I just have to vent! We got offered a bounceback offer in August, for free dining if we return August 2012. DH told me I was crazy to think about next year's vacation so soon, and to forget about it. Now we are planning to return in August 2012, and if we don't get some sort of discount I am going to be so upset!!!

I am sorry to hear it worked out that way. We have booked the bounceback at WDW. It seems that once you don't book it, or don't go during that time, you are out of the loop on the timing of those specials. So now I sit and wait for a Aug 2012 special like you...wishing we'd gone in Aug '11 so it would already be taken care of!!!! Frustrating!!

So, maybe i can just call the reservation# and ask if i have a pin and they might offer me a discount? should i just call and ask for the discount? i've never done that before. we are booked for ASMU for Aug 18-26

I called this week to book a room only ressie for our August trip and I did ask if I had a PIN attached to my account and at this time, I didn't, so I used my AAA discount for now which got us 15% off at POFQ. I booked my flights since Jetblue released the August dates and had decent fares. But, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good discount PIN or a Disney VISA or GP room discount code to come out for late August so I can upgrade to the Contemporary. Free dining doesn't interest us, so my fingers are crosssed for room discounts

I was able to call on New Years Eve.. Yes New Years Eve.. I was shocked too..
And they just released a pin code for Early Aug..

I snagged it and we got our Yacht Club stay..

But at that point I had a bounceback for Free Dining too so I added the Yacht club stay to the free dining at another resort..

I WANT THAT again!

Sadly, we didn't get the FD bounceback offer last year, or I would have booked, so . .. count me in waiting and hoping for free dining for August. With 5 in one room, I think that the free dining is the best deal for us.

Count us IN- Just got back from POR and of course, going thru SHOCK.
A 30% pin or code would just be wonderful. Thinking middle of August, right b4 school starts up again. We may drive this time.

Trying to decided between mid-June or late-August. Any thoughts? We have always gone in May or October/November, but DD is in school full time now so those days are gone! Any thoughts on which would be better crowds wise?

We decided not to go to Disney this year because we did a 3 room renovation that included the kitchen. While I am thrilled to basically have a new house (these were the last rooms left to renovate), I really want to be at Disney and have been on the Dis all the time lately.

I figured after going over our kitchen expense total DH & I would decide that we shouldn't go in 2012 either. DH does everything himself, but we still spent a lot of money. We were having a casual conversation about school breaks and when the best times would be in the future and DH said, "I think late August sounds good. I think the heat will be fine (we both grew up in FL), especially if the crowds are low and we can get free dining." I was pretty sure he was just missing Disney too and just talking about possibilities.

But yesterday he mentioned it at dinner with the kids and I said I thought we were just discussing the benefits of late August in general, not this August specifically. He said, "Oh, I thought we decided we were definitely going. I just rebuilt this whole house; I really need a vacation to Disney. As soon as you seen an August deal you should book it"

We went last year in late August and it was wonderful. I would definitely pick that time over mid June!! We hardly had any crowds and most rides were walk ons. I am in the middle of my TR if you want to take a look and maybe that will give you a better idea about that time of year.

The crowds were super low. I think most of the southern schools were back in session by then. I was more worried about how we would handle the heat, but it truly wasn't that bad. We have been to WDW several times, so there was no need to go full speed ahead and try to do & see everything, we just took our time and paced ourselves and stopped for breaks and all went very well.

A PIN!!! In my email account - addressed to OUR family (I've received several of them for my Dad ... whom I booked a ONE NIGHT stay for several years ago)! And it was for 8/1/11 - 8/18/11 ... which is when we will be there!!!

But it is for 10% off. I just checked it out and it is exactly 10% off. What a lame pin. I hope it's not a taste of the discounts yet to come ...

I think ordering the vacation planning DVD is what prompted the pin. The email says, "GAME ON, XXXX family! Thanks for checking out our Vacation Planning Info. Now it's our move." Then it goes on to say, "Since you're thinking about coming in August ..."

Is there ever anything for early August? We have gone the last few years in late August and it is a nice time, but I would consider switching to early Aug. if a good discount came out. I would not go again in July, for us it was way too crowded. I am lucky though that I am booked via BB for FD in late Aug.so if nothing else comes along, we'll be there at the end of the month.
