OK - on to QOTD. I'm actually surprised I am the first one of the day on this crazy fast-moving August thread...I'll start us off.

I have autographs on the brain (rather obvious from my post above) so here goes:

Do you plan to collect autographs? If yes, what will you use?
e.g. traditional Disney autograph book, homemade book, other items

We get 2 autograph books through the travel agency we used, so we're going to use them. DS still has his from our trips as far back as when he was 4 yrs old! I love the ideas of putting pictures in, so even though we're using the Disney book, I'm going to try to keep a page open for pictures to make it into a mini scrap book. (we'll see, though, DD is almost 4 and I've yet to finish her first year scrap book :rolleyes1 )

Any team August member want to join my Illuminations fireworks cruise on 8/23? We have two spots and would love to make new friends :goodvibes PM me if interested!!

On another note-- one month to go for me!! Hope all of you early August people have started packing!

Paid the balance today. I guess we are going to DisneyWorld!

Nice! What a good feeling that is! I started to breathe when that "zero" balance showed and did a happy dance. I am still recovering...
Now staring at the ADR's. Also, looks like we're gonna be at CRT together :) we'll have to snap a pic! Have a wonderful trip!

The girls love to collect autographs from the different characters, and since we do a ton of character meals, we always have a autograph book handy. Unfortunately I am not creative enough to make our own autograph books, so we always buy them once we arrive.

Ooh, DH's geekiness is paying off! He says that Your DS can do the Jedi training academy! It's a 15 minute show where they teach 15 kids how o use a lightsabre and at the end, they can use their new skills on darth Vader. It used to random kids, but now you can sign up for it at the Sounds Dangerous building (apparently this only happened a few months ago). But go there first at rope drop or you may not get on the list. Oh, and the child has to present when signed up. DH is trying to figure out how to pass for a 10 year old :lmao: Undercover Tourist has awesome YouTube of their kids doing it. So cool!

Unfortunately we don't have any children. DH would love to do the training academy though. I guess we will have to be content to watch. I was just wondering if they did meet and greets like other characters in the park.

I'm hopeing that Disney will do some special Star Wars things around the weekend that Star Wars Celebration is on. Last time in 2010 the Indy Stunt Spectacular did an Indy/Star Wars crossover (check it out on YouTube) also Star Tours had its last ride before shutting down for the remodel and had a lot of SW characters hanging around. I did hear a rumor that "Carbon Freeze Me" may come back to Disney around this time.

That would be awesome if they did have something special. They didn't mention it on the Celebration website or the Disney site that was linked from there (since coronodo is a hosting hotel). DH would probably LOVE to do the Carbon Freeze me thing too. Let me know if you find out about anything special!!

August hours have been updated. I'm currently checking the week of 8/17 - 8/24 and so far DHS is opened an hour later and a 2nd Fantasmic show has been added everyday for that week.

Thanks for this info! :thumbsup2

I feel alot better today. Still no Mickey mail but I did get a booklet for my Disney Visa. Basically explains everything I already read online. But good to have it reinforced that I can pickup my Disney gift card AT the park instead of waiting on the mail.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!!!

I keep going over my packing list (and over and over and over it) and I can't seem to decide whether or not to bring my laptop. The only thing I can see me using it for is to upload photos if my SD card starts to get full. But then I think I can just buy an extra SD card and save the luggage space and hassle of getting my pc through security. It's a big 17" screen PC that's heavy and bulky and doesn't travel well. But then I think "what if there's something I HAVE to do for work while I'm there?" But then I think "you're on vacation, you're not supposed to work!" And then I think "but what if it's raining all day one day and you're stuck in the room with nothing to do and want to get online?"

Ugh. So indecisive. Is anyone else bringing a laptop (or waffling over making the decision to bring it or not?)

Both of our girls have a small Dell Notebook, and they will probably bring them along (especially for the super LONG car ride!)

We want to have one along so we can hit a spot with free wifi once in a while so we can keep an eye on our bank account, and transfer money over to our Visa while we're here.

Being from Canada, we didn't want to bring a ton of US money, but don't want to pay the huge fees to withdraw either. So we'll use the Visa for everything, and transfer money to it daily to cover what we spend!

Plus, we have 5 days down in DelRay Beach at my Mom & Step-Dad's condo, so it will come in handy there as well.

My daughter is bringing hers and I plan on borrowing it so I can do a live report:thumbsup2

ALSO~ The Teva flip flops have arrived!! Its like walking on pillows!!

4joyces-I am bringing my laptop but we're driving so space isn't an issue for us. I plan on uploading pics and maybe tweaking if I have time. Also we have Netflix which might be nice if we are pooped but nothing is on tv.

I just realized exactly one month from today we will be in the car on our way to DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1::banana::dance3::banana::cool1:

:woohoo::yay::yay::woohoo:

So excited!!!!!! (if that hasn't already been properly conveyed)

I have an iPhone and DH has a Droid, so we can get online for banking and, of course, checking lines on the touring plans and Disney Mobile magic apps! If we were driving, it'd be a no-brainer! Just the thought of standing in line at 5:30 in the morning and having to take the laptop out of its case, in addition to taking my shoes off and helping DD with her shoes, and all that hassle... Just not sure if it's worth it.

I just ordered some! I didn't realize the Mush were only $25. I wasn't going to buy new ones since I just bought my Crocs this spring (and I'm really disappointed in them- thought they'd be much more comfortable than they are) , but I was thinking the Teva's were like $60-70. I can totally spring for $25 "pillows" to walk around on! Can't wait for them to get here!

the mister straps are so easy to make! I walmart sold a nylon wide thick ribbon, with Disney print:) I just stitched it by hand. 2 minutes

I say no to the laptop, but that is just me. I've sat on the plane and watched the baggage handlers abuse people's luggage before, I'd be terrified that mine would get damaged. As for tucking it in my carry on, it has enough stuff on it already, and I try to bring as small of a bag as possible considering how little room in in overhead bins these days thanks to baggage fees. My iPhone and my daughter's iPod touch are like little computers in their own right. If I want to tweet or e-mail pics, I can do it from there in one step.

Can I add us to the August group? We're going August 14-20 and can't wait. It'll be my little family of 3 and our friends (another family of 3). We all took our first trip to Disney World together 11 years ago. :cheer2:

Since Im too knuckle-headed to figure out how to multi-quote, this for the peeps who asked about the Tevas...........I take a 6.5, I ordered a 7, and they just fit!! I also have wide feet (Ive been told I have "Wilma Flintstone feet") but the straps are pretty stretchy so no problems there. I had them shipped to work so Im walking around the office in them even though they dont match my outfit:goodvibes The people at work are saying "there goes Penny in her Disney shoes!":rotfl2:

Welcome!! It's going to be so much fun to travel with another family. Usually my trips are just DH and myself. We'll be there around the same time as you guys. Where are you staying?

Does anyone know where I can get a couple of cute sun dresses? Our company is having a party on a boat tomorrow night and thought I would be more comfortable in a dress, plus I thought I could use it in Disney.

I've seen cute ones at JC Penney, Kohl's and Old Navy recently.
