OMG! We are SOOO excited!!!
DH and I are going to spring the SURPRISE on our boys TOMORROW MORNING! I can't believe we have managed to keep this trip a secret for so many months...

Our trip to POFQ 8/25 - 9/1 is smack dab in the middle of our boys' 8th and 11th birthdays, so we are wrapping up a GIANT gift box for each for them to open . Outside will be an "Invitation" for them to CELEBRATE their brother's birthday... on 8/25....at.... then they will open the box and have balloons fly out (Mickey Mouse, too, of course!) with a whole bunch of Disney stuff inside.

Now, if they don't absolutely go BANANAS, it will be a huge let-down, of course... DH has been planning this surprise for MONTHS, and wants them to, as he delicately puts it, "absolutely lose their $%&!"

We made our first trip to DW last Christmas and FELL. IN. LOVE!!! None of us has been able to stop talking about it since we got home. When the Free Dining promotion came up again, we jumped on it! Wish us luck (and a little pixie dust!)!

I cannot wait to hear about their reaction. Hopefully you will get it on video.

It may take a few moments to sink in but I bet they will be thrilled.
We surprised our kids in 2010 and it honestly could not have gone better. We just did it around the supper table a few days before the trip. We had told them we were going camping and talked about camping for a few weeks.
They were ok to go, but not really thrilled with the idea.. especially since we kept talking about how hot it would be and how it might rain the whole time (Didn't want them too excited!)

So we shared with "good news and bad news". They thankfully chose the bad news first (they always do).
Bad News.."We've decided it isn't the right time for us to go camping"
My then 6 year old .. "That's ok you guys.. we can have fun at home"(he's such a doll).

Well the good news is..."We leave for Disney the day after tomorrow". There was about 30 seconds of silence, as their faces contorted and they looked at eachother, then back at us..

And then shouting and squealing and laughter and actual happy tears from both of them!!!!

I wish I had filmed it but really didn't think to. It's one of my best memories ever.

My kids (DD16 and DS14) think we are going to Lake George. I even showed them the cabins we are "staying" in. We plan on telling them the night before we leave and only because I know my son will want to go through his pins and only bring ones he is willing to trade.

LOVE THIS!!! i wish i could see the reactions. Sometimes i go on youtube and type in disney world surprise. haha i am a nerd i know but it brings so much joy! I mean it is the happiest place on earth....and every video makes me cry! haha Hope their reactions are everything you and DH hoped for and more!

I need to go check out youtube. I never thought of looking for surprise videos.

I just booked the Mermaid makeover today for my DD! Stoked as I was worried about it. It's a little over 50 days out and I wanted 9:30am as we are going for a 10:20am CRT ressie! That morning will be all about characters. We start with the Mermaid makeover - then if she's done in time, we go to meet Ariel first. Then CRT, then the Princesses again, then Mickey and Minnie. I like to go to the official meets for good Photopass pics.

I'm getting Photopass+ and should get good use out of it! I'm organizing a Photopass share on FB to defray some of the costs of it - and even hoping to find folks going about the same time to do a Photopass+ share! I think it could work but there haven't been a lot of +shares yet.



I'm glad to hear a solid review on Teppan Edo. I'm a bit worried about our ressie there and keep wavering. That said, it will be our first time at a hibachi grill although we go for sushi buffets regularly.

Sounds like a great day planned. I was thinking about getting the PhotoPass +, but am not sure it is worth the money, even at the discounted pre-purchase price.

i like the idea of the photo pass + but since hubby got the new camera I'll have a hard time buying it. Who know though, I may change my mind when the kids go with us again. I get a good laugh because I will have been there at least 3 times before they go back. Mean mom--huh?

You should seen their faces! We decorated SiL's house with mickeys everywhere, yelled surprise and gave them cards good for a trip to Disney. They were like, yes we need to talk about this... So serious! Until MiL nudged FiL and pointed to the "All expenses paid" line in the cards! Poor guys!

The next day (after it sunk in) FiL cried thanking us, saying its something parents should do for their kids, not the other way around. So sweet!

As for all the surprises, I am going crazy...thanks to the DIS and being able to talk to my daughter about it I have managed to keep it from my son for a month now.....still have 47 days to go. All the questions I'm asking about what he would like to do, where he wants to eat, etc...he thinks is just my neurotic planning ahead for next year

The plan is mom/son trip, going to have my sister drive us to the airport with DD but DS will think we're just all going to dinner. As we hit the exit for the airport we're going to tell him. I'm hoping this works out well, he's always said he wanted to be suprised like the kids in the commercials so that's what he's gonna get.

I'm sure it'll work out great!

No more questions of the day? It was fun!

I am now really in prep mode and waking every day with butterflies! I cant believe how close I am.

I am making the boys invitations to Pirates League(they will be surprised) does anyone have any ideas of wording? I could use help on it please and thanks. I have to get their shirts and costumes done this week
I will have DS make mousekeeping envelopes later.

In 49 days we will be checking into the Polynesian ....still haven't received our ME docs yet, but everyday I or the DDs anxiously go out to the mailbox in hopes that we will see that Magical packet . I have also ordered my kids new crocs for our trip too and have begun shopping for the little stuff that I know I will forget later. I have been excited about this trip for a long time, but now I am getting even MORE excited .

We plan on hangin out at Pop for a little while, having lunch at AoA. Then we're hopping the Epcot bus for dinner at TeppanEdo and Illuminations! A perfect end to the start of our awesome week!!

We are driving down, so I think we will arrive at about 2pm on Weds the 22nd. We are going to hit the pool and then maybe go to DTD for dinner.

We should be checking in around 1PM if flight is on time.

Ugh! I know exactly how you feel! I had a friend who travelled the same time as us last year and we toured together some days during the first week of our trip, well I preordered photopass and she was supposed to do the same.....let's just say she never got around to it and expected me to just share my cd with her for free.......

Not sure what time we're getting there Sunday night, depends on how far we get Saturday. I am guessing it won't be early enough to do much of anything except explore our resort. I heard AKL has night vision goggles to see animals at night. We may do that the first night.

If everything goes as planned (and we all know how that can be) we should be at the resort by 4:30 or so. Our arrival day tradition is to go to DTD for dinner and shopping. We have a 6:15pm ressie at Paradiso37 so I'm hoping everything goes flawlessly. We have a bright and early day the next day so we don't stay out very late.
