Disney property they could care less. Alot of eye rolling around here:rotfl:

Geez, and here I thought that was only happening in my house!!! :rotfl2:

I still haven't booked :rotfl2: We are going from the 19th until the 1st. I wanna stay at POP, POR, and ASMo.. but can't decide. I may end up doing a 3 way split. I gave myself through this weekend to finally book. I like them all so much.

I will be traveling with my son who is 9 and Autistic and my daughter who is 7 and a princess (Don't believe it ask her she will tell you.... And yes i'm dreading the teenage years with her) My husband and oldest son have to work. We are meeting up with 3 different sets of friends while there. :goodvibes

I love the idea of getting to know one another thanks so much for starting it here :goodvibes

Nope, this will be a first for me and I'm SOOOOO excited!!!

To drive to the ocean from our home would take....uh.....a long, long time. Lots and lots of lakes around here but we're nowhere near an ocean.

DH has already had "the experience" as he did disaster relief many moons ago in Montserrat after Hurricane Hugo. DS went to Vancouver with a friend in summer 2010 so he's had the chance to swim in the Pacific. Its just me who's been patiently waiting for the chance to dip my toes in the ocean water.

Could you please update me on the list? I am now staying at the BWI from Aug 23-30! I can't wait!!!! Finally got a good pin :)

Wow! I have lived 10 minutes from the ocean my entire life so cannot imagine not being near it! What beach are you planning to visit? We plan to stop at Daytona Beach for a day on our way home! Cannot wait to see how warm the water is.....we ae in Nova Scotia and the water is COLD, but refreashing in the summer....mind you my 6 year old went in last weekend :scared1: I wouldn't even dip my toe in!

Oh my, you had me laughing so hard I almost spit coffee all over my laptop :rotfl:.. Disney must know my name and phone number by heart and the CMs are probably all fighting over who has to pick up my call...they are saying "oh look it's PoohsFan1, I wonder what part of her reservation she wants to change or request now". I would love to see my Disney call log from the last 8 years :rotfl2:

Yep, same here....my family can take so much before the eyes start rolling or I get a "there goes mom again talking about Disney". I have an 11 and 8 year old girls who for the most part tolerates me more then DH does, but I know it still gets kind of old with them. This is why I love the DIS and threads like these, because everyone knows else goes through the same thing like me :goodvibes.

Question of the day.. What resort/hotel did you choose and why??

Staying for the first time at the Poly. Last two trips were with DGP so we stayed off site. I said when we go back we are staying at a resort, the kids liked the fact that the monorail stopped at the Poly. This and the fact that you can see the fireworks from the beach pretty much sealed the deal. However, I think the water slide influenced the kids. :rotfl2:

While we enjoyed the POR and would stay again, we are a family of five and outgrew the double beds on our last stay there.

Question of the day.. What resort/hotel did you choose and why?(great idea!)
We chose AKL this trip for 6 nights then decided to add 2 more nights at ASmusic so it was a bit less expensive(2 nights was close to one at AKL.) We have always wanted to stay at AKL, love to look and feel of it and enjoy Boma for dinner. It was less cost then other deluxe resorts hich was a bonus.

What beach are you planning to visit? We plan to stop at Daytona Beach for a day on our way home!

Looks like this trip will be Cocoa Beach. My DS is dying to visit the Ron Jon Surf Shop. :) Depending on the weather, we might be able to squeeze in a short trip to Daytona as well.

Gina, I am telling you now you will LOVE it. There's nothing else like it:)

Yep, Ginny Lynn......I'm in Maine...You can stay in the ocean for about 5 minutes before turning blue from frostbite!! :lmao: Ok, maybe it's not THAT bad, but I wouldn't venture more than a toe in the Atlantic in this area before August!!! I still love the smells and sounds, though. I even love those darned seagulls!!!!

Have fun in Daytona. I remember going in the ocean there once and thought it was a bathtub as far as temperature!
