August 2011

Hi everyone :) I just booked a trip for Aug 7-14th; I don't know how nuts I am for booking a trip in August :rotfl:

We are staying @ the Beach Club~ :rotfl:any hints or tips for going in August would be very much appreciated ! We will be celebrating 2 Bdays while there; my DD's 19th and my DS's 10th~ now that the kids are getting older and DD in college it's so much harder to pull everyone out~ and holiday breaks are so super expensive !

We have never done a summer trip~ always May, Oct or January~ so I am finding myself in very unfamiliar territory :rotfl:

Thanks in advance so very much :) :)

I need some advice. On arrival day our flight lands at 11:25. Do you think we could be checked in and to a park by 3 pm?

Our arrival date is Aug. 14 and my original plan was to check into hotel, even if our room is not ready, grab a snack and head to Epcot. Have dinner at Biergarten at 6:45, watch Illuminations and go back to the hotel and go to bed. But now I'm wondering if it would be better to check in, eat lunch at the resot (CBR), go swimming, take a nap, and then head to Magic Kingdom since they are open until 2 am. We wouldn't stay that late, only until 10-11 pm at the latest probably.

It will be me, DH and our sons 3 and 5 years old. What should we do that first day? We only have five full days in the parks so I'm trying to squeeze in extra time on the first night and last morning.

Thanks.

Due to winning a sweepstakes:cool1::cool1::cool1: I have to change my resort. We will be staying 8/20-23 at the Polynesian and 8/23-36 at the Yacht Club!

Hi everyone -- just discovered this wonderful thread and want to share our Disney plans!
Our party is eight people: Me, hubbie, daughter, son-in-law anbd our four grands ages 6, 4, 2 and baby -- celebrating three birthdays while we are there --I'm turning 39 *wink*, granddaughter turns 5, and baby turns one. We are staying at POR from 23rd of August til September 6. Sending the kids home on September 2 so we can have a vacation from the vacation. Read through the posts and looking forward to sharing Disney memories with everyone!

I would probably do Epcot and make it an early night so the kids will be refreshed for the following day.

My daughter and I will be staying at ASM August 4-11! Booked with the Free Dining PIN. Based on the ADRs I've already made, I'll probably pay the difference and upgrade from Quick Service to the regular Dining Plan. I'm also hoping to be able to upgrade to a moderate resort (CBR), but I booked at ASM because I knew it was what I could afford for now.

No matter which resort we stay at, we'll be at DISNEY!!!!

I am new to DIS but super excited about our upcoming trip :woohoo: We will be staying at Coronado Springs August 27- September 3. I can't wait!! :yay:

We are THRILLED to be going TWICE in one year! We were in DW last October and heading back the 1st week in August. We're booked at Old Key West in a studio and we can't wait. The laid back atmosphere of the resort is JUST what we needed.

Soon we'll be getting some sun, drinks in hands and listening to some steel drums! :cloud9:

I'm getting antsy! we still have not booked our flights as they are still soo costly. Really hoping they drop a bit otherwise we may have to drive.

It's looking more & more like we will be driving too!
The last 2 years we have gone the week after Thanksgiving (just 3 of us) and have paid around $750.00. This year I was hoping since its the end of August it would be much cheaper, it's not!

We will be traveling with 5 of us this time and it's just too expensive to fly!

Ok, maybe this post will finally work. GEEZ i'm having some serious computer issues.

We're taking our first family vacation this August (1st thru 5th). Me, hubby, Baby Boy (who we are celebrating! He turns 2 on the 2nd :))...hubby and I are also bringing his sister, her husband, and their 2 kiddos! Well, her husband may not be able to come due to work, but if that's the case, their mom is coming in his place. A nice family vacay to celebrate MY BABY'S SECOND BIRTHDAY!!! We're staying at Kidani Village in a 2 bdrm villa.

August 18th - 30th, as a split stay between Animal Kingdom Villas (8/18-8/23) and BLT (8/23-8/30). SO excited! :goodvibes

Yes it is :( And my flights have gone up once again... driving is looking more like the reality.

lizzyb,
Have you driven before? How long does it take to drive from Canada?

I've been checking out the 2000 mile round trip thread, those guys really know alot about driving to Disney!

We are thinking about getting a rental car or borrowing my FIL's car, I don't want to risk having my 2000 Durango breaking down! DH drives a pickup truck so that won't help! I'm not used to having things "up in the air" LOL! I usually have everything planned and mostly paid for by this time! This trip will definately be an adventure!!;)

Depending on where in NJ you are I am about 8hrs away from you. So the drive would be about 21hrs.

We have never driven down. The part the scares me is being in the car with the kids that long. We would stop for one night each way.

I'm in Monmouth County - near the beach.

We would probably stop for one night also, DH says he could drive straight through, but when we got there he would be too tired to have any fun. I know my 8yo would not want to spend our first day at Disney watching Dad take a nap! I would like to stop for the night about 4 hours from Disney, that way we could get up, have breakfast, hit the road and be at Disney by lunch time! Now I just need to figure out where 4 hours from Disney actually is!

Thats our plan too. I'm still hoping flight prices come down though :rotfl2:
