After much going back and forth, we finally decided to order the photo card plus card. Its our first family trip, first time (of many, I hope) for DD4 & DS6 and we have 5 character ADR's. Someone posted in the photocard+ thread that other people can use it if they have a cell phone pic of the card. So I jumped online (like I'm ever offline! Lol) and ordered it. Whew! Now let's hope DH's family (his parents, brother &his family and sister and her DH are going too) will chip in. I think their mentality will be that since we already paid for it, why should they have to pay to use it too, but crossing my fingers I'm wrong! I should have more faith in my in-laws, right? Right? Argh...

Im missing the QOtD, so hope you don't if I start one: are you making anything for your trip?
I'm making t-shirts so we can be completely disney geek in matching shirts (come say Hi if you see us! I'll post shirt pics soon), a stroller tag (if I get to it) but probably not a pressed penny tube label or autograph book. I would if my boss didn't actually expect me to wok and not just play on photoshop! The nerve!
BTW, DH will be wearing the geekiest shirt of all: I found a pic of what muppets are lawful good, neutral good, chaotic good, etc (any D&D'ers should get that reference). Hilarious for the truly nerdy! :)

Ok, so I quoted this to my DH, who is very geeky and a D&Der as well. He immediately did a google search for that shirt and found it. He thought it was cool. I sometimes just don't get him... :confused3 Oh well, he loves Disney, so I am happy. :woohoo:

ACK! I've lost about 14 days and 57 pages !!!!!
1. Seneca wolf. Can I get one of your LGMH please? My name is Mel. Fab five is great.
2. I just frantically ordered photopass +. We leave in 18 days and it requires 14!
3. I have packed nothing.
4. I need shorts and new shoes.
5. DDs still dont know I upgraded resorts to GF. :lmao: %&$# will freeze over before we ever get to stay at a deluxe again.
6. ADRs are good, at least.... I think.

Here's a little treat for you all:

Thanks for the treat. That's a cool video.

I've seen pics of Star trek characters and the good/evil grid. Talk about ultimate nerd! ;)

As for QoTD - I am not making anything but I plan on actually hemming my clothes so they fit better. Usually I don't care or just wear heels. Also with the 100+ weather we had today I know jeans are NOT a good idea as I nearly died just walking to my car after work.

I actually bought a few things for our trip today at Walmart. A couple ponchos, some mole skin and some moisture wicking socks. It's a start. I thought of getting some Tevas or other sandals but truth is I rarely wear sandals anymore so I think the change from tennis shoes to sandals would just aggravate my feet/back too much. Also I've been having a lot of back problems lately. I have a chiropractor appointment tomorrow. Hoping it can get better before the trip.

Speaking of geeky things...another question!

Are Star Wars characters around year round or just during Star Wars weekends?

Just curious. My DH would really love to meet Darth Vader and I'd love to meet r2d2. :lmao: Even storm troopers would probably excite my hubby. :rotfl:

Thanks!!!!

I am making kids shirts, we made the bleach spray ones already. I have a pirate mickey image I need to get onto transfers ASAP but its a surprise so I have to do it at night. I am low on ink too.
I am also making pirate vests to go with the Ts and its all for their last day at pirates league(also a surprise.)
I have a letter inviting them to PL and a map as to where in the park I need to mark with an X
I made straps with disney nylon wide ribbon type stuff for our O2 mister fans.

My last part was autograph books but then I realized I have NO use for a book of autographs themselves.
So instead I have a mini 3 ring book with index cards for kids to collect characters autographs. Once home, I will make a photobook/digital SB with Pics of my kids with each character and the autograph they got and have more of a keepsake.
This is not mine( but it is pretty much like what I want to make

Ooh, DH's geekiness is paying off! He says that Your DS can do the Jedi training academy! It's a 15 minute show where they teach 15 kids how o use a lightsabre and at the end, they can use their new skills on darth Vader. It used to random kids, but now you can sign up for it at the Sounds Dangerous building (apparently this only happened a few months ago). But go there first at rope drop or you may not get on the list. Oh, and the child has to present when signed up. DH is trying to figure out how to pass for a 10 year old :lmao: Undercover Tourist has awesome YouTube of their kids doing it. So cool!

Pirates League was amazing!!! We did it last time, still on the fence about making an appt for this year, but my boys did ask for it again! LOVE your letter and map idea too! So cute!

We have never done autographs, but I think my oldest son would be into that. He collects EVERYTHING (pins, Vinylmation...etc etc etc)

I may be a *tad* bit obsessed with OPI nail polish lately...I of course had to have the Minnie Mouse set, and just found the Pirates of the Caribbean and Muppets mini-sets on Amazon.com. Adorable. (Ordered, and also threw in the Mary Poppins and Hunchback of Notre Dame DVDs...hey- stressful day with all my boys at the dentist- needed retail therapy! lol!!)

ETA: They were all ANGELS at the dentist. However, it was expensive (even after insurance) and then my middle son bit his cheek so badly while it was numb that his face is now swollen. :( Stressin' me out!

I'm hopeing that Disney will do some special Star Wars things around the weekend that Star Wars Celebration is on. Last time in 2010 the Indy Stunt Spectacular did an Indy/Star Wars crossover (check it out on YouTube) also Star Tours had its last ride before shutting down for the remodel and had a lot of SW characters hanging around. I did hear a rumor that "Carbon Freeze Me" may come back to Disney around this time.

I have a question about the bleach spray shirts. What is it that you use to make the template? Cardboard, paper, other.

My kids did Jedi training last year - it was fabulous and I have the cutest Photopass pics from it! They say they're OK with not doing it this year though so we're skipping it. We're going to ride star Tours multiple times instead! (since it was still being refurbed last time - so we've never been on it).

For the sign-ups, most people advise to go right at RD. I did - was 3rd in line. They let me choose whatever time slot I wanted (I've heard some CMs won;t let you choose. If that happens, stand aside in line until the time slot you want opens up). I chose the 1st one as it fit in my plan. I have not heard of signups running out before 10am.

If I were to do it again, I would do the TSM dash, get FPs and ride standby. Then I would head straight over to Jedi to sign up for a later afternoon/evening slot. I can't imagine them running out of slots by 9:30am. (although I'm sure it's possible - so it's up to you. I didn't take the chance last time because it made me nervous).

BTW, my DS freaked out when he saw the stage and everything and said he didn't want to do it. We were at DHS a few days before so we made a point to stop and watch a few mins at which point he calmed right down and was excited to do it himself.

My kids enjoy the autographs - more for the fun factor.

2yrs ago, I bought plain baseball caps for $1 each. They then got the characters to sign them. It was perfect and they're an awesome, cheap souvie.

Last year I ordered the Disney Jr Encyclopedia for Chapters and carried it around the parks getting the characters to sign "their" pages. Don;t think I'm bringing it this year as many pages already have signatures. Dunno what to do.

I do have these blank figures that are for drawing on/collecting autographs (Think blank white vinylmation type stuff). A bit hesistant as it is NOT a vinylmation. Plus they are just a touch bulky to carry although I can hook them to a lanyard.

My other idea is a photomat of some kind. It will just be a bit of a pain to carry around the parks - especially in the August heat.

Perhaps I should get the characters to sign their ear hats?

Otherwise, we'll stick to photos and skip autographs altogether!

boy has this thread sure exploded since the last time i was here. I didn't come back because my trip wasn't paid for & until it was it wasn't real :rotfl2:. 4.5 more weeks yay :)

I used paper. Worked well but next time I would probably use my cardstick for at least the letters we did, les chance of leak through on the thin parts.

I bought each of the boys a backpack yesterday that they will take to Disney to be signed by the characters. DS8 did it 2 years ago and loved it! All I need to do now is to go to an art store to get a metallic opaque Sharpee. Both bags are red/black, so I think I will get silver.
