I REALLY want to get that FREE dining pin. Crossing fingers...

I got a pin for 40% off room so we booked Aug. 23 to the 30th (that was the earliest in Aug. we could use the pin). Well, we would save over $300 more if we use the 4/3 code and go a couple weeks earlier. Not sure what to do. Want to save but not sure if dh can get that week off even.

I have a question. Since I booked with a pin would I be able to get free dining if it came out the last week of Aug. on top of my pin? I believe you can only use one discount but not sure since it was a pin that came and not a code to the public. Thanky you!

They will only let you use one discount. I had my trip booked with the 40% pin. I got a free dining pin and just switched it over. I saved much more with the free dining. My dates are the same as yours.

I got the PIN code for free dining. I booked Pop Century for 6 nights starting 8/16. It's a week earlier this year. Our 4th year of free dining. Can wait to make dining reservations. Was surprised to hear that you can only make reservations 90 days in advance instead of 180.

I'm booked at Pop with the 40% PIN Aug 23-29. If FD comes out for Visa holders I don't know what to do. I wonder if I'd be better off? It is just dd12 and I on this trip. She doesn't eat much, we could honestly share many CS meals. But she does like to do TS. We are spending 2 days at Discovery Cove/SeaWorld so I suppose if we went with FD we could do a couple 2TS (she loves Cali Grill) since we wouldn't use credits those days.

Decisions decisions. I guess the only way to know the savings would be to go through menus and see what we would spend if we kept it at the 40% PIN and paid for our food vs what FD would do to our rate.

Well - We are pretty much giving up.

We were able to get 7 nights with the Super Saver rate at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort for almost the same rate that we had at CSR w/ AAA. I know free dinning will probably become available for most of our dates (aug 15-22), but it really wouldn't benefit us as we were already planning on spending half our time at universal & seaworld.

I have given up on getting a pin and just booked earlier in August and used the 4/3 deal. I couldn't pass it up. I upgraded to a deluxe resort as well.

It sounds like you would be eligible for the 4/3 deal since your vacation starts prior to 8/15. I wouldn't think you would be able to do free dining for 8/16/-18 because it's between the two promotions. I believe free dining starts 8/16. I wish that we could go at that time because free dining for the week is cheaper than the 4/3 deal Good luck!

I dont think they are letting you go past the 8/15 day with the 4/3 deal. You would have to chekc out on that date.

In order to get the free dinning on the 16th it would have to be a new reservation and you would have to buy atleast a 1 day ticket for each person. Wouldnt be worth it for only 2 days.

This is true...I am arriving 8/13 and staying through 8/20. I was unable to book the 4/3 deal because my travel dates extend beyond 8/15
Any other promotion, I have been able to use as long as the dates started within the discount period but Disney didn't do that with this one.
I had to use a AAA rate instead, which cost me a lot more money so we are staying at AS Music instead of the Beach Club or OKW as I had originally planned.

For 2 adults at a value resort, free dining is by far the better deal...it saves about $280.00 over 4/3 with one day base tickets.

4/3 for standard room in value season with 1 day base and dining plan for 2 adults is approximately $1075.00.
Free dining for standard room in value season with 1 day base is approximately $795.00.

Maybe her hotel choice just wasn't available? We couldn't get preferred rooms at POP for our dates, but no problem with regular rooms. I was pretty sure that I had read other people were able to take advantage of the 4/3 deal as long as check-in was prior to 8/15, so thank you for posting that

I also posted about free dining starting 8/16, and I realize now that I received a pin code for that particular promotion. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see it offered to everyone at some point in time!

I just used a one day base ticket as an example. Your savings for the reduced price tickets with the 4/3 deal are not nearly as great as the free dining staying at a value resort. The savings flip the other direction in favor of the 4/3 deal if you are staying at a deluxe resort.

It worked for you because your first nights are prior to the deal ending. You're paying for the 9th through the 12th, getting 13th through 15th free. Paying for the days after. It only works if you're free days are before the deal ends.
